Feds Get Bonds' Steroid-Laced Urine

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 09:08 PM) I think Bonds was smart enough that when the Drs said: "Dont ask" he didnt ask. Plausible Deniability. Remember Anderson and Bonds were really good friends, to the extent that Anderson has said he would never testify against Bonds. Bonds was their meal ticket, they had an incentive to protect him at all costs and that includes being smart enough to know that as Drs if they cover for Barry, hed always have an excuse. The question for perjury is did he actually know, not did he have an idea, not did he think maybe, its did he actually know. If he did not know for sure, he can not be convicted. This is just breaking the law 101, whoever is the most important part of the group, you protect at the cost of the rest of the group. (Edit) More specifically think of it this way. I develop an undetectable steroid for Barry. I at the same time start Barry on a new training regiment. Barry can swear on his life that he believed it was the new training regiment that made him stronger and develop more mass. I as the Dr tell him its the training regiment, that the flaxseed oil is doing nothing. He relied on my statements as the Dr. I insulate Bonds, because Bonds has the money. I know as long as I protect him Im set. Its just so simple to make it impossible to prove this type of stuff. You're not telling anybody anything new. We understand the concept. You're looking at this only in a legal matter. Yes, they probably won't be able to convict Bonds. What most people are saying is that we don't need a conviction, as it is abundantly clear to anyone with a brain that he took steroids, and did so knowingly. The HOF voters don't need a conviction. They are smart enough, as is the rest of the nation, to know he cheated without having him thrown in jail. -
QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 08:44 PM) Only good part was the ending, IMO. It was a very good premise. And yes, the ending was good. It was very much the opposite of what you'd expect out of Hollywood. I guess Stephen King wrote the ending differently, but really liked the director's idea for the end.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 05:56 PM) It's total horses*** that Pete Rose isn't in the Hall. Just wanted to take another opportunity to say that. And Shoeless Joe. He was banned for life, and he's been dead for decades. Put the guy in already. -
I'm going to miss Uribe, and I'm thankful for his time here and the part he played in bringing us a championship. But, it is just time to move on.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 04:18 PM) thank you that's your opinion, and you can't prove it, so why make the statement? And cheating, no matter if it helped him to reach the goal or not, is cheating. So, why make your statement? He cheated any way you cut it. -
QUOTE (Texsox @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 01:04 PM) It is so close. They bring a couple staff members and they sit in the McDonalds drinking coffee and meanwhile their "patients" and "residents" and tearing open packages, and starting conversations with everyone. Today one of their kids grabbed my cart to return it to the front where the 85 year old, I should have saved for retirement, greeter would say "nice job!". And it is Winter Texas time so the damn trailer parks are full and they all come to "WalMart's" with their name tags and helpful suggestions that start "up north we . . ." You talk as if any elderly person who does this didn't attempt to save money. I don't think it's that cut and dry.

QUOTE (MO2005 @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 11:54 AM) And seriously how many players in this league are hot all season long besides maybe Albert Pujols? Every player has hot and cold months, but it's what makes the defense and team better. Crede's presence alone was enough even when he was slumping a bit because his defense was always stellar...Let's compare the 2...who would you rather have.. A guy who strikes out less than 100 times a year or more than 150 in a full season? A guy who has been an all star or not? A guy who's defense is predictable or unpredictable? A guy who when we need a clutch hit will deliver or not? I mean Crede over Fields for me anyday even with the back problem.. We got Betemit and Viciedo waiting in the wings..I would sign Crede to a one year deal because the guy is proven. Also what would happen to Joe Joe the late inning hero? You're completely skipping over the fact that Crede has not been healthy, and has been bad recently. And then you mention that Crede has been an all star, but Fields has been in the league for less than two years. Let's give him a chance to see if he is also an all star, and if his defense will become "predictable" and his offense "clutch."

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 11:22 AM) Please bring back Joe Crede. I would think the price would be right and Joe >than Josh. I know it isn't going to happen, but I am afraid we will see some loses in 2009 because of inferior defense at 3B. I don't put much faith in these off season stories centered around how much better someone is looking. They all look and perform better during winter reconditioning. There's a reason Joe Crede isn't on a major league club today. HE'S DONE AND NOBODY WANTS HIM! Get over your ridiculous man crush on him. It's over. Joe Crede is over.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 09:28 PM) Agree. I like em as well and hope they do not split them up anytime soon. Now that I've spoken up and said I liked a tag team, they'll naturally break them up soon. That happens to me a lot. -
I remember watching that World Series vividly. I was extremely into it, and definitely rooting for Arizona. The series as a whole was incredible, with momentum swinging back and forth constantly. The Yankees winning in New York was very cool, especially since the series ended up going in favor of the Diamondbacks. That last game...whew!

