  1. Watching this with the sound off on my phone, it seemed like they didn’t know they won the game. I thought for a second Abreu came off the bag based on the la k of reaction by the team.
  2. Positive - Luis Robert. He looks to be for real. I’m sure he’ll struggle at times, but it is going to be hard for him to miss. Going back to Spring Training, the vibe of this team had me as excited about the Sox as I’ve been in 10+ years. Then COVID hit. I was fine without it - felt no need to rush back. The warm up games had me ready and anticipating good things. I don’t live and die daily with every game like some fans, but this has been really a depressing start to this sprint of a season. Starting pitching has been abysmal.
  3. They can personalize it though. I’m hoping someone in the Sox production department is combing through the archives and pulling some sound that’s unique to the Sox. That’s why I mentioned Nancy Faust, etc. The murmur of the crowd and ballpark sounds was always very apparent on Sox radio broadcasts.
  4. I saw him for the first time in 2019 Spring Training. I was sitting down the 3rd base line and saw him trot to his spot in LF. Clumsy is an understatement. I didn’t know anything about him defensively, and I knew we were in trouble just based on seeing him run.
  5. Enforcement of any mask mandate is the issue. If a store has a mask policy, and a customer refuses to comply, how is a private company supposed to react? A teller or stocker or store greeter approaches the customer? If/when the customer resists, what then? Even if it’s a federal mandate, enough people will refuse because they believe their individual rights > the common good. We have a deeply ingrained sense of entitlement as a society that makes a situation like this near impossible to manage.
  6. Mendick’s number and ‘stache a nod toward Jerry Dybzinski in the ‘83 unis. I like it. Might as well lean into it.
  7. I watched parts of the games this week on ESPN and the mlb app, and I think the games benefit from the background noise. I hope the Sox pull some actual sound from the past to mix in (Nancy Faust playing the organ, Andy the Clown, vendors, etc) to give it a little more character. Right now it’s just a steady hum or buzz.
  8. Some of the records might not seem legit. For example, if someone hits .400, it won’t feel like as big of an accomplishment.
  9. If they play a full post season, I’d say it’s legit.
  10. We had 12 straight days of 110 degrees here in AZ. Is the hot weather here yet? I’m tired of COVID 19.
  11. Not sure how accurate this is in terms of the percentages, but it makes sense.
  12. If the Sox would have held on to all those jerseys sale cut up, they could have repurposed them and made a fortune on masks. Who knew?
  13. Same. A car gets me from point A to point B and back. I just want something reliable and comfortable.
  14. Why can’t Greg get a haircut? Why can’t Greg go to church? Why can’t Greg sit in the park? Why are you worried now? There have only been 60 cases in your county.
  15. I’m confused. Haven’t you been advocating for public places to be opened? Now you are worried about a potential spread (due to protests)?
  16. Sean Connery competed in Mr. Universe in 1953.
  17. On one hand, I agree. It doesn’t make sense to me to break the windows of a business or loot stores. On the other hand, Colin Kaepernick tried to protest the same issue silently by simply kneeling, and he was vilified. Im not really sure what alternative form of protest will actually make a difference.
  18. If you watch the entire Faici video, his answer is more nuanced. Fauci is saying using masks is ineffective if not used properly. That’s why he points out non-medical people adjusting them (which potentially contaminates the mask). If you wear a mask but go about your day with a false sense of security and don’t change your habits (hand washing, touching your face, social distancing), you are likely not as safe as you may think.
  19. I’m still going to start a 2020 attendance thread so we can add pandemic to the list of reasons Sox fans don’t go to games.
  20. I’m sure our Commander in Chief is well aware that approximately 20% of the USPS workforce are his fellow veterans - some of whom I’m sure are similarly proud of their Purple Hearts. A little hard to believe he’s going to dismantle it and leave them jobless despite them being tagged essential workers who kept working during the coronavirus and work for an entity established by his beloved Constitution. Surely, he’ll come around, stop badmouthing the USPS, and start doing the PSAs the closer we get to the election.
  21. I went to one Bulls game in the Jordan era. It was the year Jordan was out with his broken foot. I can’t believe I didn’t save up and go to at least one game, but I remember it being pretty expensive. Oh well. The series was great. I know that it’s mostly about MJ, but I think it could have given a little more time to the ‘94 Bulls. Scottie was incredible that season. A little more backstory on Kukoc’s transition to the team. More about how Krause built the team. Not a huge complaint. None of it happens without MJ, but some of the time spent on his security could have been cut, for example, to make room for more of the teammates.
