  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 23, 2010 -> 08:07 AM) WTF? That's actually the one time this season we actually responded by hitting one of their guys back. Well, I see his point. They hit our guy in the head, and we had our softest throwing pitcher respond and left it at that.
  2. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 11:09 PM) What?

    QUOTE (IceCreamPants @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 11:26 PM) I love and hate m. knightni shamalayn.... No reviews on DEVIL? No offense, but we're at the point where nobody is dumb enough to even bother giving his movies a shot.
  4. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 23, 2010 -> 06:44 AM) Watched The Event last night. I liked it. I knew there was going to a sci-fi aspect to it, so I wasn't surprised. I hope it makes it and is done better than Flash Forward. Can someone tell me in spoiler tags what happened? I'm not going to watch the show, but I always want to know the premise of shows.
  5. I have never had a problem with flying, and I can even sleep on a plane if I'm tired enough. The only thing is that I've never had a flight longer than 4 hours.
  6. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 03:58 PM) He'll get Pujols when he's 39 Ha, no doubt.
  7. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) I figured out they were in Ireland last week. I don't think it was a shock at all this week.
  8. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 02:49 PM) Philly: 1.54 million Chicago: 2.8 milllion Even if we are splitting a city it is about even. Factor in more corporate sponsor opportunities being in a large international and national market, the Sox are in just as good, if not a better position than the Phillies if they got their s*** together. We aren't. The Cubs are easily the majority in the city.
  9. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 02:45 PM) I'm a bit confused about the SOA episode last night.
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 01:08 PM) I like the cut of your jib. Is the poop deck really what I think it is?
  11. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) Please refrain from calling people idiots. Depending on how someone defines fluke, them yes, a once in 100 years could easily be called a fluke. This is very normal for him. In such a short time on the board, I don't think I've seen anyone use the terms dumb, stupid, and idiot anywhere near as much as him.

    QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 12:57 PM) Anybody ever see The Godfather Trilogy? I thought it was pretty good. Also there was The Godfather Saga...which put parts 1 & 2 in chronological order. I thought the Trilogy was better, but both were kinda cool and a must see for fans. If I understand correctly, they use the exact same footage from the original movies and just put them in chronological order? No new scenes or anything?
  13. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 01:34 PM) I got into SOA early last season and wow can I get lost some times. Never knew there was as deep an Irish connection there. The Cleaner was as creepy as they get. I don't think they really went into it before. As far as I remember, they have only mentioned that they have been in business with the Irish for a very long time.
  14. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 01:55 PM) Did you notice that his name was Bachman? Clever. I watched it with my cousin. Since I knew King was going to be on it, I turned to him as soon as they mentioned the cleaner's name and told him it would be Stephen King.
  15. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 10:47 AM) As long as KW stays aboard, I have faith. The guy hates to lose. I wonder what Kenny's thoughts were about the Delmon Young-AJ incident and the Pavano hitting Konerko in the face incident. I wonder how he feels about the team's lack of retaliation. (And no, I don't think soft tossing Buehrle's throw at the twins count). The team's lack of an adequate response really sickened me. Not only do you continue to lose to those f***ers, but you also let them punk you. Inexcusable. I hate this argument. Why does this count as a valid reason? EVERYONE HATES TO LOSE.
  16. QUOTE (Cali @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 11:56 PM) I look forward to some serious changes in the off-season, and if not, some serious thinking about if I want to waste my time and heart on this team in 2011... Agreed. And don't forget money.
  17. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 09:40 AM) hitting coaches matter. ask rudy jaramillo, oh wait. Congratulations! You're the 100th person to make that joke in one day!
  18. QUOTE (gatnom @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 10:53 PM) Basically reposting what I said in the Daniel Hudson thread a few days ago: unlike NorthSideSox, I really do not like how this team is positioned for 2011. By my conservative estimate (Kalapse or somebody else more familiar with contracts around the league could give a more accurate one), we have roughly $85 million invested in 14 players, and those 14 players do not include our first baseman (and best offensive player for that matter), catcher, designated hitter, closer, right handed set up man, any of the bench, or any of the remaining spots in the pen. Our payroll this year was $99.575 million, and it will likely continue to drop, as it has been, with our ticket sales being even lower than they were last year. This means that we will likely have to unload salary, and the best place to do that is the starting rotation since that is where we have the majority of it tied up. There are a couple problems with this. One, Buehrle and Peavy are pretty much untradeable. Two, if you trade one of Danks or Floyd in order to actually receive value in return, you now have to assume Peavy will not only be 100% healthy for the year but also not underperform like he did in 2010, and you also have to rely on a rookie pitcher without even a full season of professional baseball under his belt. You also have to hope that Edwin Jackson pitches closer to the 3.25 era that he has with the Sox than the 4.65 he has pitched over his career. And, if any of these conditions don't work out, we don't have any pitching prospects anywhere near the majors who can fill a spot in the rotation. KW is definitely going to have to get creative this year, should be an interesting offseason. It's looking very bleak indeed.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 09:57 AM) Gemma hinted at a possible retirement home in last night's episode. Old Hal might be good, but that storyline seems to have little left. Come on, we're both huge fans of the show. We both know that you never have any idea what is going to happen next.

    QUOTE (The Gooch @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 12:26 AM) Godfather 2 > Godfather Agreed. QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 10:59 PM) Why even compare them? Totally different kinds of movies. I didn't make the original comparison. But even though they are entirely different movies, one can obviously be better than the other. In this case, the better movie is The Godfather.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 09:46 AM) I f***ing hate Oliver Platt. Haha, a few posters and I had a discussion in the Films Thread a few weeks ago in which we said the exact opposite.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 09:40 AM) I just came here to post that, he was fantastic. Hopefully we can put the Gemma-daddy storyline behind us and get to Ireland for some ass-kicking. Why not both? Hal Holbrook is way too good of an actor to waste him on 3 episodes with a total screen time of about 15 minutes.

    QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) Inception is a movie you should've seen at the theater. It was friggin great. That may well be the case, but there is absolutely no way it was better than The Godfather.
  24. Mustache party coming up for me. I'm very excited.
  25. I've noticed that they are using a lot of the actors from Deadwood in Sons Of Anarchy. Dayton Callie, Titus Welliver , Robin Weigert, and Paula Malcomson have all appeared in both.
