QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) wasnt it a Zeppelin? As I recall, that's what it was. Looking back at the cast of the Rocketeer, it had more famous people than I would think. It seemed pretty cheaply made from how I remember it. How did you feel about Valkyrie?

227 aspirins?! I've never attempted suicide or looked up the specifics of it, but isn't that probably way overkill?

Fan dies after fall at Rangers game
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 11:35 AM) Yeah, that's ridiculous. Set up a fund for the family, and move on. It was his own fault he died in a freak accident. If he were a single, non-firefighter, there's no way they're doing this. It sounds incredibly insensitive, but that is 100% true.

Zambrano retires?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 03:18 PM) This deal makes a ton of sense knowing the personalities here if Ozzie is back next year. Zambrano to White Sox for Alex Rios and $20MM. The White Sox would reduce the years of their burden if not the money, while the Cubs could pray Rios bounces back next year or else cut him loose. If they bring back Ozzie and add Zambrano to the mix, I can't even imagine my reaction. I may kill a person.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 03:35 PM) The Sound of Music I don't think I've ever actually seen it, unless it was a long time ago. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) The Rocketeer! I definitely liked that movie as a kid. Haven't seen it in probably 15 years, though.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) classic film enthusiast as you are, I am fairly stunned you left of the Grand-daddy of them all: Casablanca. Like I said, that was just off of the top of my head Schindler's List X-Men: First Class Enemy At The Gates Defiance Apt Pupil American History X (sorta) There are just so many, and none that I can think of that I disliked.

What bugs/creatures/whatever freak you out?
I think there may be a cicada in the tree across the street from me. I can hear it pretty vividly through the windows/wall, so I kind of assume that it's not a grasshopper or something else that would make a similar noise. Thankfully it just seems to be the one.

3.5 Games Out
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 09:36 AM) It would be really nice to put the Indians down for good in 2011. It would also be nice to get over .500 finally. This season has been like Chinese water torture at times. Cleveland would be, what, 5 games out at most after this series? If the Sox have been "in it" up to this point, that won't put the Indians down.

They charge you through the nose for breast milk at the stadium. I'd bring my own.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 10:32 AM) How dare you leave Inglorious Basterds off the list? And agreed. Dead nazis are good for everyone. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) Inglorious Basterds LOL yes, another great one. That was just the first few movies from various genres that popped into my head. I'm sure there are dozens more that are great. Raiders Of The Lost Ark See?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 08:32 AM) That looks fantastic. I don't know exactly what it is, but I love any movie with an "historical" background having the Nazi's as the bad guys. It often gets old seeing the same antagonists in every movie, but they're just so perfect for it. I honestly can't think of a single bad movie with that basis. Saving Private Ryan The Longest Day Hellboy Captain America The Boys From Brazil Blues Brothers Just some examples from all different genres spanning decades, and I enjoyed them all.

What bugs/creatures/whatever freak you out?
QUOTE (The Baconator @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 08:40 PM) Three hours, eh? And I'm off... Haha, a bit of exaggeration, but I did it on my phone while I was cooking and other errands. So it took a bit longer.

This season is a statement on organizational resiliency
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 02:04 PM) Just wondering, do you think the Tigers deserve any credit for leading the Comedy Central? Any other division they would be a minimum 3.5 games back. Slightly more credit than us, obviously. But still not much. The winner of this division will just be the tallest midget that will subsequently be molested in the playoffs.

This season is a statement on organizational resiliency
QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) Organizational resiliency? Unwarranted resistance to change? It's a fine line. This. The one thing I wish people would stop doing is giving this team credit for still being in the race. It is not by their resiliency, or whatever you might want to call it, that they are still in contention. It is solely that this division is laughable. In any other division in baseball, we'd be ~10 games back or more. They're not showing heart by sticking around and "digging themselves out of the hole" that they themselves created. They're winning about as few games that a team this talented could possibly win. It is only due to the sheer hilarity of the Comedy Central that we're alive at this point.

Changes Looming If No Postseason
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 12:56 PM) I don't care if we make the playoffs or not, there has to be changes at the end of the year. Ozzie and KW can simply not co-exist long-term. There is just too much bad blood and philosophical differences between the two. At least one of them has to go. IMO, Ozzie has warn out his welcome here with his constant drama and has done a below average job managing the team the last few years. If he stays, he'd have an even stronger stranglehold on the organization and that's really scary. If do we get rid of KW, then the new GM should be able to pick his own guy. I'm actually starting to like the idea of Hahn as GM. He's incredibly intelligent and it seems like the game is starting to value that more than previous baseball experience. Guys like Friedman and Epstein are proof of that. He seems like a pretty popular name around the league and my guess is if we don't offer him the job, he'll be the next GM of the Cubs. I think you got to make a long-term decision on KW this offseason and if he's the not the guy, offer Hahn the job and maybe KW a John Paxson type position, although I'm not sure he'll go for that. Regardless, do not force a manger on our GM. If KW, Hahn or whomever wants Larussa, then so be it, but I don't want any more power struggles and lack of accountability. I've been saying that for a long time. I'm glad others feel the same way.

Changes Looming If No Postseason
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) Yeah, I am sure there is....not many concepts are going to prove effective if they are built on ineffective parts. Look, I get the fact that Dunn has been horrific. But two things: Dunn could still obviously come back and have three monster years for us, and in the end, be worthy of that contract; and secondly, sometimes s*** just happens. This is one of those times. I know what you mean, but I do not think he could actually perform that well over 3 years to negate what has been one of the worst seasons of individual play in the history of the game.

Tigers acquire Delmon Young from Twins
He'll have a good amount more protection in that lineup. I'd expect his numbers to get better.
