  1. Forgot about the game, so I didn't even follow on gameday. Must have been a quick one. This is what we need to do from here on out. It's not an ideal situation, but we have to sweep the terrible teams and eke out wins against the good ones.
  2. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 11:20 AM) He had 5 hits. He happened to have a little hot streak while he was up here, he didn't earn anything, he's still bad. Even for as much as Flowers struggled in AAA this year he still out OPS'd Lucy by about 150 points. He seemed good at calling a game and on defense. We have plenty of room for a guy like that for the last month, I'd think.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 10:34 PM) Thank you!! If you want a good 1B that can't hit, you can get Kotchman for 1/10th of the contract Konerko will get. Or just keep Kotsay.
  4. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 11:35 PM) Look Greg, the Sox made a big investment in acquiring Manny in terms of money, they have him for only a month. 31 games to be exact from when he officially joined the organization. With the Sox being down 4 games to the Twins and with such a short amount of time left, it just seems logical to put out the best lineup possible. From what we have seen out of Kotsay this year, a tired Manny>>>>>>Kotsay. And really, he was just going to DH, and with already having alot of time off this year, Manny shouldve been ready to go. And for those who say "Manny doesnt take well to orders," well, hes with us for one month and he needs a new contract. Push him to play and he will, because he needs it. And if we burn a few bridges with him because of it, so what, we'll ride out the situation and say thanks ofr bein a big bat for us for a month and we can move on. Yes, we won the game, but that doesnt mean it was the SMARTEST decision. Did it pan out? Sure. That doesnt mean Ozzie put us at a disadvantage compared to the alternatives. It's like having the right answer to a math question but no work shown. You might have gotten lucky with the result, but you didn't prove that you know what you're talking about.
  5. You would think Lucy earned a call-up with his performance earlier in the year for the Sox. And hasn't Flowers been terrible?
  6. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 09:52 AM) The Reds could be a very good team for a long time. The cubs really need to hope no other team in that division steps up as they could lose a whole lot of games until the money opens up. Anyone but Yanks or Red Sox. Wow, as the playoff picture stands today, there are only two teams I'd actively root against. They are the Yankees and the Phillies.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 09:13 AM) The only thing I disliked about T2 was that Arnold's character was too cheesy with the one liners. I also wanted him to be more bad ass by killing anyone who wanted to harm John Conner instead of shooting their knees or using tear gas. I liked that the T1000 scenes were very dark. Unless you count the helicopter part, which was funny.
  8. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 08:58 PM) Yep, cause the only thing that matters in baseball is if you have good guys on your roster. I know I don't want actual good players, just good all around guys that'd I'd love to have a beer with. I love me some PK, but signing him longer than 2 years would be a bad bad move. Hell, I'd love to have a beer with Manny much more than Kotsay or Teahen.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) Not that he hasn't been great, because he has...but I highly doubt Arizona is upset about that trade. It's crazy how both guys in the trade are two of the best in baseball over the last month. It's like Volquez/Hamilton circa '08. Which one of Jackson/Hudson is the steroid user and which is the heroin addict?
  10. Thank you, Edwin Jackson. You too, AJ. Manny deserves a nod, also. These wins where we almost lose it in the 9th (plus all of the games we actually do blow in the final inning) are really taking a toll on me. I feel exasperated.
  11. It's never easy.
  12. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 08:32 PM) And if people are wondering why they kept in Lilli its because if they used Manny theyd basically have no one who could play 2b/SS/3b if something crazy happened. Or something pretty normal, like the bullpen blowing this lead.
  13. Thank God for that. We now have the lead, and I don't have to drive myself insane due to Manny not starting.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 06:44 PM) You're talking Manny Ramirez and calling someone else a drama queen? You're still trusting the word of a known POS. And even if you trust what he said, he said "it's on Manny to convince Ozzie to play him" or something to that extent. Perhaps he did attempt to convince Ozzie. I don't care whose choice it was to sit him. It's the wrong choice.
