  1. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Feb 1, 2009 -> 10:39 PM) What do you want them to review? His arm was hit and the ball was jarred loose...all while the ball was behind his head. That ball was steady in his hand enough on the follow through for it to be an incomplete pass. Either way, the simple fact that it wasn't even reviewed, added with the rest of the awful officiating, is outrageous.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 1, 2009 -> 10:33 PM) Nope. His WRs keep getting the MVPs. Is that a real argument or are you joking?
  3. Does this second Superbowl in his first five seasons put Roethlisberger into the HOF already?
  4. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Feb 1, 2009 -> 10:10 PM) Very happy the Cardinals came back. They indeed showed they could hang and they most definitely showed that they belonged. Why was there no review on that last play by Warner though? The refs had money on Pittsburgh.
  5. What a terrible ending to the biggest football game of the year. At least it ended the way the entire game went, with the Cardinals getting f***ed in the ass by the officiating crew.
  6. QUOTE (zenryan @ Feb 1, 2009 -> 05:07 PM) I'd say the majority of the casual UFC fans would rather watch the fighters just stay on their feet. Nothing annoys me more than hearing people groan as soon as the fight hits the mat. I also like submissions. I hate when a fight goes to the judges, in MMA and boxing.
  7. QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 1, 2009 -> 12:35 PM) What does "andate" mean? I know what the rest means. I think he told him to walk through s***. Andar is to walk, and the "te" at the end makes it reflexive.
  8. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 1, 2009 -> 01:06 PM) I was really hoping we’d stop hearing about Phelps soon. No such luck. We'll stop hearing about him very soon. This is extremely minor news, and we won't hear anything about him again until the next Olympics. I mean, who gives a s*** what he's doing? I don't even give a s*** about him during the Olympics. It's f***ing swimming.
  9. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Feb 1, 2009 -> 12:08 PM) I'm sure glad I didn't put any money on this card, otherwise I would of been drinking myself silly. GSP put on probably the most dominant performance I can remember. #1 P4P? Yep, book it. Time for BJ to go back to 155 and clean house, time for GSP to do the same at 170. I'm gonna shut up about Machida being boring now. With that being said I still think Rampage is the #1 contender, but if he gets caught by Jardine then by all means it's Machida's shot. Jon Jones could be something to watch. Card overall was decent. Now if you'll excuse me i'm gonna go back to bed to avoid anyone else yelling GSP! at me. I'm sure glad I didn't buy that PPV, and instead watched it online. Penn looked pathetic, and the first three matches were boring as hell. I'm guessing Machida is Japanese, although he was apparently born and raised in Brazil. Can anyone confirm this? By his looks, he seems asian, but that doesn't necessarily mean he is. I'm basing this on his name, his father's name, and the fact that he's trained in Karate and Sumo.
  10. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 31, 2009 -> 04:05 AM) I'll take a healthy Joe Crede over Juanito any day, on offense and defense. You best learn how to time travel, then.
  11. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 05:20 PM) Juan Uribe had a better White Sox career than Joe Crede. It's true, but most will never admit it because Crede had about 3/4 of a great year, from right before the World Series through about the halfway point of the following season.
  12. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 02:54 PM) I think Samardzija being on the list is more ridiculous then any Sox omission from the list. That's the reason the Cubs are always talked about trading s***ty prospects for great players. The media blows their prospects, even though they're garbage, and they get more in return.
  13. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 11:26 PM) You are missing the most important part: So no i dont think it was 1 man taking an unfair advantage, I think it was an entire system created to make money off them taking drugs. I think honor and fairness are relative terms. I think doctoring a baseball is worse than taking steroids, other people do not. How do you rectify what is "worse" is just opinion? I have never said cheating is fine, I just said it is up to the sport itself to catch and stop the cheater. Not to implicitly allow it and cover it up. Ive never said taking an unfair advantage to the field is right, Ive asked why is it right to ban some people for cheating but not others. If we are going to ban 1, we should ban all. And if we are going to accept 1, we should accept all. How is that not fair? It seems like you're saying that two wrongs make a right. Baseball didn't punish the guys while they were cheating, and due to this, they should allow them into the HOF. Mistakes were made and players weren't punished in the past. It's not too late to rectify that situation, and punish them by denying them entry to the HOF.
  14. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 10:49 PM) I agree. Bonds stuck to the script that BALCO told Marion Jones and Tim Montgomery. Tell anyone who asks it's flaxseed oil and arthritis medication. The others finally admitted this and Bonds may eventually. If people really want to stick their heads in the sand and believe it thats fine. He may not ever be convicted. That's fine too. But anyone who saw Bonds before and after he began taking them knows what he was doing and so did he. He knowingly cheated the game and he will not be in the HOF. By the way it's not just him. McGwire, Sosa and others should fall in the same category. They made thier millions because of it. Good for them. But don't let them recieve the highest honor of baseball, which does have a morality clause to get in. And that's what will keep him out, Soxbadger. You can argue all you want that he's eligible, and he is, but this is the little loophole that will keep him out. Being a lawyer, I'd think you'd enjoy a little loophole like that.
