U.S. Training Camp Roster Released
whitesoxfan101 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Those Euro forwards would drop 50 on Morrison no problem with his sorry ass defense and lack of athletic ability. No thanks, although I'd like to see J.J. and Oden get a shot, Oden is just that dominant and J.J. is just that deadly shooting. -
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) Why do I know this name? I believe he's from Chicago (Joliet) and went to Ohio, now word is he's transferring here. Yep Joliet. He and Leon Williams tore it up as freshmen last year at Ohio, leading them to a MAC Title and giving Florida a scare in the dance. This year as a sophomore, he has really struggled, went through some personal issues, and has decided to transfer. I saw him in one of his last games several weeks back at NIU, and he looked so lost on the floor. Wasn't paying attention on either end, seemed kind of out of it. However, he is VERY talented and will be a 4th year junior at his new school (after redshirting next year) in 2007-2008. He could be a very good 2 year player for his new team.

This depends on your defintion of "combo guard". Usually, a combo guard is a guy who's about 6'3 190, a bit of a tweener who's not really big enough to play the 2, but doesn't have the ball handling ability to run the point (aka combo guard is a put down). Mayo is a combo guard, but calling him that is a compliment, as he's big enough to play the 2 and also a good enough ball handler to run the point.

If the Bulls draft Adam Morrison, I might cry. If they take Morrison over Aldridge, I'll consider finding a new team. -

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Mar 1, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) Shane Battier, Memphis Bruce Bowen, San Antonio Josh Howard, Dallas These are guys I would realistically take Ridnour or Hinrich over. Ok, let's review. Yeah, you could take Ridnour or Hinrich over him, but it's close. I'll assume your kidding. He's EXACTLY what the team needs, a shutdown defender who is money from the perimeter. I'll take him over Ridnour or Hinrich no question. I guess you could argue Hinrich over Battier or Ridnour, but that's it. -
1 in 1,000?!?!? Even I know the 5 tentants......wow.

Bije's on Irving Park on the Northwest Side has the best pizza I've ever had, and it's not even close. And this comes from a guy who's eaten pizza from dozen's and dozen's of local places.

Royals bracing for Greinke's prolonged absence
whitesoxfan101 replied to SSH2005's topic in The Diamond Club
Sad story, and I hope the kid gets better mentally and emotionally. However, with that said, do they need to brace for his absence ON THE FIELD? He went like 4-18 last year, and we were the only team he ever pitched well against. -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 10:42 PM) I suspect the people who are awed by the time it took to do this have never used Google Earth... I would estimate that it took about as long to type it up as it did to record the data. In any event, thanks for the info. That would be correct. It took me longer to type up the report that started this thread than it did to do the experiment on Google Earth. However, I still have way too much free time. Comes with the territory when your just a spoiled full time college student. The image isn't up to the second, however the dimensions in it are updated with the renovations, so the numbers are accurate. -
U.S. Training Camp Roster Released
whitesoxfan101 replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Only player you can argue Hinrich over is Ridnour, and they are really both similar players. Neither would make the final roster anyway, as every other player is better than both of them. -
Who are you picking to win it all?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) And they can't. I doubt a Big 10 team can even make the Final 4. Oh, and UConn will win it all, they are too damn good. -

QUOTE(FoxySoxGirl @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 08:06 PM) Please just say this was at least done at work where you got paid to be this bored, or maybe if you're in school still a lab session that was equally as boring?? Haha, I'm in school and some girl was b****ing to me on IM at the time I did this (which was after I got home on a Saturday night). Only took about 20 minutes, it actually took me almost as long to do the first post of this thread as it did to do the measurements. -

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) That's scary dude. Although I probably would have done the same thing if Google Earth worked on my computer. My computer is only 2 months old, so it works perfect on here. Yeah, I'd probably do this with RFK and the Marlins Stadium next time I get that bored, they supposedly have way inaccurate markings for distance (and I went to a game in Miami last year, that place is even bigger than it's marked IMO.....I sat in the RF bleachers and you practically had to squint to see the right fielder). -
NFL Labor Talks Break down
whitesoxfan101 replied to WHarris1's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 07:44 PM) Let me say this as clearly as I can: There will NOT be a work stoppage in the NFL. No league has EVER had as much to lose in a work stoppage as the NFL has right now. Even a short work stoppage could damage the NFL as much as teh whole 94 strike did baseball, and a protracted one could empty stadiums for years. That league is such a money making machine right now that they'd be better off having snipers at the games trying to take out the players and management than having a work stoppage. Well then one side is going to have to back down if there isn't a deal by the Friday deadline. The owner side isn't going to sign a new deal with a cap, and the players (and Upshaw) himself have said if there isn't a cap in 2007, they won't accept another deal with a cap. I agree with you the NFL would SOOO stupid to go through with it with all the money they make, but the power of greed can make common sense disappear. -

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) whitesox101, your team looks very good. only quarrel i have is foster being only third team, and butler not being on the team at all. i also think foster could factor in as defensive player of the year. Foster was the one I was most unsure about. I just couldn't put him ahead of either MSU guard, they are so damn good (too bad nobody on their team cares besides them and Davis) and IMO Horton has been the best guard in the league. That leaves Foster and Dee, and IMO you could easily switch their positions on my team and I'd have no problem with it, I just put Dee 1st team because of how damn valuable he is to Illinois, whereas I still think Ohio State is DAMN good even without Foster. I know the system isn't too fair, but I had to come up with a "tie breaker". And Foster is a damn good defender, but IMO Randle and Hansen have been on a different level this year (although I'd have Foster 3rd). -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) I was at the game and it was basically dream like. I honestly couldn't tell you which one meant more to me cause well they both won the game for us. I also have heard that game 2 was the loudest park anyone has ever been to but I couldn't tell you as I couldn't even hear the darn crowd after either homer cause I was just going nuts and was basically in my own world at that time, pure bliss. I would have loved to have been there man. I thought I could never go to a game that topped Illinois/Arizona in my life, but that would have definitely done it. I wish for that night The Cell would have been domed, it might have been the loudest damn place in the history of sports that night if the noise had nowhere to go.
