  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 13, 2009 -> 09:44 AM) Is that the one where Tom Hanks tries to save Sarah Marshall deep behind enemy lines in WWII? No no, it's the one where Steve Zaun and Jack Black save their friend, Amanda Peet, from her boyfriend that runs her life (played by the guy from American Pie).
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 13, 2009 -> 08:55 AM) So the wife and I have recently become addicted to Redbox, and have seen a whole slew of DVDs over the past couple weeks... Here are some quick thoughts. Saving Sarah Marshall was a must see. This was second to 40 year old virgin in that group of movies (superbad, knocked up, etc). Just hilarious. We actually watched it again, and it was even funnier the second time around. Rightous Kill was great as well. To be honest we rented it because Pacino and De Niro were in it, but wow. I won't spoil anything, but it got me. Hancock was god awful. I kept waiting for something to grab my attention, but it never did. When was the last good Will Smith movie? Legend was a bomb as well. Wall-E was a good movie. I don't know about all of the hype it got as one of the greats, but I did enjoy it. Eagle Eye I commented on above. I just couldn't get into the movie the whole time I was watching it. It didn't have one shred of believability, and I kept thinking that I had seen it before. Then I thought of War Games, and it was over. Get Smart I enjoyed. They really didn't give Steve Carrell as much of the Maxwell Smart lines and tics as I thought they would, but it wasn't bad. I completely disagree. That movie was terrible and predictable.
  3. QUOTE (TheBlackSox8 @ Jan 11, 2009 -> 11:15 PM) which did out of nominees? just curious what you think, I thought it would be either slumdog, revolutionary road, or benjamin button. I still haven't seen Frost/Nixon, and I won't be seeing The Reader or Revolutionary Road. So, I'm not sure about those three. The movie just didn't give me a "Best Picture" vibe. I mean, it was good, but not great.
  4. I watched 1408 last night. It was so bland that I can hardly remember watching it. I saw Slumdog Millionaire earlier today. It was a very good movie, but I'm not sure it deserved to win Best Picture, which it did just now on the Golden Globes.
  5. Mickey Rourke wins the Golden Globe!
  6. Sort of true. I'm paying attention to the awards that I care about. The person below me sucks, but won't admit it.
  7. QUOTE (The Bones @ Jan 11, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) Movies I've seen recently... Ghost Town 5/10 In Bruges 6/10 The Visitor 7/10 The Curious Case of Benjamin Button 6/10 I still need to see a few more movies from 2008 before giving a top 10 list or anything but I think this has been a down year for movies. I could name about 5 movies from 2007 that I liked more than any 1 film from 2008. I completely disagree.
  8. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jan 11, 2009 -> 11:40 AM) Are you gonna avoid commenting on Cruise? Well, he sure wasn't bad in it. I guess he just didn't live up to his usual standards, as he's one of the best actors around.
  9. QUOTE (TheBlackSox8 @ Jan 11, 2009 -> 02:11 AM) It's all opinion anyway... I really wanted to like it a lot, but couldn't. Clint Eastwood's performance was entertaining, and there were some great lines of dialogue from his character. I give it a 6.5/10 For entertaining me, I'd give it an 8. Eastwood has that "cowboy" role nailed down. The lone stranger thing just suits him.
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 11, 2009 -> 01:55 AM) http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=logo#...&topic=7522 Will you be my friend?
  11. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 11, 2009 -> 01:50 AM) No, I was just doing role reversal. A true lost art. So, lost, I probably shouldn't have found it. God I hate you.
  12. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 11, 2009 -> 01:49 AM) Find me on the Soxtalk facebook page and ask me. I don't know everyone's real name... And I don't know yours, ha.
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 11, 2009 -> 01:48 AM) I know you won't let us down. I don't know if I get it. Do you mean that I'll keep you busy with deletions and such?
  14. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 10, 2009 -> 08:53 PM) I just hung out at the Soxtalk Facebook group and harassed everyone into being my friend. You didn't ask me, ya douchebag.
  15. All quality guys. Congratulations.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 10, 2009 -> 08:29 PM) The biggest play of the game (the 3rd and long pass to Heap on the last drive) should have been a delay of game, and the fact a missed call was such a key factor in a playoff game is a shame. I'm still also curious as to if Flacco stayed in bounds when he rolled out at the very back of the end zone on a 3rd and long pass play before Baltimore punted in the 4th quarter. However, at the end of the day, Tennessee had 3 giveaways (one at the Baltimore 32, another at the Baltimore 17, and a third at the Baltimore 6) zero takeaways, and 12 penalties. You have nobody to blame but yourself when you put up those numbers and lose a playoff game. Those are the two biggest things that crossed my mind during that game.
  17. QUOTE (TheBlackSox8 @ Jan 4, 2009 -> 12:41 AM) best actor....definitely no. I only thought the movie was decent because of his performance....without him I thought it was s***. After seeing it, I completely agree with this. Not that I didn't believe you in the first place.
  18. Since Soxtalk went down, I think I've seen two movies. Valkyrie was pretty good, and it had a really great cast. I really like Eddie Izzard in serious roles (I enjoyed The Riches). Bill Nighy was damn good, and that bald actor impressed me, too. Tom Wilkinson did a very good job, as usual. I really want to see that man win an Oscar some day. Gran Torino was entertaining as hell. Clint Eastwood was great in it, and it had some awesome lines.
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) Pettitte turned down a 1 yr 10mil deal with NYY. I'm sure it's because he knows he can get much more out of them. If I were him, and I just saw them hand out the contracts to Burnett, Sabathia, and Teixeira, I'd hold out for some more, too.
  20. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 11:48 AM) Giambi back to Oakland for 5M He's free to roid back up now. Expect a big year.
  21. The more I think about the WBC, the less I care for it. I wouldn't go, and I don't want any important players to go (no matter the country they represent).
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 09:42 AM) What he means to say is the most important thing is to get back the $1.25 million he's losing to suspension. I don't see why he would go to a second nutritionist instead of calling the hotline. You call the hotline, MLB has the recording that says you could take it, you're safe. What I believe happened here is his trainer said "you probably shouldn't take it" (as stated above), and then he took it. This mysterious second opinion probably didn't happen, because it's much easier to dial a phone number. I do think that based on the fact that in Spring Training the MLB outwardly cleared anything sold at GNC that the suspension should not happen and an apology should be made, however. I think that alone makes this a moot argument. As well he should. He's getting f***ed royally here.
  23. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 01:38 PM) I dont think it would be all that difficult to write them in and out of the stories. The writers basically have to do it anyways with all of the injuries these guys sustain on a regular basis. Maybe a break for them would help them avoid some of the injuries caused by nagging pains that are often ignored. I guess there would also be the potential problem of paying them during their vacations. I'm sure most wrestlers would want to get paid as much as possible, and who knows if Vince would be willing to pay them during that time.