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 09:58 PM) I guess we just have a fundamental difference in how the HOF should be administered. I think that players should be judged based purely on how they played the game, that everything outside of the game is completely irrelevant. That if you are going to bar players who cheat during a game, that the penalty has to be consistent and fair. That it can not be arbitrary, that the rules must be in place so that they can be followed, so that the consequences are known. I dont think Ive ever disagreed that Bonds cheated, I just think that he belongs in the HOF regardless. That if Bonds is kept out, the HOF begins to become a joke. You will have the all time home run leader and the all time hits leader both not in the Hall of Fame. At least in the case of Rose he was permanently banned from Baseball, Bonds could return tomorrow as a coach or player if he was hired. Bonds and Rose should start their own Hall of Fame and just put people in strictly on the merits of their playing career. Let the rest of the world deal with gossip, and let them (Bonds and Rose) judge you by how you played. We will never know who else took steroids and will go to the hall that we just didnt catch, so why make it a charade? Is Clemens in the HOF? Ptatc, In my opinion you have not broken the law until you are convicted. The Federal Govt will never bring a case against Barry Bonds for illegally using substances, so I will consider him innocent until proven guilty in the eyes of the law. Sweet! As long as I murder someone and don't get caught, I didn't break the law.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 09:26 PM) http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/18/usc_...21----000-.html Key part: "WHICH HE DOES NOT BELIEVE TO BE TRUE" So as long as Bonds believed it to be true, he has to be not guilty of perjury. So if I really thought that crack was aspirin, it is not perjury when I say "I thought it was aspirin" even if every other person in the world would have known the difference. The only person that matters is Bonds. How do you prove what Bonds knew or didnt know? Unless you can bring in a witness to testify that Bonds knew, the case is dead in the water. Ptatc, What law do you believe Bonds broke? And do you think that all players who break the law should be prevented from being HOF? (DUI, fake id, marijuana included) He took illegal steroids. And before you say, "you can't prove that he took them willfully," it doesn't matter in terms of the HOF. The HOF doesn't have to prove he meant to do it, they just know he did use illegal steroids. That can be grounds for keeping him out.
  17. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 09:08 PM) I think Bonds was smart enough that when the Drs said: "Dont ask" he didnt ask. Plausible Deniability. Remember Anderson and Bonds were really good friends, to the extent that Anderson has said he would never testify against Bonds. Bonds was their meal ticket, they had an incentive to protect him at all costs and that includes being smart enough to know that as Drs if they cover for Barry, hed always have an excuse. The question for perjury is did he actually know, not did he have an idea, not did he think maybe, its did he actually know. If he did not know for sure, he can not be convicted. This is just breaking the law 101, whoever is the most important part of the group, you protect at the cost of the rest of the group. (Edit) More specifically think of it this way. I develop an undetectable steroid for Barry. I at the same time start Barry on a new training regiment. Barry can swear on his life that he believed it was the new training regiment that made him stronger and develop more mass. I as the Dr tell him its the training regiment, that the flaxseed oil is doing nothing. He relied on my statements as the Dr. I insulate Bonds, because Bonds has the money. I know as long as I protect him Im set. Its just so simple to make it impossible to prove this type of stuff. You're not telling anybody anything new. We understand the concept. You're looking at this only in a legal matter. Yes, they probably won't be able to convict Bonds. What most people are saying is that we don't need a conviction, as it is abundantly clear to anyone with a brain that he took steroids, and did so knowingly. The HOF voters don't need a conviction. They are smart enough, as is the rest of the nation, to know he cheated without having him thrown in jail.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 08:44 PM) Only good part was the ending, IMO. It was a very good premise. And yes, the ending was good. It was very much the opposite of what you'd expect out of Hollywood. I guess Stephen King wrote the ending differently, but really liked the director's idea for the end.
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 05:56 PM) It's total horses*** that Pete Rose isn't in the Hall. Just wanted to take another opportunity to say that. And Shoeless Joe. He was banned for life, and he's been dead for decades. Put the guy in already.
  20. I'm going to miss Uribe, and I'm thankful for his time here and the part he played in bringing us a championship. But, it is just time to move on.
  21. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jan 29, 2009 -> 04:18 PM) thank you that's your opinion, and you can't prove it, so why make the statement? And cheating, no matter if it helped him to reach the goal or not, is cheating. So, why make your statement? He cheated any way you cut it.
  22. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 01:04 PM) It is so close. They bring a couple staff members and they sit in the McDonalds drinking coffee and meanwhile their "patients" and "residents" and tearing open packages, and starting conversations with everyone. Today one of their kids grabbed my cart to return it to the front where the 85 year old, I should have saved for retirement, greeter would say "nice job!". And it is Winter Texas time so the damn trailer parks are full and they all come to "WalMart's" with their name tags and helpful suggestions that start "up north we . . ." You talk as if any elderly person who does this didn't attempt to save money. I don't think it's that cut and dry.
  23. QUOTE (MO2005 @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 11:54 AM) And seriously how many players in this league are hot all season long besides maybe Albert Pujols? Every player has hot and cold months, but it's what makes the defense and team better. Crede's presence alone was enough even when he was slumping a bit because his defense was always stellar...Let's compare the 2...who would you rather have.. A guy who strikes out less than 100 times a year or more than 150 in a full season? A guy who has been an all star or not? A guy who's defense is predictable or unpredictable? A guy who when we need a clutch hit will deliver or not? I mean Crede over Fields for me anyday even with the back problem.. We got Betemit and Viciedo waiting in the wings..I would sign Crede to a one year deal because the guy is proven. Also what would happen to Joe Joe the late inning hero? You're completely skipping over the fact that Crede has not been healthy, and has been bad recently. And then you mention that Crede has been an all star, but Fields has been in the league for less than two years. Let's give him a chance to see if he is also an all star, and if his defense will become "predictable" and his offense "clutch."
  24. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 11:22 AM) Please bring back Joe Crede. I would think the price would be right and Joe >than Josh. I know it isn't going to happen, but I am afraid we will see some loses in 2009 because of inferior defense at 3B. I don't put much faith in these off season stories centered around how much better someone is looking. They all look and perform better during winter reconditioning. There's a reason Joe Crede isn't on a major league club today. HE'S DONE AND NOBODY WANTS HIM! Get over your ridiculous man crush on him. It's over. Joe Crede is over.
  25.
