My girlfriend's son had surgery on his shoulder a couple of weeks ago. The doctor that performed the surgery was the son of an ex-Sox and ex-Oriole. The doctor's name is Dr. Don Buford, Jr. That name should ring a bell with some of you old-timers, like me.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 15, 2008 -> 04:26 PM) So believe me when I say that I've definitely learned my lesson. This is the important thing at this point. Thank your lucky stars that you didn't kill or maim someone. Put it behind you and move forward ... Just ... DON"T ... EVER ... FORGET!!!!

I've been in the Buster for 15 or 20 minutes. That'll be enough for a while it seems. You guys have fun.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2008 -> 09:34 AM) That's what I can't wait to return to... 4 years of approval ratings running the country again. Like the current congressional approval ratings.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 16, 2008 -> 09:31 AM) Who was he referring to? Based on his approval rating I will have to disagree. Ask him. I'm no mind reader. Could have been Carter. Agree to disagree.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2008 -> 08:57 AM) Seriously, after all of the things I have seen GWB called and compared to over the past 7.5 years, there is some nerve being pissed off about this. Every day on the campaign trail stuff is said similar to this. Maybe if both of the Dems whole platform wasn't based off of Bush's term, they woudl have some room to complain. Now Bush does the samething and all of the sudden he is bad for it? Yeah, nothing is going to change if Obama wins, because he is the exact same politician as Hillary and George... An opportunist looking to make something out of anything. Change my ass. I think it's strange the GWB didn't mention a party nor a person, yet the Dems/libs are screaming bloody murder. I think this is simply a case of the shoe fits and they have to wear it. It's also a case of the Dems/Libs feel they are particularly vulnerable on Nat'l defense so they pull every Democrat, currently relevent or not, that they could find to spin the s*** out of this.

Willie Harris sighting .... He had the top play on ESPN's top ten last night.

QUOTE (G&T @ May 16, 2008 -> 08:25 AM) Helps that we didn't play in Oakland. Just sayin'. Although I will say this is about as good a position as the Sox could have expected. This is a great chance to be 6-4 or 7-3 on this trip. Can't ask for anything more. Ya, we seem to be snakebit in Oakland. Regardless, we can't complain about this trip considering our recent past out there.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 15, 2008 -> 06:37 PM) Saturday. Floyd-Sanchez Buehrle-Zito Danks-Cain Saturday is also on WGN.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2008 -> 07:39 AM) First win of the season without hitting a home run! Plus one win in SF means a .500 road trip! A west coast road trip at that.

Scoscia just sacrificed to put a runner in scoring position with an .091 hitter coming up, and didn't pinch hit. Thank you, Mike. -
QUOTE (Texsox @ May 15, 2008 -> 10:09 PM) When you are old and have a job, west coast games suck. When you're old and have a job, most things suck.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 15, 2008 -> 01:49 PM) That depends on who you ask. Really, I don't think anybody actually know the answer to that, but people say they know one way or the other based on how they want to spin that trade. The way I understood it, and take it for what it's worth, is that the DBacks would have accepted either one, but because BA was thought to be much more ML ready and Rowand was gone, KW chose to send Young.

QUOTE (Texsox @ May 15, 2008 -> 08:07 AM) Obviously. Bonds felt the same way.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 12, 2008 -> 10:55 PM) Then, I have to ask... why post or read in here? I mean, discourse is what we are doing, right now. And half the board (more or less) are "liberals". If you don't need either, why not just curl up by the fire with a good AM radio and tune into Rush? I should start a thread: Why do you post in the Buster? I'd like to hear some peoples' answers. I've asked myself the same question a number of times. In fact, I took a good solid month off from posting in the Buster recently. But when it comes down to it, I like to have my say. I can't just let the liberal half of the board corrupt those with open minds or are on the fence.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 12, 2008 -> 11:37 AM) Sort of makes it difficult to engage in discourse with someone when they think anything described as left of center should be labeled with a dirty word. To quote Popeye: I yam what I yam. I don't need discourse and I don't need liberals.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 12, 2008 -> 02:17 PM) You don't trade a slugger like Jim Thome for a back up catcher. You can get a back up catcher for much less. It is suggestions like these that makes me glad we aren't the GM's. Hopeful this was just to generate discussion. That being said, I was wondering if there was someway we could Clement from the M's, as sooner or later we are going need a replacement for AJ.

In my eyes, liberal is a dirty word. It has been since I was in 7th grade and had a liberal Social Studies teacher that tried to influence the thinking of the class. It worked just opposite with me. Stupid ass b****.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 11, 2008 -> 12:13 AM) Quentin looks to be the real deal. What a huge imrovement in LF over the last two seasons! As I said in another thread, Ozzie should keep starting Brian Anderson in CF against left-handed pitchers, with Dye and Konerko taking turns at DH. It improves the Defense as well as the Offense against LHP and Keeps Thome fresh, hopefully lessening the chance of his recurring wrist and back injuries allowing him to be more productive with less playing time. Uribe is an excellent defensive infielder, whether at SS or 2B and can even play a good 3B in a pinch. Because of his poor approach at the plate the past two seasons, he has become a whipping boy to a lot of fans and every miscue he makes becomes magnified and overblown. But Uribe is still one of the better defensive middle infielders in the game. Hopefully he keeps improving at the plate with his new stance and approach that he has shown the past week or so. We have seen this from Uribe before, but he'll return to his general suckiness in the near future. Still, at this point in time he is our best option at 2B. -
