  1. A.J. Burnett=Kerry Wood 2.0 Just a horrid signing by the Blue Jays, this contract will quickly turn into an albatross.
  2. I'd continue to start McBride....he was playing real well before the Hammy problem popped up. Plus, Jamar is a freshman, so who knows about how he would handle being put into the pressure packed spot of starting 2 guard for the Illini as a true freshman. I would however give Jamar a lot more minutes (ie, how much he played tonight) then he has gotten this year in all the other games.
  3. The Orton/Grossman thing honestly isn't even an argument anymore. As soon as he's ready, Grossman should (and IMO will) be the QB, end of story. Orton is the worst QB in the NFL and it's not even close, and him playing QB and the Bears winning have NOTHING to do with each other. Orton on ANY other team would be about 3-9 this year, but damn did he find the right situation or what?
  4. The Bulls simply cannot afford to lose winnable road games like this, as they aren't a great road team as it is. This one hurts.
  5. Indiana will AWESOME inside with White and Killingsworth.....but their guards are awful, and Mike Davis blows as an in game coach. Should be interesting to see what they do this season.
  6. Loudest I've ever heard was the Arizona/Illinois elite 8 game last year, especially when Williams hit the 3 to tie it. My ears literally hurt for 2 days after that game.
  7. Paulie is the perfect combo..... a great guy who is extremely arrogant about his ability to play baseball. Man I'm glad he's coming back for the next several years.
  8. Duke was fortunate to escape against Memphis....be interesting to see what happens tonight when they don't have the crowd or refs on their side.
  9. QUOTE(qwerty @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 11:35 PM) I thought she was jumping up and down with another son the entire game... well anytime hansbrough did something good...? She was. I was being sarcastic, but sadly wasn't sure which color you put sarcasm in around here.
  10. Man, the Bulls looked about ready to go 3-6 late in that game at LA....but since then, a comeback win, and 3 more in a row after to get to 7-5 Nice.
  11. Also, apparently Indiana and Duke play tomorrow, although I think they under advertised for it during the game. Oh, and I heard Tyler Hansbrough's mom was in attendance, but why didn't they show her on camera?
  12. Some positives about that Illinois game are that Jamar Smith is a spectacular shooter and better defender than I thought, and Brian Randle could be excellent if he'd stop taking stupid fouls. Also, IMO Shaun Pruitt is under utilized.
  13. Illini are playing like garbage, but finding ways to win. The development of the team will improve greatly when Brown is moved back to off guard where he belongs.
  14. QUOTE(3E8 @ Nov 29, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) I feel sorry for Illini fans that have to listen to this.. That bad huh? I mute any game Dick Vitale announces and put on the radio and/or music (no kidding).
  15. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 11:34 PM) :headshake :headshake :headshake :puke :puke :puke It was really interesting to watch (I was in the front row of the NIU Student Section). DePaul has a lot of talent, but it appeared to be a very poorly coached team. DePaul played very good defense I thought, but NIU is a high powered offensive team and just made some plays to get their points. However, DePaul's offense was HORRIBLY executed.....no ball movement, ZERO post prescence....the offense was basically let's hope Meijia can penetrate and get himself or somebody else an easy shot, otherwise fire up a tough 3 pointer.
  16. That's part of the issue against Duke. You have to beat them, which is very tough as it is, BUT you also have to beat the officials. Not an easy task.
  17. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 11:14 PM) palehose, do I have any hope IU could pull off an upset Wednesday night? If you play well, yes. Duke is very good, but they can definitely be beaten (if that makes sense).
  18. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 11:17 PM) If Izzo wants him, he can have him If Tubby wants him...... you are seeing a theme here Yep, and that is a nightmare senario for you if Weber starts recruiting well.
  19. For the 2nd straight year, NIU beats DePaul. I know DePaul isn't spectacular this year, but still a nice win and hopefully is a confidence builder for the Huskies.
  20. I think he will steal more than 4 bases, but I like those projections, and IMO they are realistic if he gets a real chance to play everyday.
  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 08:38 AM) I think it'd be more accurate to say he hasn't lost. I agree with you, although as a Bear fan who realizes the truth about Orton, I feel i'm fighting a losing battle here.
  22. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 08:38 AM) no doubt. rose and gordon are supposed to play against each other on dec. 17 in a shootout in indianapolis. in one of the other games greg oden and mike conley's team will take on proviso east. it will be interesting to see oden and carlwell match-up, although given his talent i'd say oden will probably get the best of that one. I am very interested in the matchup you mention in the end of your post. Oden is much more polished than Carlwell, who is still raw (and therefore, not quite as highly ranked as Oden, although still a great prospect) but I think Carlwell's defensive ability against Oden could be fun to watch. (And yes, I'll admit my split allegiances right now. I grew up an Illini fan, but am now a student at NIU. I figure I can like 2 teams in college at least. )
  23. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 11:46 PM) I agree with you even though some bear fans are blind and think he is good Orton is the worse starting QB in the NFL right now... worse than losman and harrington. But idonno how you consider our OC the worse in the league... he is using a rookie QB and is still finding a way to give us one of the best rushing attacks in the league......If we had an actual capable QB our offense might be pretty good. Well I'm biased against Turner, but he definitely had a rough day at least yesterday. Also, our running game has to do with having very good tailbacks and a solid, veteran offensive line IMO. And as for the Bears having a good offense if their QB was worth anything.......shh don't say that!! Orton is awesome, he wins!!! :headshake
  24. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 28, 2005 -> 07:45 AM) bruce weber deals a blow to the "can't recruit top players" theory: eric gordon chooses illinois obviously this won't be official until he signs on the line, but given the fact that illinois has always been his leader, i'm confident he will be an illini. big-time committment for illinois. Great news for the Illini on many counts. It blows down the "Weber can't recruit" door, and also, Gordon is close friends with Derrick Rose, another 5 star class of 2007 recruit. I would be very surprised if Illinois doesn't also get Gordon sometime in the near future, and that backcourt under Weber's coaching could be terrifying in the Big 10.
