  1. Juan, you seriously need to practice. When you pop a ball up with RISP, you don't drop the bat and drop your head, you slam the bat to the ground. Come on, you're in Chicago now, that's a requirement.
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 09:33 PM) Alexei really can't hit a slider. Neither can Viciedo. Is it a Cuban thing? I think Cuba's something of a fastball league. Which of course doesn't explain why Contreras always fell in love with that forkball.
  3. And Alexei makes me look bad by saying he'd be the last one with a hit!
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 09:27 PM) Michael Brantley is starting to annoy me. He's like a left handed Carlos Gomez. And Andruw made a pretty bad throw. I'm pretty sure Rios makes a better throw there. The only way that a better throw would have made a difference is if he'd been playing in right center instead of left center anyway. I think that even if it was a bad throw, the fact that he got it in the air so quickly actually kept Sizemore at 2b.
  5. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 05:01 PM) is teabagging an accepted term now? I sure hope not.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 03:40 PM) Here is the entire gallup poll on the subject http://www.gallup.com/poll/127181/Tea-Part...mographics.aspx You have to go to a different Gallup poll for the comparison. In the poll you cite, the "Favorability number" (last question) for the teabagging is 37%. In a Feb Gallup poll, the same question for Socialism produced a 36% favorability. Considering Socialists don't have an entire 24 hour news network telling the country how great they are...
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 03:45 PM) I think the fact that the Republicans have a shot at the independents of the country is huge as that ultimately is who you have to sway to win the elections anyway. Not based on the last 10 years. The last 10 years, it's all been about base turnout. Bush and The Republicans lost independents in 2004, and won because their base turned out.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 03:50 PM) It would be a hell of a lot nicer if a former player came back and didn't homer in his first at bat against us. I'd just take that. Yeah...sigh...
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) I think you are right in regards to the polls, but I had seen where Callup also did a similar poll and had very similar results to the Rasmussen one that I posted, hence why I posted it. I believe the same poll suggested that a similar number of people identified themselves as being Socialists as did Tea Partiers.
  10. Since I turned 25 I just can't take sugar-rich cereal in the morning like I used to. Raisin bran, Total, Special K Protein Plus is up there. If I want a snack later in the day and I have some lying around...Frosted Mini Wheats are like candy (eaten dry). And I can still then down a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
  11. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 12:41 PM) Is there a worse #5 hitter in baseball? David Ortiz.
  12. I haven't had a chance to watch his at bats yet...has he looked like he understands the existence of "breaking balls" this year yet?
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) I'm not saying AJ has a rocket for an arm, but many of the pitchers give him zero chance The G was sporting a new slide-step during ST.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 10:50 AM) My PC has done everything I've needed it to do and hasn't stopped me from doing anything I couldn't. There has never been a time where I looked at my computer and said, s***, if only I had a mac I could do this or if only I had a mac I wouldn't have this issue. Never has that ever happened to me. So since that is the case, I can't really justify paying double for a machine that for all intents and purposes to me, will do nothing better for me. And I'm not referring to an Ipad, I'm referring to a Mac compared with a PC. There are more than a few times where I've lost hours, or even days, sitting around screaming at a Microsoft product because I don't know what else to do to make it work. Yet, I'm still a Microsoft user.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 8, 2010 -> 10:33 AM) Yes, we would be a lot better off with Scutaro as our leadoff hitter than Juan Pierre. Only if last year's numbers weren't a fluke. He's been in the .330-.350 OBP range most of his career, just like Pierre. Doesn't mean Boston didn't have their reasons or that he's not a good player, but yeah.
