  1. There's many ways to think about it but it seems like the Sox are trying to leverage the next three years and Hendricks is trying to leverage being 31 in a COVID offseason.
  2. "best pitch in baseball is first pitch fastball strike" Good advice maybe 50 years ago when most guys weren't capable of hitting a good fastball 400 feet. These guys are geared up now for heat and as we've seen the last few years the idea that you can't "pitch backwards" over and over has been proven an old wife's tale. Plenty of guys are now having success throwing well under 60% fastballs.
  3. lol, well damn. it's a good time to be a sox fan honestly. we're b****ing about shit that we haven't b****ed about in a decade.
  4. Madrigal managed to be -4.7 runs below average on the bases. That's in 30 games. For comparison Kong's worst years were usually around -6 to 9 (nice) in 3x the playing time. That's some impressively bad base running by Nick.
  5. No shit. Kid is the dumbest "smart player" I ever saw. Guess they just give that label to you if you're 5-7" and on the "freedom fighter" color tone scale.
  6. Springer is down to Mets and Blue Jays and is seeking 5 years and around 150 million: the Sox never had a shot.
  7. Don't know much about him other than his Fangraphs but the lack of innings might be a good thing for his price and his health.
  8. Stiever is not going to get it done, but yea, I agree with your assessment of Musgrove.
  9. His stats are similar to Q's in his prime, sign me up. But as noted, what's the cost? It's too bad they already fired the Dunning bullet.
  10. Exactly. Thanks for distilling my post down to its essence. This is what adding to an already good team (that has pay roll limits) looks like. Maybe it's been so long nobody know it when they see it.
  11. Remember when Chicago "won the offseason" by getting Shark and company? How did that work out... Being "aggressive" isn't worth jack shit in itself. The Sox have had a pretty boring offseason with some pretty standard moves for a team that doesn't have a lot of cash and is entering their window. You can b**** and moan about JR's pocket book all you want he's never going to be an owner that "spends just to spend". But here we are yelling about it again.
  12. Yea sure, but isn't there like a good chance the Sox will be outbid?
  13. As much as I want to believe this rumor unless like Jose is his paternal father or some shit it makes zero sense why he'd lock himself in like this.
  14. Fuck the MLB man. Fans want to see these players ASAP. Just a disheartening situation.
  15. Rick Hahn is the only thing standing between the White Sox and a Bulls under GarPax like stretch. Be careful what you wish for. And of fucking course I see Ray explaining Gaussian distributions and power laws like he just read Nassim Taleb or some shit in a thread about Hahn possibly interviewing in Philly. Dude, what the fuck goes through your head before you post sometimes? You're lucky the mods allow you to pollute every thread with your off topic screeching.
  16. They already did! That's the thing. This is just sand bagging to sand bag and of course the players are going to b**** and moan too.
  17. MLB: Has a wildly successful restart. MLB: We should delay the start of the season because of unknowns. STFU! Play ball you idiots. Rob Manfred has his hand in this no doubt.
  18. Wow seeing it back-loaded like that makes it sting a bit even though there was zero chance he was coming back to be a backup. The new Mets ownership appears to know what they are doing, that's good for baseball.
  19. Wow, what a thread. Sandusky references and ray doing his thing. Tex said it all, yes, hell yes you would take that season from Eaton. Then you pick up his option and you have strong trade bait or in house affordable production for 2022.
  20. Sox to James: James we have an offer you can't refuse: we'll pay you less, with less years, to get less playing time than you would in New York. James: Where do I sign?
