Russ Gload
Gload would have to be at least as productive as Konerko was with the bat last season. Though I still think Paulie's season was an aberration. He had a damn piss poor year.

Royals
You are right. A few years AFTER Reinsdorf sells, then the Sox fans may come back.

As of right now, what other plan can there be?

Sad story of PC gone too far
If people were taught the correct names of the reproductive organs from childbirth, perhaps those words would not have those "ugly" connotations.

***NEWS-Sox trade for Juan Uribe
It looks like both Tony G and Robbie Alomar will be elsewhere next season, so this is really a decent move by KW. Miles could not play short and Uribe can play both middle infield positions. We didn't have a backup shortstop, and maybe he can take the job away from Valentin. If KW feels he has acquired a starting shortstop, he can then include Valentin in a deal in which we receive a qualified backup as part of the deal. There's a lot of off season left guys. Don't hit the panic button just yet.

Lowell staying put in Florida
With Boras as IRod's agent, I can't see him talking the Marlin's offer without him testing free agency again. He proved that he has it last year, and that was the reason he accepted the one year deal, as there was some doubt out there as to whethet he could be the IRod of old. Note: I did not once refer to IRod with Carlton Fisk's nickname.

I just don't get it...
The Mets offer to Castillo was technically higher the Marlins offer, but since Florida does not have a state income tax, more money ends up in Castillo's pockets by staying with the Fish.

Yanks going after Brown
I read a couple of articles out of NY on this and there was no mention of Nick Johnson. However, the Dodgers are attempting to acquire Carlos Beltran, so that may preclude and PK deal to LA.

Sox acquire Juan Uribe for Miles
With Ozzie and Joey Cora around for Uribe to relate too, this could really be a steal in the long run. Even Valentin might contribute in this area. If he had all-star potential prior to 2002, now at age 24 you would figure he still has potential. Now I'm not saying this guy will make the AL all-star team as a SS. To many big bats at that position, but he could turn out to be a very quality pick up. Or he could be a bust. As for losing Miles, I've always liked the guy. He impressed me in spring training last year. My thoughts were that he might just have been a late bloomer. But, most people in here never thought he had much of a shot because it took him so long to become a solid minor league hitter. The fact that he stepped up from AA to AAA and still had a solid season impressed me. It showed that 2002 was not a fluke season. It will be interesting to see how he does in the NL.

Jay Payton anyone
Payton is a solid player and he's at the age that you can expect his production to increase over the next few years. He could probably be signed for 3-4 years relatively cheaply right now. He could turn into a real bargain.

Ehh...
Colon is a workhorse, no doubt about it. But, he does qualify as a risk healthwise. As much extra weight as he carries could lead to a breakdown somewhere, before the end of a longterm contract.

Sox want Castillo
So many people in here want to write off a guy as having no talent, or just being a AAAA ballplayer, when they struggle at the beginning of there careers. I don't know if Willie Harris can be a Juan Pierre or not, but we have to play him so we can find out. Like that kid CF'er for the Giants that started out 0-52 or something like that. Lucky for the Giants, they gave that kid a chance to play. Willie Mays.

Phil Rogers talks Colon, Matsui, Konerko trade
One hit wonder? Look at his stats for 99-02, then look at '03. '03 seems to be the exception to the rule. His OPS was never lower than .844 over those 4 years, yet came in at .704 this past year. That sounds to me like the definition of an "off year" in 2003. Unless of course you consider 99-02 a 4 year long fluke and '03 the real PK.

Sexson traded to Zona
You have to throw Casey Fossum into that mix, as well.

Anyone else?
Hardly semantics. Those are two completely different statements. Also, I've never seen anything saying that Schoenewicz would be "first in line" for the fifth spot. Just that he'd get the opportunity. Just like anyone else who has a shot, he'll have to outpitch his competition.