  15. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 05:42 PM) This isn't some Manny circus BS. Manny not in the lineup is OZZIE'S CALL. Not Manny's . Manny told him "Whatever you want me to do. I'll do. I'm ready to compete." Ozzie wants him to get "settled in with his teammates." Remember Rios sitting on the bench in Seattle his first game last year? Blame Ozzie. Don't run with some lack of motivation crap. Enough with the drama. Did he really say that? QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 06:09 PM) Yeah. Cowley the lead Drama Queen looking for a "scoop". Like he's breaking some story. Whatever. If you want informed, impartial reports watch the MLB Network. Not ONE mention as to Manny not playing as anything other than a baseball decision by the manager. The Chicago media just can't wait to create some crap to generate interest and call the gulliable fanbase into controversy. This is Ozzie imposing his authority. Nothing more nothing less. To the detriment of his team. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 06:01 PM) are we really freaking out over this bulls***? Jesus christ, calm the f*** down. this isn't "ohhhhh here we goooo, Manny's typical buls***t OMGGGG" he's not playing today. He will be playing tomorrow. Relax Be angry at the dodgers for not giving him us Saturday, not over something stupid like this. Is anyone blaming Manny besides Dick Allen?
  16. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 03:25 PM) I love how the guy hasn't played in 4 days, we're at theass end of a tight pennant race and he's sitting tonight out. How absolutely asinine. Couldn't agree more. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 04:18 PM) There is absolutely nothing abnormal about a new acquisition not in the lineup the day he arrives with his new team. But you guys and the media obviously wanna make this into something it's not, so knock yourself out. If the people that are paying the guy have no problem with it why the tantrums from the fanbase? What, are you f***in' joking? We don't have time to f*** around. Your best possible DH option is on the bench, and you are four games out with a month to go. We don't have time to play around. Get him in as many games as possible. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 05:26 PM) I would think if the guy was fully motivated and excited to be in playoff contentoin,c flying in fiirst class for 4.5 hours would not keep him out of the line up. This, Imo, isnt going to go well. Yes, you've made that abundantly clear.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 11:34 AM) He also writes dialogue that belongs in a soap opera and his villains in both Titanic and Avatar were lol bad. Was Billy Zane the bad guy in Titanic?
  18. Congratulations. What sort of last name is Soble? QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 11:33 AM) I didnt announce it, but my son Jakob Joseph McMahon was born 7/19, 8lbs 9oz, 21 inches long. Congrats to you also, Can of Corn! Always trying to steal the show. I think I can say that, as I'm pretty sure I already congratulated you on Facebook.

With all of these pro and con arguments going on, allow me to voice a third side. I don't give a s***. I understand the implications of all of the negative things that people do, but I don't care what happens after I'm gone. People are self-destructive (basically destructive of everything), and we're not going to change. Take that, ethics!
  20. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 09:19 AM) Accordign to Guillen he would not play today if he was on a red eye. A red eye leaves at midnight not 6AM There are thousands of people that got on a plane at 6AM that are expected to work during their flight and as soon as they land. How does Fuentes end up with the Twins in time to save a game almost immediately and the Sox may now play 5 games after being awarded Manny rights. Nothing with this team is ever easy.....I understand it is not their fault. It has been said thousands of times. This team has no sense of urgency.
  21. Well, this is probably going to go one of two ways: 1.) The people talking s*** about Manny around the league will be right and we'll see a shell of the player that was Manny Ramirez. or 2.) Manny will feed off of this barrage of trash talk, earn his money for next year, and tear the AL apart throughout September. I want the second option.
  22. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 11:50 PM) yes, I meant 3+ outs, thanks for the catch. He's always been terrible at those if memory serves me correctly, so the K in the 8th was awesome, but I had a feeling that 9th was coming. I had a feeling that 9th was coming because it was Bobby Jenks on the mound. Unfortunately, I likely would have had the same feeling if it were any other White Sox reliever.
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 08:01 AM) LOL, I understand it looked bad, but its funny to go back and read this thread with everyone writing off his season. Man, that sucks about the X-Ray tech. Not cool. Like I said, considering the reaction from the player/bench/announcers, it seemed very similar to the Peavy injury. I thought the same thing when I saw both injuries. "That guy's season is over." On the other hand, you have a guy like Threets. I didn't think anything of his injury, and he's out for the year.
