  1. Xylorimba music would be more pleasant than this.
  2. Very difficult this alphabet is for me today. Blah.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 06:31 PM) It was a week ago that Obama couldn't do anything to repair our image internationally when we lost the Olympics, now it has turned around soooo much. lol. I wish the media would pick a theme and stick to it. Maybe they should just stop listening to the right wing themes?
  4. The "Cruising to the easiest division title possible" hits another team.
  5. The Cardinals owe the guy in the audience who wears #56 an apology for today's performance.
  6. QUOTE (joeynach @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 05:05 PM) Nick Johnson would be a nice piece to add. He could play DH/1B/RF. Most likely he and konerko can split time at DH/1B and hes an OBP Machine. Nick Johnson should never, ever play the field if signed.
  7. really ought to get these knees looked at too. Dah well.
  8. Perhaps my health care plan will pay for rehabilitation? (Checks) Nope.

  10. Kindly allow me to start hitting baseballs at you?
  11. I gotta say, I never want to be hit in the arm by a hard hit baseball.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 12:39 PM) I expect a nice ass whippin' by Indiana next week. That should be the final nail in Zook's coffin. This has become a despicable program. They're going to have their work cut out for them if they want to lose to the IU team that got spanked today.
  13. QUOTE (beck72 @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 03:46 PM) Not without better defense and a more versatile offense. The sox don't have the guys--position players-- with the upside or the talent to hang with the best teams in baseball. Frankly, I simply don't buy that at all. The team's defense is already going to be upgraded a fair amount next year hopefully just from guys getting more experienced at their positions. Their offense was crap this year, but think of the AB's lost by Quentin, the AB's wasted on Wise, Fields, Anderson, the terrible years by JD, Rios, etc. The odds are that some of that isn't repeated. There's still a hole in the OF and at DH that needs filled, this team isn't going to be nearly as bad next year with the bats as this team was even if very little changes. The thing that we need is a bullpen to be able to hang through the 7th-8th-9th innings regularly.
  14. Hmmm...Hudson for Upton... I'm not sure what the Sox scouting reports say about him and his injury/slow development, but this is one that intrigues me.
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) Until the hitters stop hitting. That's when Willie Harris comes off the bench and steals 2nd, and we knock him in with an 8th inning ground ball.
  16. The Yankees, etc., may be stacked with talent, but you put us in a best of 5/best of 7 series against any team in the league, if our starting pitchers are healthy, we can hang with them.
  17. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) Youger players typically play way better defense. Part of me would LOVE Milton Bradley to play here. He would eat up playing for this side of town. But I don't know if his defense is what I want rotating out there. You should plan on Bradley getting only about 150 at bats next season if you're also counting on him to play the field. He's a DH, everyone knew it when the Cubs signed him. He'll get hurt playing the OF, he'll struggle at the plate, he'll give you 150 average to poor at bats, maybe 250-300 if you're really lucky, and then he'll explode at the fans or an ump or a manager or the press or the Nobel Peace Prize committee for no reason other than he's frustrated about how his season has gone and he doesn't know how to express it.
  18. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 09:54 PM) Hopefully there will be another He Hate Me somewhere in that league. As long as he also winds up on the Carolina Panthers, I'm game.
  19. Evil weather costs Pedro Martinez a start.
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 10, 2009 -> 11:24 AM) If you are placing more importance on exclusively next year why do you care if the players are young and cheap? Worked when we stole quentin.
  21. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 08:13 PM) Depends on the dollar amount, anything more than about 3 or 4 million on a short-term deal and I won't like it. I don't mind him being on the team at all though. When we offered Pods arbitration after 2006, he signed for $2.9 million, and people said it was some of the worst money we'd spent.
