  1. If we lose an infielder to injury, I want someone that lock down the position defensively. Uribe stays, imho.
  2. They showed it on SportsCenter.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 09:50 AM) I agree. When you look at his numbers within his era, its hard to say no to him. He compares very favorably with Brooks Robinson. Same position, same era. Robinson's career OPS+ is 104, Santo's 125. And defensively, while he was no Brooks, in his own right Santo was damn good with the glove.
  4. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 09:19 AM) HOF? Yes, I think he should be there.
  5. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 07:47 AM) buried them for good? Its June, the season is far from over. If you thought you could just kick your feet up and enjoy the rest of the next 3 months, you were completely wrong. And Ron Santo as the best 3rd basemen in Chicago? LOLZ I'm sure his range is somewhat limited these days, but Santo was a damn good 3B.
  6. We flat out got our asses kicked. Period.
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 08:19 AM) Anybody who looks, sounds, and thinks like that assclown is someone who has earned my sympathy, regardless of whether or not he makes millions more than I do for writing out of his ass. In fact, I'd say that he's gone so overboard on the unfounded criticism and hatred of Guillen/Dubs/Reinsdorf that it's lost it's shock appeal. Dude is writing himself out of a job. No he's not writing himself out of a job. He's catering to Cub fans.
  8. Well, of course the place smells like a urinal. Moises Alou played there.
  9. Up against the wall, Red Sox mutha!
  10. I learned a long time ago not to read his vile crap. In fact, I rarely go the Sun-Times site just to make sure I don't accidently click on his column.
  11. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 11:05 AM) Wise got back well on a deep fly-and made the catch, but glad the sun was not out at the time-dont Know why so shallow on a guy w/15 HR. It could be because he can go back well on a deep fly. That would allow him to cut off some of those short flairs for singles. Now I don't if he's that good. I'm just throwing out the possibility. I haven't seen him play that I can recall.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 08:41 AM) Only a matter of time before they got their crap together and had a game like this. This team has been on a roller coaster ride for the last month or so. High as hell one week, low as the San Andreas fault another. I guess we'll have to deal with it. Adam Russel was extremely impressive btw. Welcome to Soxtalk.
  13. I am truly saddened by Tom Russert's passing. There was no journalist that I respected more.
  14. The same can be said about Frank Thomas. You give these two players healthy and un-strike-interrupted careers, and there stats would be legendary.
  15. Over the short term, Billy Martin was a damn good manager.
  16. If you DFA Uribe, you still have to pay the 4.5 million. I'd rather keep Uribe than Ozuna. If, for example, we lose OC to injury you know Uribe can handle the rigors of playing every day and not become a defensive liability.
  17. QUOTE (mreye @ Jun 10, 2008 -> 07:49 AM) Will Marriotti write about that today? There's a lot of turmoil surrounding mariotti at the Sun-Times right now. A bunch people pissed off at him. I hope they can his ass.
  18. I'd like to point out that Ozzie put Hall in as DH. It's a goodmove by Ozzie to get Hall an AB or two. If, heaven forbid, AJ goes goes down then Hall could catch and we lose the DH. The pitcher's have/get to bat instead. Couldn't think of a better situation get Hall some AB's.
  19. Is this pretty or what? From CBSportsline:
  20. QUOTE (tommy @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 03:10 PM) I want 20 Runs, am i asking too much? Let's save 'em for tomorrow.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 02:57 PM) Sweet. That's what we needed. Now the bats can do whatever the hell they want the rest of the game. Great managing there, Balta.
  22. I remember this about Loaiza ... That last year he was with us ('04?) he was throwing about 89-91 mph fastballs. Till he went to the AS game to audition for Joe Torre and the Yankees, where he was popping it 94-95. Comes back to the Sox and goes back to the mediocre effort. So yes, Loaiza was being lazy and I was glad to see him traded.
  23. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 11:02 AM) That was Charlie Finley's A's that did that, correct? Until you said that, I was thinking it was at Comiskey. Now, I'm not sure, as I know the Finley did something similar. That was many years ago.
