I want Ozzie and KW gone.
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 07:50 PM) This has been the most successful 5 years in franchise history. Really step back and think about that. Not to mention its pretty silly to get on Kenny Williams for not making moves, the guy pulls the trigger more than any other GM in the game. Well, I'd say that was probably the mid-to-late 1910's.

2010 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 06:52 PM) I really didn't like the Rice induction either. Rice and Dawson are the two guys in recent memory whose inductions bother me. And when I saw that Dawson had a chance, I thought "If Rice is in, I guess Dawson will get in, too." And the voters won't let Blyleven in.

QUOTE (3E8 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 07:26 PM) Trailer for 'Let Me In' just came out. Hopefully this remake comes close to being as brilliant as the Swedish original 'Let The Right One In' It looks exactly the same, but it likely won't be as good. Cool to see Richard Jenkins and Elias Koteas in it.

Inception Discussion Thread
QUOTE (3E8 @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 09:08 PM) Someone try this, I'm too scared to The number of misspellings in that article makes me think it is bulls***. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure I've experienced that "body asleep/mind awake" thing lots of times. For me, it usually happens after waking up, though. Once in a while, I'll wake up and feel like I can't move my body at all for a few seconds. And then, I'll pop right out of it all of a sudden. I also become aware that I'm dreaming a lot (maybe once a week or bi-weekly). I can never stay asleep when I become aware of the dream, though. I'll definitely be trying that spinning thing if I remember.

White Sox Trade Catch-All
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 02:14 PM) 2009 - Jake Peavy, Mark Kotsay (along with Tony Pena and Alex Rios before and after) 2008 - Ken Griffey Jr. 2007 - traded Iguchi and Mackowiak away 2006 - MacDougal, Alomar Jr, and Riske 2005 - Blum 2004 - Garcia, Contreras, Everett, and Alomar 2003 - Alomar, Everett, Schoenweis, and Sullivan 2002 - traded Durham, Lofton, Alomar Jr, and Howry 2001 - traded Baldwin (Barry/Berry fiasco) Williams has made some sort of trade before or during the deadline every single year he's been a GM. I'd bet on the Sox making some type of addition. That's a guy I completely forgot about.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Jul 25, 2010 -> 03:39 AM) I told you he was a troll. You don't necessarily have to intend on being a troll to be one. Sometimes these sort of things tend to have a way of happening, without knowledge of it. Whether it be, naivety, jejune, or whatever else you want to call it. Just because you don't know any better, doesn't make something right. What that is, is ignorance. Greg, your donation, while a very kind gesture, and i'm sure everyone appreciates it, should never have been brought up. You are better than no one. Donation or not. Same thing goes for everyone. Point is, no one wants a gift, and then have that gift held over them, like they owe that person who gave said gift, the world. You give someone something, that's that, done story, to be forgotten except by those who it affected. You are not a bigger fan, or man, because of your gesture. ''I'm not baiting anybody.'' Great one, greg. One of the biggest lies i have ever heard in my life. How about the 11,334 times you have baited someone? Yadda, yadda, ''just put me on ignore qwerty''! What is the point? Nearly every single post you make is so far out there, that people cannot help but respond, so it would be a lost cause. Generally greg, when someone is in the vast, and boy do i mean vast, minority, it means they are incorrect. As in not even close to the realm of being correct. This of course is not always the case. That is left to the absolute geniuses, those who are so ahead of their time, that others can't even comprehend what they mean. I'm gonna take a stab, and say that is not your particular case. I'm just sick of the level of discussion being brought down further, and further, with you being the ring leader of your circus of clowns. Am i right about everything i just said? Without a doubt. Does nearly every single daily poster/visitor think otherwise? Highly doubtful. Was it mean... but most importantly honest? You bet.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 10:24 PM) Jeremy Renner confirmed as Clint Barton/Hawkeye and Mark Ruffalo confirmed as Bruce Banner/Hulk at Comicon tonite in an Avengers sit-down. They both were announced as their characters along with Robert Downey Jr(Ironman), Chris Evans(Captain America), Scarlett Johannsen(Black Widow), Samuel L Jackson(Nick Fury) and Chris Hemsworth(Thor). I thought that the digital effect of making Jeff Bridges look 30 years younger was amazing in that trailer. I cannot wait to see it Can they get someone to play the Hulk and actually stick? Three movies and three different actors.

