  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 10:43 PM) You have to f***ing try to walk Everett Well none of those 4 pitches were within a foot, so he did a hell of a job. Double barreled activity in the Mariners pen, Moyer might be done thank God.
  2. Thatta boy Jon, getting a pop up outta Sexson. 1 out.
  3. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 10:37 PM) Yeah, I find myself saying "it's okay, we won the big show already." But still, thats just a dumb mistake. If they would have scored, I would have been very, very pissed. It's the West Coast Mystique! Any and all "bad luck mystique" we have died last October. Relax!! Even if we were to lose tonight because of that, we'd just win the next 2 and not care, that's why this team is so fun.
  4. I was laughing out loud when he made that f*** up and knew he'd pitch over it. I guess that's the difference between now and pre October 26, 2005......back then I'd have gone wild and cursed and got mad and said why us, but now I just laugh and say f*** it we will win anyways. And LMFAO at Ozzie!!!
  5. This is the same guy who lost his 1986 World Series ring for WEEKS....announced to the media it was lost, only to end up finding it under his own couch cushion. Yeah, what he says means little.
  6. I hope all the steroids and s*** he used so he could make the top 2 on the list both black and get all kinds of attention is worth it! He will never get half the respect his numbers say he should, and for good reason. He's the 2nd worst thing to happen for the game since the Black Soxs (1994 strike being the worst of course).
  7. Blew a chance for several more there, damned big park. Bring your A game Jon....
  8. Great idea by the Fish. You trade a pitcher with high value before he gets paid and with that trade you can move Cabrera back to the outfield and have a stud at 3rd base in Wright. Plus, the Fish have about a million stud arms in their system. But in the end, that trade is so obvious that even the Mets rejected it ASAP.
  9. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 01:52 PM) Guard height is over-rated, especially if you fit him into a scheme. Try him at the point. Not in the NBA if your a 2. If your a 2 in the NBA, you damn well better have height and length, unless your just a freak like Iverson was when he played 2 all those years and Gordon can be at times now and even Wade at 6'3 or 6'4 is "undersized" as a 2. Brown has the freakish ability however to play the 2 in the NBA despite his lack of height IMO, but I also don't think he has anywhere near the ability to play the point in the NBA.
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 11:28 AM) Ha, ya I'm almost positive that's what he meant. Shannon would probably be a 2nd round pick if he enters the draft, he should stay in school. Winner winner on both parts, but I wish he would go, doubtful he does. He'd be a top 5 lock this year.
  11. No way I'd drop HanRam, and I like Guillen with that lineup protection....umm Crosby and Nomar are both injury prone so my choice would be between those 2. I'd probably just dump Nomar, Crosby is younger and has more potential to stay healthy and put up numbers, as Nomar is in a bad lineup in a pitchers park. Just my $0.02 though.
  12. Shannon should really hire an agent, he's a great player and is MORE than ready for the NBA.
  13. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 01:28 AM) Paul Konerko (May 5th 2005) -- .190/.302/.430 -- To think some people here thought he would match his 40/117 performance from '04. Jermaine Dye (May 13th 2005) -- .192/.230/.358 -- To think some people here thought he could replace Maggs. /me thinks its a little early to be tossing around the "to thinks" Agreed, although Michaels journeyman career makes him more prone to continue to have mediocre numbers. But then again, you coulda said the same thing about Pods if he struggled early last year.
  14. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) Uh, you forgot Josh Barfield. That crop of up-and-coming players is crap IMO, even with Upton or whomever. There are some superstars and potential superstars to be found in that group, obviously, but if a knowledgeable baseball fan can only name like a dozen guys under the age of 27, then you have to admit that the situation is pretty f***ed up. Haha Barfield is Dominican or something I think? And your right, that's all I could name off the top of my head so it really points out it's a problem.

  16. EVERYBODY does it, simply a matter of who gets caught. Sad, wrong, but also true.
  17. Yep, the Illini could have had Cutler and Grossman before that if Turner wasn't an idiot. Oops.
  18. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 12:23 AM) Man, if they could move to San Antonio, that would be lovely. They have like half a dozen upper-tier pitching prospects, correct? And in their first year of rebuilding, they have this five man core: Miguel Cabrera 3B Hanley Ramirez SS Josh Willingham OF Mike Jacobs 1B Jeremy Hermida OF Miguel Olivo has an .880 OPS vs righthanders thus far in 27 ABs, which is obviously too small of a sample size to judge a guy on, but when you look at what he has done vs. righties in the past: 2005: .506 OPS, .192 AVG (193 ABs) 2004: .621 OPS, .196 AVG (214 ABs) 2003: .567 OPS, .220 AVG (231 ABs) What an absolute nightmare. I don't care how good you are defensively. If you are an automatic out against RHP, you don't deserve to start on a major league team. Olivo is a stopgap, definitely not a longterm plan. As for the Marlins in general, they actually have closer to a full dozen top pitching prospects in their system, some lively young arms on the team already (in the rotation and bullpen), and that core of Willingham/Ramirez/Hermida/Jacobs/Cabrera along with Dontrelle is pretty good. They will be back in a few years, but just not sure where they will be playing.
  19. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 11:26 PM) Man I tell ya what looking at the M's rotation they have REALLY improved from last year. If Pineiro has a good season, (starting off good right now) then they can be really a torn on the side in the AL West this year. Moyer-Pineiro-Hernandez-Washburn-Meche is really solid. Too bad their offense isn't that good especially Ichiro (of all people) hitting well below his usual self. (even though he has heated up now the last 5 games. Yeah they have definitely improved in that rotation, but they simply aren't hitting at all. This series could be more circa 2005 in that our pitching will have to (and will IMO) get it done, although I must say that EVERYBODY (other than Brian Anderson ) is happy we avoid King Felix this series, even if he hasn't been totally on his game so far this year.
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) It's still going to be hard to get African Americans to play baseball imo. I also agree that it's silly to worry about. Yep I'm not worried about it, and I agree it won't be easy to get a lot of african americans to play baseball. Among african americans, basketball is so far and away the #1 sport right now that I doubt it can be caught, however the number of african americans in baseball should be higher, but it's not a huge concern. Although, there are quite a few up and coming players now who are african american (Willis, Howard, Crawford, Weeks, Fielder, Crisp, Sabathia when healthy, maybe Brandon Phillips now , Alex Rios finally?, Granderson and Gathright?) but numbers are down.
  21. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) Omar infante should never bat at all. Fixed.
  22. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 09:12 PM) There has been a steady decline in the number of AA players for some time now. To sum it up in very general terms, they aren't playing baseball as kids. MLB has been trying to address the situation, but it's going to take some time to show results. Correct. Obviously it's a silly comparision, but MLB is working on getting AA kids to play ball kind of like the Sox are working on kids period to get them to be Sox fans with things like Fundementals. You may not see the results now, but a decade from now and 2 decades from now you will.
  23. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 08:12 PM) And who wins Gold Gloves on a consistent basis, sprinkled with the occasional Cy Youngs? Another good game by Maddux today. Yep, dude is money in the regular season. Call him Mr. May
  24. Phillips goes 3 for 6 with a homer and 4 RBI's today, so as of now: .372 average, 3 homers, 17 RBI's, 7 runs, 16 for 43 at the plate overall.
  25. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 05:39 PM) Way to be creative in creating a thread title. Haha, that thread is a Buehrle lovefest basically, and I think Jose deserves the same respect. Not many guys have pitched better than Buehrle lately, but Count is one of them.
