QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 09:54 AM) Yikes, SM3 is quite a damning statement Yup. Half way through the movie I was glancing over at Jen & apologizing for having convinced her to watch it.

Don't feel very impressed by this Packers defense.

And Randall Cobb of the Packers fumble the responding kickoff. Packers are on the ropes early

Cam Newton just dismantled the Packers defense on the opening drive. Gained probably 110 yards and threw for 2 TD's on the drive; had a couple of formation penalties that nullified plays.

Chapter 151: the future (6:10pm, CSN)
QUOTE (VictoryMC98 @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 10:45 PM) What kind of conspiracy is that? Never once did I hear ozzie state he needed Dunn or Rios.. that was all on Kenny. At the end of the day, this team failed because it was built on Offense.. ie a KW built ball club. The only time Ozzie's ever stated that he needed players/didn't need players was when he was asking for Kotsay and ripping Thome and Viciedo.

For you guys... You're damned right it'll revive accusations that he put GWB in office.

Chapter 151: the future (6:10pm, CSN)
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 10:40 PM) You're right, KW received zero blame at all for the Hudson/Jackson debacle of a trade...false. I truly don't think anyone would be upset if both KW and Ozzie get let go. What people are worried about is if KW gets let go and Ozzie stays. My statement for weeks has been that the only thing which could save kenny's job is telling the Chairman that spending $125 this year was a high risk move. I could see the Chairman having gone in on spending that kind of money to save Ozzie's job even if Kenny said it was likely to fail.

2012 Manager's Traits
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 09:24 PM) I've never felt like Ozzie got along well with the young players on the team. He would with some of them, but it's impossible to predict this one. Viciedo seems like the kind he ought to like, but defeating the evil critics is more important!

Chapter 151: the future (6:10pm, CSN)
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 10:35 PM) There are folks on on here who "believe" that if De Aza and Viciedo replaced Dunn and Rios a month earlier the Sox would still be fighting it out for the divisional lead with the Tigers. Honestly. And there are folks who believe that Ozzie has done a good job this year.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 08:29 PM) Stewart just doesn't have good stuff. Really can't project him as a starter Brent Morel just doesn't have the power to play a corner IF position. Really can't project him as a starter.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 16, 2011 -> 02:33 PM) I rented Thor on wednesday, I really enjoyed it. Tom Hiddleston and Anthony Hopkins played their parts very well. Hemsworth was good, but TH and AH stole the show totally disagree. Thought Thor was at Spiderman 3 level. Found the characters stale, incredibly hard to buy, found the relationships to be stone, couldn't get into the film at all. Wife had the plot figured out about 4 minutes into the film.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) They pretty much won despite him. But Orton really did develop into a decent QB in 08. All I'm saying...calling Orton a bad QB is unfair. Dude's acceptable. He's not carrying you to a super bowl, but a number of teams would get better if they acquired him and used him as their starter.

I also want a manager who doesn't publicly rip his rookies to prove that his critics are wrong every time his rookies struggle.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 06:57 PM) Is this sarcasm? The only reason anyone liked him in Chicago was because Grossman was the other option, even than the fanbase was split down the middle. Kyle Orton went what, 10-3 in a mediocre offense as a rookie?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 05:49 PM) To be fair, Quinn played on a completely different team, and different system than Tebow. Its a system that has made Kyle Orton look good. Stop and think about that for a minute. Kyle orton is not a bad QB, come on man. He was good enough in Chicago that people were clamoring for him constantly and he won a lot fo games there. Orton is good enough that 2-3 teams were interested in trading for him as a starter.

Official 2011-2012 NCAA Football Thread
QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) yeah it is. seems like the past few games at Florida, Tennessee just shoots themselves in the foot to start and gets behind early. Missed FGs, blocked punts, bad penalties, etc. But they caught a break with the Gators trying to run that trick play for a big loss. Florida had the chance to go for the kill and they blew it. I think that the thing breaking them mentally today was seeing Hunter go down.

2012 Manager's Traits
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 06:33 PM) Its pretty interesting he had nothing to say before this 0-20, and he did have him bat clean up the last week. Ozzie is an ass. I think Ozzie genuinely dislikes him, deep down. I don't think it has anything to do with him as a person, I just think that Ozzie wants him to fail so that he's proven right. He's like a certain set of posters here who show up when the team is losing big in game threads.

Cooper and/or Ozzie status could affect MB coming back next year
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 06:27 PM) I've got no problems dumping Ramirez as long as the return is what you should get for a premier SS. I think the guy has too many mental lapses and they seem to be more frequent as the seasons go by, but SS is such an important position, regular filler won't do. That said, KW or a new GM will have to be blown away to deal him, and righfully so even with all his warts. It all depends on what we need to do next year. If the payroll has to drop to $100 million or lower...then you might just have to.

2012 Manager's Traits
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 05:57 PM) He should be someone who won't pop off this: Guillen couldn’t resist taking a poke at those who questioned why it took so long for Dayan Viciedo to be brought up from Class AAA. Viciedo, who hasn’t hit a home run since his first game of the season on Aug. 28 at Seattle, was hitless in his last 12 at-bats and didn’t start Friday. “Right now ‘The Tank’ is going through a tough time, our savior,” Guillen said. “Remember the guy who was going to take us to the top? He’s had a tough time. I’m going to give him a break.” OH FOR F***'S SAKE YOU COULDN'T RESIST COULD YOU? DAY 1 WHEN HE'S UP, SAME LINE. DAY 30, GOTTA RUB THE SALT IN THE WOUND MORE!!!!

Chapter 151: the future (6:10pm, CSN)
QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 17, 2011 -> 05:53 PM) 34 RBIS from the 8/9 hole isn't terrible, especially considering he's going to end up with just 400 ABs. You're only going to max out at 70 or so RBIS from that position with 550 PAs anyway. And considering that 3 of the guys hitting in front of him have been Dunn, Rios, and Beckham...it's not like he's had a lot of chances.
