What moves have come back to bite Kenny?
Traded away? Chris Young for Javy Vazquez. Gio Gonzalez for Nick Swisher Nick Swisher for Marquez, Nunez, and Betemit. Josh Fogg and Kip Wells for Todd Ritchie Keith Foulke for Billy Koch and Neal Cotts (although the latter worked pretty well). Also on the list you can add guys like Rauch, Aardsma, Majewski, and Javier Lopez who have come back to be non-terrible or even pretty darn good in other teams's bullpens...but those are harder to criticize.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) All that would have done is exposed him quicker. That's not a bad thing with a 21 year old who needs to learn how to make adjustments to pitchers.

Catch All Anything Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 10:53 AM) CNBC just flashed the stat that a child born to middle class parents is expected to have an average of $286,050 spent on it by age 17. That does NOT include college. A family with two kids is expected to cost $600,000 during the same time period. So, the 2nd kid not only costs more than the first, it also very conveniently decides to cost the exact amount required to bring the total to exactly $600k? Man, those 2nd kids must be really good at math.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 10:34 AM) I do not understand why the Bears are not kicking the tires on our old friend Ogunleye. I am not comfortable with Anderson against the run. Someone please explain this to me, because I'm annoyed that we added Peppers, let AB and Adawale walk, and are supposed to believe the d-line will be better for this. I can't figure out why no one else in the league seems interested in him either. At some point, I tend to start thinking that the groupthink probably has a reason to back it up.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 10:07 AM) You have to think the price starts in the Sabathia/Santana range. Either 1 legit top 20 prospect or a combination of 2-3 Hudson level prospects. Sound fairly accurate to me.- And that is a White Sox Winner!!!
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 10:05 AM) I'm starting to think its best for him and the short and long term future of the team for him to work on making these adjustments with more regular at bats in TripleA. He has a chance to be something, but isn't now. If we weren't tied for first place...then leaving him in the big leagues and playing him regularly until he could learn to make adjustments would seem to be the right move...he's proven he's capable of hitting major league pitchers if they make mistakes to him or if they don't have a good plan...learning to beat them when they don't make a mistake is the next step. We just don't have the at bats to spare.- And that is a White Sox Winner!!!
QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 10:00 AM) 0-3, 7.50 ERA, 1.83 WHIP career at the cell. Those numbers are going to be dominated by the post-Tommy-John, still-not-recovered Liriano of 2007-2009.- And that is a White Sox Winner!!!
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 09:58 AM) And Dayan needs to make an adjustment at some point. He has zero pitch recognition and has a huge hole in his swing high and in. He's a 21 year old who's been in the U.S. for a year and a half and who hasn't faced anything close to MLB caliber pitching and scouting. Learning to make an adjustment is going to take him some time. That said...we don't have time to waste on developing anyone other than Kotsay while in this pennant race.- Official 2010-11 NFL Thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 09:55 AM) The other two QBs on Denver's roster are Orton and Brady Quinn, so if he does become their #1 QB, its really not that big of an accomplishment. SI- Financial News

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 12:01 AM) The ESPN ball sucking of Tim Tebow in denver is really annoying. They are acting like he is about to vault everyone and be the number one qb this year, I really dont see that happening This is why so many of us have flipped to NFL network and MLB Network. It's not about performance on the football field...it's about charisma on ESPN. It's about him being a beloved devoutly Christian athlete who performed admirably at a popular SEC school.- NBA Offseason Thread

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 12:06 AM) Let me put it this way. If you can tell me that turning 10,12, 15, or whatever million people who are here illegally won't get paid social security, or any other social service, after getting amnesty, without paying a lifetime into it, I will be for it . Until then, I will consider the cost savings a fact. Does this not translate therefore to you thinking the best circumstance is the status quo?- Blago Trial
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 12:36 AM) Is the jury star struck? I thought Blago was cut and dried guilty. Please tell us what is goin on? I think this case really became much, much harder for the prosecution to win when the Supreme Court declared that "honest services fraud" was not a legitimate charge you could bring against a public official a few months back. The old usage basically allowed prosecutors wide leeway to go after people who were clearly acting corruptly but who hadn't actually finished committing a crime. Without that, especially since they stepped in and arrested Blago before he'd actually taken the bribe on the Senate seat, the wiretaps they have of him became all the evidence they had, and it's much more plausible to believe a Blago defense of "he wasn't going to sell the seat for personal gain but he wanted to trade it for things that benefited Illinois like any good politician" defense since there's no actual check with Blago's name on it.- NBA Offseason Thread
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 06:55 AM) I thought the opposite actually. A guy as valuable as Collison (considering his age and contract) and the best they could get for him was a league average SF who's not a very good shooter. They certainly gave up value, but they turned that value in to perhaps the best wing playing SF that CP3 has had to play alongside since he was drafted. If you're looking at a 10 year plan to try to win a title it's probably not the best move...if you're expecting this to be the last season you have CP3 before the lockout and Free Agency...then you make that move.- THE CLUB - 2010
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 11:45 PM) The best line of the six episodes might have been Jerry telling Bud Selig that it said in the bible "Thou Shalt Not Put Ketchup on Hot Dogs." I'll stick with Cooper's "I missed a lot of this, is this going to be on your twitter later".- Ty Wigginton
If we could have had him before the Orioles series, we'd be a game up on the Twins. Now it's too late.- August White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 07:58 AM) He needs to go down for a few weeks and play every day and then come back up on September 1st. Love what i've seen out of him all things considered, and am still excited about his potential, but the past week it's been made clear he isnt ready for every day major league duties. I think there'd be no problem with keeping him in the big leagues...if we were the Royals or Indians. But this team is in a legit pennant race right now...developing young guys' ability to adapt to big league pitching has to be a secondary concern to winning games. We can't afford to waste outs right now on anyone except Kotsay.- And that is a White Sox Winner!!!