Didn't we win??
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 24, 2010 -> 11:00 AM) Mark looked brilliant but I was worried that Q's pathetic attempt at that double would have sparked the typical Buehrle meltdown in the coliseum. Fortunately he pitched over it. The Kotsay/AJ combo still angers me. Talk about DFA caliber offense from those guys. Sheesh. I'm pretty sure AJ makes the third out with a runner on base at least twice a game. It's usually on the first pitch, too. I was also scared after that Quentin play. And in his defense, it seemed like a tough play, but he also played it badly. He looks like a little leaguer out there sometimes.

Didn't we win??
I actually noticed there was no winner thread about 20 minutes after the game. I thought about starting one, but didn't want to jinx anything (yes, I'm that superstitious) since I hadn't made one the entire year. Good win almost all around.

July White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 23, 2010 -> 08:14 PM) The problem is that you are forcing it into the conversation now, which is total bulls***. Asking "chw are you trying to build a case where if and when we lose the division we can all simply say, "It's Bobby Jenks' fault!"" followed by "Not flaming. Just asking" followed by "Thats pretty f***ing stupid" is starting a argument where there was none. How about you quit feeling like you have to defend every iota of Bobby Jenks being and start discussing other topics without feeling like you need to ask if people are subtly taking shots at Bobby. Or even better, being able to admit when Bobby f***s up and saying "You know what? He sucked tonite" and leave it at that. There are overreactionary people that feel like a few bad outings dooms a player, and there are overreactionary people on the other end of the spectrum such as you that can never admit when a bad outing happens. Then there are the gray area people such as myself who can see the bigger picture and can understand that at some point either we have to s*** or get off the pot with jenks. The problem that I have with everything you have been saying is that everyone that doesnt worship the ground that Jenks walks on(such as yourself) is grouped into one big "insane messageboard people" list by you. If you havent noticed, Ozzie is starting to get a bit queasy with his closer as well and the message is out there that if he cannot get it done, there are two other big arms in the bullpen that can. I you.

I'm not sure if anyone has heard of Chicago Overcoat, but I watched that tonight. It's actually still in limited release, I believe, but I have a bootleg copy. It stars Frank Vincent and has appearances by Stacy Keach, Armand Assante, and Mike Starr. It definitely wasn't a great movie, but I enjoyed it enough. There were a lot of Chicago locations.

Putz for Closer
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 12:19 PM) We can have the Jenks arguments based on his performances, stats, and the like. The fat comments are just lazy. People can do better than that, at least I hope they can. It sure doesn't do anything to convince me personally that someone's argument is worth something if it leans on the physical stature of someone. Let all of the fat ass comments go, as it makes all of the intelligent arguments look bad here. Bobby Jenks isn't just fat or chubby. He's obese, and nobody will ever convince me that it isn't detrimental to his pitching performances.

Putz for Closer
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 07:34 AM) DFA is an overreaction IMO. That it's time for a new closer in 2011 is kind of a foregone conclusion to me though. It was a jab at an earlier post.

Please DH Quentin
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 22, 2010 -> 06:26 AM) Ozzie said Teahen is going to get some DH time when he comes back. Anyone still think the Sox really don't need a DH? Or a new manager?
-
Putz for Closer
I think it's funny to note that Sox pitching held the Mariners scoreless for 27 straight innings. Bobby Jenks enters the game, and they promptly score (twice) to win a game against us as if they were the Twins from 2001-2004. Oh, and DFA his fat f***ing ass.
