QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 02:55 PM) I actually got lucky. Well technically it was my girlfriend. She found tickets last night and just bought them as soon as possible. Got very lucky with that. Double lucky. Having tickets and having a girlfriend smart and willing enough to do that. I wish I was going, but I'm sure everybody who is will make a great crowd tonight.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

What a game this was. Hopefully we win tonight and make yesterday and today memorable for a long time. -
Alexei would be ROY most years, just not this one. It doesn't take away from how wonderful of a player he is or how likable he is though, as well as the fact he will likely be a very good player for us for a long time.

Minnesota @ Chicago - One Game Playoff
whitesoxfan101 replied to Heads22's topic in 2008 Season in Review
Not much that can or needs to be said for this game. Hopefully John Danks brings it and the offense brings it and we can play more than 163. PLEASE WIN, GO SOX. -

QUOTE (rangercal @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 02:17 PM) It seems like the Cowboys always abandon the run while in catchup mode. I think it's silly to run 0 back sets too. Why not keep the defense guessing? Because they have to keep their high maintenance diva happy. And even after trying to force him the ball 18 times and handing him 2 reverses (and this force feeding strategy cost them the game IMO), T.O. STILL whines about his touches. A game like that reminds you why a team with T.O. will never win a Super Bowl. The only reason the Eagles even got to one was his injury IMO. -
Detroit @ Chicago - 1:05 PM WGN/ESPN2

So the game starts at the time I expected it to be over. The anticipation is killer. -
Your political compass Economic Left/Right: 0.50 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -2.82 I would love further analysis as to where this leaves me, because I'm not totally sure what it means. I did answer the questions honestly though, so this is where I actually stand.

So if I have this correct, my choices here are: 1. Hope for a bailout, which basically would be a case of socialism to ease economic crisis, or 2. Hope for no bailout, which would cause Wall Street Armageddon. Is death an option here?

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Sep 27, 2008 -> 01:58 PM) Don't you hate that? I mean, some girls just can't seem to take a hint. I hate doing it too, but sometimes you just have to come off as a jackass for them to leave you alone. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Sep 27, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) And sometimes that won't even work, unless you're EXTREMELY harsh. Both of you are exactly right. I hate doing it, but damn if the girl can't take a hint, it must be done. Also, you must be VERY harsh in order to get it through the girls head something. Fortunately, I was VERY harsh and am 100 percent confident that this young lady will never talk to me again. Also fortunately, I don't consider any of her friends as friends of mne, so I don't have to worry about that factor either.

Great win for the Bears. With as bad as this division is, and considering the fact the Bears have been right in all of their games and against tought opponents, they are in pretty decent shape. -
QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 04:02 PM) Congrats to the Brewers. Really glad to see them not choke again this year. The Ryan Braun home run in the 8th was as great a case of theatre as you'll ever see in the regular season. 26 years is far too long to wait to go to the playoffs, the Hebrew Hammer wasn't even born the last time they made the playoffs and he was the man that hit the homer to put them in today. I'm glad they made it.

QUOTE (WinningUgly85 @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 04:38 PM) Seriously Freddy Garcia is going to be on a mission to prove to Ozzie that hes still got what it takes and he's also gonna prove to the Tigers entire organization that he's worth resigning. Sox must be in top form tomorrow. None of that will make him throw harder. Be patient, stay back, use the opposite field, and Freddy will give up some runs. Floyd HAS to step up.
-
The irony of Freddy Garcia pitching us out of the postseason would just be unbearable. PLEASE win tomorrow fellas. The musical choice of "I'm still alive" by Pearl Jam as the final credits rolled on Comcast was perfect. Let's get it done tomorrow and play 163!!

QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 09:29 AM) Karma is a b****. Everything I have ever wished on a Cub fan is happening to me. This i'll disagree with. Everything that happens to Cub fans and everything we wish on them is deserved because they are a bunch of f***ing morons. The interesting thing about this collapse is that it's not a true epic collapse in that the race was close all year and we've never really led by more than 2.5 games since mid-July. What makes it a collapse (and an all time time, epic one at that) is all the losses and chances Minnesota has given us, before and even after they swept us, and our inability to take advantage.

One other thing. Looking at Northwestern's record and their schedule....they are setup to have a FANTASTIC season. Like as in making an elite Big 10 bowl played in the month of January. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2008 -> 11:26 PM) This three day's rest thing is annoying. Why did we go to it anyway? Cause of the Broadway-Richard option? Is this an example of Kenny not getting us a Harden type at the break? Not flaming just wondering how we got in this 3 days rest mess? If you use Broadway or Richard, it's almost an automatic loss because you'll have to dip into the middle relief/bullpen in general pretty early on. I guess they figured the starters could throw on three days rest. Unfortunately, most of us (actually, just about all of us on this board) realized starting guys on three days rest would be a disaster and that's exactly what has happened.

Alabama is going to be #2 tomorrow, with Mizzou #3 and Oklahoma obviously #1. What a crazy day. Wisconsin, I don't know what the hell that was in the 2nd half. I still don't know how good Penn State is as Illinois played AWFUL tonight in Happy Valley, but the top of the Big 10 is just abysmal this year so the Nittany Lions have a shot at winning the league. Whoever does win the Big 10 is probably going to be smashed in their BCS game, which of course will be great for the league /sarcasm. Other than that, I'm glad NIU won big and college football is fun because nobody really knows anything about who is good and who isn't. All we do know is chaos will eventually reign supreme. -
For the first time since Wednesday (the only game all week I thought we'd win going into it), I actually think we will win this game. Mark needs to throw 7 or 8 innings, the offense needs to do what it did the last two days, and I think we will actually get it done and win this game. Hopefully I'm right, and we can evaluate things on Monday and see if we're playing for Tuesday or a division title. PLEASE SOX, make me and everybody else calling you a bunch of chokers and quitters look stupid. PLEASE.

The season has positives to draw from personnel wise and for the future (more than I'd have ever guessed), but that's it. I will not have a single positive memory of this season if they complete the collapse and fail to make the playoffs. Not one. I do think we'll win tomorrow though (only the 2nd time all week I've felt that way), so hopefully they can do so.

Who would you like to see gone before '09?
whitesoxfan101 replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
A.J. Toby Fields (trade him while you can get anything for him) Crede Swisher Linebrink (trade him while you can get anything for him) Jenks (trade him while he has value) Carrasco Owens (no real value to the major league team) Griffey (washed up) Wise (being exposed for what he is) Vazquez Logan MacDougal (no control) Ramirez (bad) Wassermann (bad) Williams Guillen (I know that's not realistic, but that's my answer to the specific question asked). If they don't have a parenthesis notation after their name, I think they've quit. -
Javy must be traded. You can't bring him back after everything that has happened, both in terms of how he's pitched and how he's handeled other things, during his last 3 starts. Javy and A.J. jawing is cute though. Both of them have CLEARLY quit (although they aren't the only ones) and that's been the case for a couple weeks now, so they would have a lot to talk about.
-
We SHOULD win tomorrow. Even with everything that has happened, WE SHOULD win tomorrow. If that happens (and I think it will), let's see what we're playing for Monday. That's the only thing I can say that isn't negative (even though it's more reality than negativity at this point).

2008 General Election Discussion Thread

It amazes me how bad both VP candidates are. Palin is worse, but they both just completely suck. It has ruined whatever enthusiasm I had about the presidential candidates, because I question their decison making everytime I see their VP's. -
I just watched it, and nothing of real note or relevance happened in my opinion. Both sides stuck to their cliches and soundbites, and came off just as you expected. Nothing changed as a result of this debate, unless I clearly missed something.
