9/9 White Sox @ Athletics
2nd is where you put the best hitter in your lineup in modern thinking. Gets the 2nd most at bats per game plus runners on from the lead off hitter in front of him.

Jesus 55 pitches through 6?

Apparently we will need some of that new found offense in the next 4 innings.

Are you…actually Boone Logan?

TLR out for the year
I don’t know how this is going to end up but the idea that a head coach could be this much of a drag on a baseball team is just remarkable.

TLR out for the year
The team remains significantly more talented on paper than 2020. You mention the rotations - Giolito, Keuchel having an unbelievable season, Dunning and Cease as rookies, and Lopez were that rotation. Giolito, Lynn, Cease, Kopech, and Cueto? Davis Martin is the 6th starter on this team and he could have legitimately started playoff game 3 for the White Sox in 2020.

War in Ukraine
After months of grinding artillery exchanges, the offensive that Ukraine began last week has seemingly staged a major breakthrough and is on the verge of overrunning Russia's key supply point in Eastern Ukraine at Kupiansk. That city is a central rail junction through which a large fraction of the artillery used in Ukraine's east has flowed, and it is the only crossing point on the river to the north of thousands of Russian troops in the Izyum area - who are now on the verge of either being cut off from supplies or forced to retreat through narrow corridors under artillery bombardment. Ukraine has probably liberated more territory this week than the Russians have conquered since the beginning of July. This has really been an impressive offensive. It followed a long period of encouraging Russian forces to move to the south where Ukraine kept saying an offensive was coming - the Ukranian army launched a series of small advances in their south, then this front exploded a couple days later as they surged through. They got the Russians to move most of their supplies and men to the Kherson region where they're now stuck as most of the bridges have been blown up, left a skeleton defense in this zone, made the Russians and everyone else think the southern offensive was starting, and then a brand new army slammed into the zone the Russians had evacuated.

Is Elvis Andrus a possibility to play second for us in 2023?
While he had a couple strong months, his offense has been weak for the last month and his defense lately hasn’t been up to snuff either. He tried very hard to lose yesterday’s game on both sides of the ball and only failed because the Mariners made more bad plays.

There are a few things they could do such as stretching it out over 12 years to lower the yearly impact, but just to use this year’s contract - Correa is currently paid $35 million. The White Sox have a 2022 payroll of $195 million and have about $165 or $170 million on the books for next year depending on whether they keep Engel. Any version of a Correa signing I can conceive pushes their 2023 payroll higher than their 2022 payroll and that’s with Davis Martin as their 5th starter. Adding a back of the rotation starter on top of that could push them to the luxury tax.

And that’s $20 to $30 million with them maybe holding some money back for the trade deadline, and assuming no payroll cuts which remains iffy and you better hope for a couple playoff series wins to make that happen. So yeah, they could probably sign an OF and a starter, but you better hope for a Cueto like performance from one of them just to match this year. And oh yeah, this bullpen still isn’t very good either. So at the very least this is a tough task.

That's a White Sox Come Back Series Winning Winner !
Velocity was good, control wasn’t. Otherwise same good and bad as the rest of the year, only working two pitches, moderately effective with each, gets in trouble if someone gets on base because he’s liable to walk someone or groove a ball.

First problem is you’re off by $10 million. I just added again including Pollock and Anderson and got $141 million and change. Fix that and I basically agree. Take those arb numbers and you’re right around $170 million give or take arb numbers and who they let go. So let’s work with $190 million as the target. Imagine they sign Nimmo for $20 million a year. Using correct numbers, that has spent essentially your entire budget. Not only is that the only upgrade, but Davis Martin is the only 5th starter I see on the roster.

I still don’t think they have the money for this, but in this scenario I would imagine that signing an OF actually either benches Colas or more likely puts him at AAA until there’s an injury. It would be Pollock-Robert-Nimmo until injury, with Eloy and Sheets playing fairly regularly out there and Engel on the bench.

You realize if Rodriguez gets up that is probably the matchup? Yikes.

He was way more into personal conflicts and making points about how he was in charge. We saw some of the same crazy lineup construction and guys getting benched for no obvious reason because Ozzie had to prove he made the lineups. And then there was all the personal stuff about him getting a contract and about his kids talking about the team. It was all just a mess.

Engel in to CF, Vaughn on the bench now.

Well um that was quite fast. I literally didn't have time to change gameday back from the Twins Yankees game to see how this went.

Twins finally scored in the 12th. 4-3 lead and have a runner on 3rd 1 out.

They may be leaving Kelly in to face Suarez.

Joe Kelly walked the leadoff hitter. It wasn't a bad decision but he literally walked their #1 hitter and the first guy he faced.

Ok the Yankees fans are probably going to have something trending on twitter after that half inning. That game is somehow going to the 12th after a bases loaded, no out bottom of the 11th.
