QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 02:23 PM) I don't think he sticks at 3B and don't he has nearly enough upside to be the second piece in a Quintana deal. If I had to guess, Happ is off the table at the moment. Maybe we could get Jimenez, Candelario and two lower rated players. I assume the Sox would want two "headliners" but I'm not convinced the market for Quintana is 2 top 25-50 players. I'm guessing 1 top 25, 1-2 50-100 types, and a flier.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 01:26 PM) I love me some Eloy Jimenez, but I really don't like really like the Cubs' secondary pieces. Don't get me wrong, a Jimenez plus Schwarber or Happ deal would work for me obviously, but the Cubs aren't doing anything like that, at least not for Quintana. What's wrong with Candelario?

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 29, 2017 -> 09:37 PM) Would you give up Robles for one? I bet the teams with closers that would consider selling have crazy demands right now and I wouldn't be surprised if Robles is the guy they're asking for. Asks should become more realistic/fair as we get closer to the deadline and the number of sellers increases. Having said that, I do think it would benefit both sides to get a deal sooner rather than later. This relief market could go either way and the Nationals have the pieces and need to get something done early. If I was Hahn, I'd push hard on a Roberson trade now and then give Kahnle a 30 day audition in the closer role. Could be risky but it might be the one way to convince teams he's an elite reliever despite the limited sample size (assuming all goes well). I don't know but I know this: the more times the Nats pen implodes, the more his back is against the wall, the more the prices go up, the more scrutiny he comes under. He will trade if only to manage career risk!

Rizzo is one stubborn SOB refusing to trade for a closer. Crazy after watching meltdown after meltdown

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 05:30 PM) I'm not writing them off completely, but Glasnow, Meadows, Newman's stock are all undoubtedly down right now, somewhat big time. Between the injuries and performance I don't think the Sox could make Meadows the centerpiece of a trade even if he was available. Just my 2c

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 11:39 AM) Sun-Times Sports @suntimes_sports 38m38 minutes ago Make him an offer: #WhiteSox general manager Rick Hahn says "all of our guys" available in right deal http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/white-sox-gm-open-minded-on-all-our-guys-as-trade-season-nears/amp/ …://http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/...on-nears/amp/ …://http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/...on-nears/amp/ … Sigh. I don't like that response at all. I think it's one thing to entertain offers for some of the young guys behind closed doors, but why would you publicly say the players you just traded for (or drafted) are available for the right offer?

4-4 for YoMo - that has to boost his confidence!

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 01:00 PM) Albies is 20 years old playing in AAA and posting a .747 OPS. In my opinion he is very advanced for his age, and is performing quite well considering how young he is compared to most AAA players. I'm a big believer in Albies and feel he will turn out to be a very good player. I'm aware, maybe I'm unfairly scrutinizing his size (he looks about 5'8" 150 soaking wet).
-
I have seen Albies play a few times here in Durham, and I am not a fan at all of his bat. I really question what it would look like at the MLB level.

I think we match up the best with the Yankees and Cubs tbh. I would love a package centered around Rutherford.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 14, 2017 -> 08:46 AM) A lot of people have had to make it in life without the opportunity to be a professional baseball player. Looks like he will as well. Good. My thoughts are with his victim. May she be able to somehow have a normal rest of her life. +100. There are consequences for actions. Quite frankly he should be happy he's not in prison and can live a relatively "normal" life.

Have any teams drafted multiple players from the same team like the Sox this year? Saving on the travel scouting budget -

Montes De Oca picked by the Nats. Let us never hear his name again. -

So if we had to summarize the draft it would be "Power conference hitters with a good BB/K ratio"? -
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 13, 2017 -> 05:22 PM) Montes de Oca still there? Let the legend of Montes de Oca die in peace (please)

White Sox Pick Wake Forest 1B Gavin Sheets in Round 2
NCsoxfan replied to Y2Jimmy0's topic in FutureSox Board
The kid won't even have to move if he plays in Winston -
As much as I like guys like Beck and Adell, they could very easily bust. HS hitters like that bust all the time. While we felt like the draft fell off substantially, we really have no idea how it pans out. Im excited about Burger, the dude isn't the fanciest or fastest or flashiest, but his numbers speak for themself.

Man you guys are acting like Austin Beck was available and we passed on him for Burger. There was no easy answer at 11.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 03:58 PM) I think the sox get Haseley. We've been pretty successful recently with guys who kinda fell to us (Rodon, Fulmer to an extent and of course Chris f***ing Sale). I like how much he's improved his strikeout rate. From 19% to 12% to 9% between his freshman and junior seasons. Everything basically improved dramatically over his career.. Average, power, OBP, slugging %, SB's, fielding %, etc. Would love to have him. Good BA comparison between Kendall and Haseley from April: http://www.baseballamerica.com/college/str...CuX4WR72XlDk.97 Watching him hit, he reminds me of Mark Kotsay.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 02:19 PM) Yeah, move Heimlich stuff to the thread on the Future Sox board. Any steals Sox should look for later on? Yes, I said it earlier in the thread but Joe Dunand in the 3-6th area. Could see him turning into a 3B with plus glove, 20-25hr power, and .270ish hitter. BA has him at #190.