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 09:18 PM) I have come to really enjoy Miz and Morrison. They sell better than almost any other guys in the business. I like them a lot. -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 02:28 PM) The health club post: - Guys who do everything naked in the locker room (shave, blow dry hair, etc). - The creepy guys who seem to be in the locker room (sometimes naked) for hours. They'll be hanging around when you get there and still be putzing around in the locker room after you work out and shower. - People who don't bring a towel to wipe equipment after they use it. - People who just sit on one machine and take 5 minutes in between sets. - Women who look like they're dressed up to go to a night club with their hair all done up and tons of makeup. - People who are only there to get phone numbers/hook up. - The New Year's resolution crowd that overcrowd the gym for the first 3 weeks of every single year. Does that count for people wearing sweatpants?

That was a pretty good Royal Rumble, in the sense that it was old fashioned. There were about 15 guys in the ring at once, which is how it should be. My only problem with Royal Rumbles is that there is never a surprise winner, not even somewhat surprising. Each time the event comes around, there is a choice between 3 or 4 guys that you know will have to win. WSB, Undertaker was in the event tonight. I'm not sure he was even gone recently. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 25, 2009 -> 06:10 PM) I am the most hungover of all. I think it's actually kind of annoying when people talk about being hungover, but it makes the person feel so much better and the hangover less intense. Anyways, 2 beers and 2 Jag bombs before going downtown, 3 beers to go along with 3 pitchers between 3 guys, a little less than half a liter of Jag, and mass vomiting later in the night. Ouch. Which downtown are you speaking of?

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 12:37 PM) ....you, sir, must have somehow missed the Gin Blossoms Revolt of 1994....it was NOT pretty.....no one was spared, and women and small children looked on in abject terror....all who admitted or were found out to enjoy the Gin Blossoms' music were herded into a large stadium.....they were tortured in unmentionable fashion (and also in a few mentionable fashions, which will go unmentioned here, ironically).....the lifeless bodies of the Blossomites were then made into a mealy paste and fed to the few surviving Blossomers, while Found Out About You played on a loop.....if the human gruel didn't kill them, the forlorn melody did.....this dark moment in American history has been stricken from history books and news archives, and rightly so.....remembrance of this horrible display could only lead to repetition, and the torture of Hinder fans, 3 Doors Down aficianados, and followers of The Wallflowers would surely follow. ....I pray to a merciful God daily that I didn't remember....dammit, I wish I could forget..... This is the funniest thing I've read on here in months.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 06:25 PM) You didn't like Changeling? Holy crap, how did that happen? Such an excellent excellent film. I really haven't heard of anyone liking that movie, except maybe critics.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 22, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) i agree that he is not a HOF. He did have the one MVP so he gets consideration. Alot of the argurment for him is that he has great HR production for a 2B or was one of the best 2B of his time. The HOF is for the absolute best players, not for the top 10 2B or best 3B. People should not look at his performance compared to other 2B but to the performance of the absolute best players. Performance includes defense as well as offense. Just like with the stats of today, I think there is far too much emphasis on offense and too much comparing by position. The HOF is for the absolute best players not the best of each position. the only question that needs to asked is "is he one of the best PLAYERS of all time not is he one of the best 2B of all time." I will get down from my soapbox now and let the next person take a shot. No it's not. Look at the Hall Of Fame. There's plenty of mediocrity in there. Jeff Kent is a Hall Of Famer.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 22, 2009 -> 08:16 PM) Come on as soon as I saw a preview for Benjamin Button I knew it would be a best picture nominee. Those types of epic, many scenes thru-time pieces always do well in the academy. The reader was awful, though. The Reader or Slumdog Millionaire will take home the award. I've heard The Reader is bad, but it's about the Holocaust, to my knowledge. That alone will buy it a very good chance at the Oscar.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 22, 2009 -> 10:04 PM) If all I say is "hey" or "hi" then an almost imperceptible "hi" or even just a nod will do, but when someone completely ignores me and stares straight ahead I want to slap them. Agreed. I also don't like Led Zeppelin.

QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Jan 19, 2009 -> 11:14 AM) A team that used to play at Comiskey is in the Super Bowl, how can you NOT root for them!? Oh wait, Kurt Warner's their QB. Seriously, why would anyone dislike Kurt Warner? -
I'm the exact opposite. If I stop using something, I throw it away or give it away.
