  1. I'll third the DJ Moore endorsement. I don't know if he's any good, but I'd be willing to bet he's better than Tim Jennings.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 09:34 PM) You gotta love the fans booing at the end of the Bulls game because they held on to the ball with a ten point lead in the final seconds, keeping them from 100 points, and their free tacos, big macs or whatever. That promotion should have been axed years ago, it is so stupid. Either that, or just make it people get free food when the Bulls win.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2010 -> 02:55 PM) And more importantly, so did Derrick Rose who actually did the cheating. None of this came out until after the 2007-2008 season, so there is really nothing that could have/can be done to Rose.
  4. I'm not going to sit here and pretend I have any idea what the events of this evening mean. I honestly don't even know if the experts fully know what will happen in the future as a result of tonight if they are being honest. I will just say I hope this thing works, because we really can't afford for it not to.
  5. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) We very well may get a regional title game with two of the shadiest coaches in college basketball, Calipari and Huggins. Ehh all of the top coaches in college athletics are shady really. The difference is a guy like Calipari is an outright, proven cheater.
  6. I'm not going to give Duke much credit, they really didn't beat anything. At least the Gonzaga and Wake Forest teams that Syracuse and Kentucky beat were dangerous, Cal is just a group of mighty mites who can shoot, but can be easily beaten if you guard them at all. I also don't think you can just say the Big 10 is by far the best because Michigan State won two games at the buzzer and Purdue eeked past a bleh A&M team, along with the fact that the Big 10 only got 5 teams in the tournament. If we're going to punish leagues for being good enough to get 7 and 8 teams in, then yes the Big 10 has been the best by far. But I find that to be silly, and you still can't just ignore Wisconsin's embarrassing performance today.
  7. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 06:51 PM) Big Ten was by far the best conference this weekend. It was a terrible performance all around though from everyone else. People will leave the Big East alone when they have two teams in the Final Four. Big Ten really had a very good weekend overall, but it probably won't last with Hummel and Lucas out, although MSU can beat UNI without Lucas. Ohio State fans should book their hotel rooms in Indy right now though.
  8. Duke vs. Purdue? Yuck, I hope an asteroid hits the arena.
  9. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 05:47 PM) Yah I agree, and Frum has been making a lot of noise about moderating the party lately as you've probably noticed. So this isn't a huge surprise. Yeah the GOP is going to have a difficult time staying relevant if it doesn't moderate at least a little bit.
  10. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 05:40 PM) I do believe that the Republican party has shifted hard to the right on a number of issues, and that being a moderate Republican is very hard, but I'm not convinced that the Republican Party's electoral fortunes are hurt by this. Could the Republican party really be hoping to retake both houses if there was little controversy on this and the bill was more of a compromise? We'll see, I doubt it. Update: There may also be a little bit of self-interest at play here. Frum might know what kind of commentators MSNBC wants. Do you get paid to be a pundit? Agreed on all counts.
  11. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 05:33 PM) A ton of money for a guy who plays a position where a real breakdown is possibility before the deal is up. That being said, no way you couldn't resign him if you are the Twins, they had to give him his $$. Scary, but Mauer signed cheaply, on the free agent market, he could have gotten more. I don't think he'll be catching by the time this deal if half over, let alone all the way over. Just one mans opinion though, and I think it's good for baseball the Twins kept Mauer, even if it's bad for us.
  12. I think it's easy to say Duke got the easiest region, and it's probably pretty accurate too. But this tournament has just been insane, everybody thought Kansas was going to have the toughest road to the title despite being the #1 overall seed in large part because of teams like Georgetown and Maryland, and all three of them are gone, with Georgetown having gone the first day.
  13. You would have to think Northern Iowa has a real good shot to beat Lucas-less Michigan State. You'd also have to think Ohio State is going to win this region, barring some sort of choke, which would be very unexpected from this group.
  14. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) Cornell plays at an extremely slow pace. They won't play fast against Kentucky. They are near the top of d1 in term of offensive efficiency, which is what of course makes them so dangerous. I thought they had played slow this season, but obviously I hadn't see a great deal of them. They weren't playing slow today though, and they'll have to go back to their usually slow pace, while also shooting as well as they did today, to have any chance aginst Kentucky.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) The only chance Cornell would have is if they unplugged the shot clock. Cornell can make a ton of shots as we saw today, so they have a chance in theory. The problem is they shoot the ball pretty fast (first open shot is going up,) and if they try and play even reasonably fast against Kentucky, they'll get run off the floor.
  16. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) He's not even wearing the orange & blue yet, and he's already getting screwed by the refs!!!! Yeah, the complex fans seem to have now about their guys getting screwed over by the refs is ridiculous. Nobody ever wants to blame teams or players for failure, always on the guys in the stripes. At any rate, Richmond should be fun to watch next fall. All things considered, Illinois should be a lot better, but we'll see.
  17. Nice of Wisconsin to show up today. Cornell is a really good team and a really really good shooting team, but they were just wide open all day. Never thought it'd see a defensive performance like that from a Bo Ryan team (they also got spanked in the rebounding department,) especially with the opponent from the Ivy League. Cornell vs. Kentucky is going to be really interesting to watch.
  18. That would have rivaled Illinois/Arizona on the all time epic choke job scale without that incredible shot to pull it out for the Spartans, wow.
  19. I like that preview. Short and to the point, although you could make it really short and to the point. I think the 2010 White Sox can be previewed in about 2 sentences. This team isn't complicated at all.
  20. Teahen could go 0 for the rest of spring, and it wouldn't make me worry an ounce more about him than I have been since the day we acquired him. I have Teahen worries, but none related to the spring. The spring means nothing, just look at Andruw Jones for instance.
  21. I don't think I've ever read a thread title on these boards and been more confused.
  22. Good news for the Hawks is San Jose has struggled lately too, so the Hawks are still the #1 seed in the west and going to win the division. Bad news is, Vancouver and especially Phoenix are getting closer in the rear view mirror for points. At least they got one point tonight (Niemi was actually very good, but the defense was just awful), huge game Tuesday.
  23. If New Mexico being a #3 seed wasn't the biggest seeding joke I've ever seen, Villanova being a #2 was. St. Mary's still has a very good team though, and I think they have a legit shot at winning this region and pulling a George Mason.
  24. Today showed once again that Bill Self, while maybe the best recruiter in America, is still a sketchy coach. Winning a National Championship obviously earned him a pass for quite a while, but I've seen too many of his teams lose to inferior opponents (and in cases like today, Bradley, and Bucknell, vastly inferior opponents) in the tournament to feel otherwise. UNI certainly deserves a ton of credit though. Even on a bad day for KU, it takes a really strong performance to beat them, and outside of the fact that it appeared UNI has never seen a full court press before, they played outstanding basketball today. That three point shot to ice the game was either the ballsiest or craziest shot I've ever seen, still not sure yet.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 07:56 PM) Horrible reffing so far in the Kentucky game. Kentucky is getting every call possible. BTW, John Wall sucks! Most overrated player ever. Kentucky is absolutely terrifying when they get running, but I can't see them winning it all because eventually, somebody will slow them down, and John Wall cannot run a half court offense right now. I'm assuming that somebody is West Virginia, but the more I think about it, the more the people I was debating the other day might have a point that the Cornell/Wisconsin winner could give them a game too. Also, New Mexico getting a #3 seed was an absolute joke. Biggest seeding joke I think I have ever seen in the NCAA Tournament, and while Montana almost showed why, Washington most definitely completely showed it.
