    Slight deterioration in Colome and he’s a liability. He doesn’t have overwhelming stuff and there’s a fine line there. I’m not a fan of throwing a ton of $ at him.

    Exactly. No interest in giving up Kuechel and Grandal. And to be honest with our lineup and today’s financial situation in MLB, I’m not sure I’d want Harper. It’s a no all the way around.

    Organizational stubbornness and a desire to fail conventionally (with a vet like EE) as opposed to an untraditional player like Yermin. One can’t empirically prove that Yermin is a AAAA player. Perhaps we’ll never know.

    Here’s a random thought: let’s say the Reds are willing to trade Castellanos to get out of his salary. Do you trade a third tier prospect to take on his contract?

    We are not the kind of team that can consistently reload. If we can contend for multiple years due to good prospect depth we shouldn’t jeopardize that just to increase our odds slightly one year.

    That’s my issue too. We wouldn’t necessarily be buying Lynn’s previous production at this age. Furthermore, another year removed from surgery, it’s possible Dunning takes another step forward. In sports it’s never as simple as extrapolating past performance.

    Dunning is a quality 3/4 pitcher in this league for a long long time. There’s no need to dump him because we’re excited to make a trade for someone marginally (if at all) better than him today.

    I didn’t even notice who posted the tweets, only that they’re continually being posted. I don’t believe things are worthy of being posted here because they meet the following two criteria 1) posted on twitter 2) conjecture regarding the White Sox. Obviously SOME filter is reasonable!

    This is a dumb take. Sox aren’t giving up Thompson/Dalquist for Bryant. And if the Cubs decide to pay a significant amount they’d be better off keeping him and flipping him at the deadline. Makes no sense.

    If you Google you’ll see lots of articles about how he turned down an offer “well north of $200mil”. Tough to say how many years, but I’m guessing 7?
