QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 15, 2010 -> 11:35 AM) He was up for the award, but R. Rondo won. They showed footage of the perfect game as well. What was his play? I can hardly even imagine a basketball play being above Buehrle's.

Saw The Ice Harvest last night. I really liked it. Not sure why, but I like Oliver Platt. Combining him with Billy Bob Thornton, Mike Starr, and Randy Quiad really covered up my dislike for John Cusack.

QUOTE (AJUribe @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) men who stare at goats sucked, i had high expectations after seeing burn after reading (one of the best ive seen in the passed few years) just rented the good sheperd looks pretty cool. That's the exact opposite of what I thought. I liked The Men Who Stare at Goats, while I thought Burn After Reading was pretty blah and certainly wasn't funny.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jul 14, 2010 -> 04:58 PM) The former. Not but in all seriousness, that was my first cornhole experience at a tailgate and I absolutely sucked at it. He was actually pretty decent IIRC. So, you're saying that he's very good at cornholing? And since you were so bad, would you say that he really gave it to you?

It sucked to see Thornton cough up the lead, but I'm sort of glad that he didn't allow the hit to Byrd.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) It has been said pretty clearly that the Ritchie thing was done pretty much by Schuler. It's been said thousands on times on this site alone. I think it's pretty fair to say that it will never actually sink in.

QUOTE (asmithxc @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 06:41 PM) Like you said, he didn't really give anything up for any of those guys. The worst trade was probably the Todd Ritchie one since Ritchie was incredibly bad and Josh Fogg and Kip Wells were at least serviceable (Wells had a couple of nice years at least). Whether through luck, skill, or some combination, Kenny has generally done a tremendous job of not giving up players that developed into guys we wish we hadn't given up. And Fogg was the giant killer for the Rockies during that ridiculous stretch they had in 2007. If I recall correctly, he was constantly being matched up with a bunch of aces and continually came out on top.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) Rock, You are really on fire right now. And I agree that needles are what turns people off on Heroin. It's HEROIN! That's what turns me off.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 09:02 PM) Qwerty, I just watched A Man for All Seasons. It was great, and I really like Robert Shaw as Henry VIII. And I just watched Becket. It's amazing how many times Peter O'Toole has been nominated, and lost, at the Academy Awards. The job he did in this movie was one of the best I've ever seen. I liked Becket more than A Man for All Seasons.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 05:33 PM) well, mushrooms grown in s*** doesnt stop me, so probably that wouldnt bother me either. That's sort of what I'm saying. If someone is willing to do heroin, they probably don't care where it comes from.

QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jul 13, 2010 -> 12:58 PM) A must-see (dunno if it was mentioned) is Drugs, Inc on National Geographic. The Heroin one that debuted last night was ridiculous, about half of it was dedicated to Heroin in Chicago. The Cocaine episode showed quite a bit of Chicago as well, good stuff. I don't think anyone would want to try Heroin after they see how it is made in Afghanistan Something about this makes me smile.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) the entire movie had what seemed to be a light snow falling everywhere, which added a very cool element to the picture. I thought that the 3D was used very often, it was just subtle Like those fuzzy things in Avatar?

Hawk and Stoney worst broadcast booth in baseball (according to GQ)
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 01:53 PM) I'd still like to see a Stone Pony/DJ pairing some day. Agreed. Did they rank Morgan and Miller? Is there a worse place than last?

Hawk and Stoney worst broadcast booth in baseball (according to GQ)
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 10:52 AM) Hawk alone makes it unbearable for non-White Sox fans. The second post in this thread completely nails it. Hawk isn't a very good announcer (he even bothers many Sox fans) and he's unabashedly biased. I would hate him more than I do now if it weren't for the fact that we share the same bias.

YOUR FIRST PLACE CHICAGO WHITE SOX!!!
QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 09:52 AM) Some of you have been around longer than I, but I can't ever recall a Sox season where they turned it around so quickly--and to do it, get into first, on the eve of the ASB is just poetic. Just last month I was complaining here that we never seem to ever put any STREAKS together, the past few years. Done, and done. If we can get through the Twins/California road trip with a winning record, I think people should be scared of us. I totally agree with that.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 12, 2010 -> 12:39 PM) Generally agree with that, posted similar thoughts back when it came out. We saw it in IMAX 3D, so visually it was a top-notch movie. Mediocre otherwise, but not bad. I never saw it, but the people I know who did have said that it was almost pointless to be in 3D. They said there were very few scenes that utilized it.

YOUR FIRST PLACE CHICAGO WHITE SOX!!!
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 08:20 PM) Couldn't be more proud of a team at the ASB. At the very least the guys have made this season an interesting one. Hats off to the pitchers and TCQ rebeasting himself. Exactly how I've been looking at it for about the last two weeks.

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 09:36 PM) I give up. Dog Poop? Boulders? Quicksand? Land Mines?

Teahen
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 09:30 PM) What ? No one thinks Teahen will be the left handed bat we need ? The way the team is playing now and with Teahen's eventual return KW should look to include him in a deal. But if not, with Lillibridge being 5-5 as a pinch hitter that really does reduce Kotsay's role a lot more. The problem is everyone's playing well right now, Kotsay included, and it's a beautiful problem . Or as Doug Heffernan would say, a classy problem.

Teahen
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) lol Mark Kotsay can play the OF which Mark Teahen cannot, regardless of what you may have read. He's also a vet who can keep his swing coming off the bench after not playing. The Kotsay talk is just dumb as hell. He'll be a very nice bench player for us as soon as we get a capable starter to push Kotsay back into what should have been his role all along. Teahen OTOH needs to stay the f*** off this bullclub. Teahen and Linebrink need to go in a 2-for-1 s*** contract swap so we can open a roster spot, and ideally we'd save some cash in the process. If we can't do that then it's time to take him out back and put him down Old Yeller style. I can hardly see any team taking either one of those players. It would take a miracle for one team to take both.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 11, 2010 -> 08:11 PM) By too much, I mean continuous inhalation, because it stays in your lungs for long periods of time and can reduce your oxygen levels. I'm pretty sure too much helium would kill you, too. But yeah, I'd definitely be careful with it. And if I were to ever get my hands on it, I probably wouldn't have enough to kill anyone because it's so expensive.
