  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 04:36 PM) So you are giving Rios a free pass for his s***tiness before this season and tossing your wrath to Ozzie instead? Before this is over, Ozzie is going to get blamed for this year's attendance woes. Wherever did I say that? I can admit that last year Rios sucked, and Ozzie was a part of the problem. you can do no such thing, all you can do is repeat "Ozzie is rich. Ozzie won a world series. Cooper stabbed him in the back" I NEVER gave Rios a free pass. But looking at the player we are seeing now compared to what we saw the past few years, it is like seeing a completely different person. Please tell me, what changed between now and then, greg?
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 04:33 PM) I think it's ridiculous. Of course you do. I wouldnt expect anything else.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) I'm saying it must be nice to be as gawdawful as Rios had been and be able to have people blame it on the manager. My god. It's ALL on Rios. He's the guy performing. What a convenient excuse for loafing and sucking. That Rios gets a pass on this amuses me. Blame it on Ozzie. Hilarious. Man I wish people could take years off at work in real life like Rios did ... and have those people keep their jobs cause of their bad upper management team. What a joke. Hey, now you are seeing it isnt just these messageboard creatures that are pointing it out now. It is actually people that follow the game for a living. Pretty odd how that works, eh? And conversely, pretty odd how the Marlins added all of these high paid athletes and they ARENT PERFORMING UP TO EXPECTATIONS either. Weird.
  5. The hourly weather forecast actually looks like they will get the game in uninterrupted, but those forecasts have been really wrong before
  6. QUOTE (Boogua @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 04:06 PM) They added Parrish who blew up after he came to the Celtics (probably nothing to do with Bird I'm sure). McHale was a rookie who averaged 10 points per game. He averaged 8.5 PPG in the playoffs. Nobody else was really added. They won the NBA championship. I honestly don't even like the stance that I'm forced to take. I agree that Lebron wasn't provided with that much help. I just think it's a bit exaggerated. Mo Williams wasn't a terrible player and averaged 17 PPG before joining the Cavs. Jamison averaged around 20 PPG before going to the Cavs. Varajao was good defensively. Anthony Parker was a good shooter. I don't think Pippen would have been the same player he became without Jordan. I don't think Parrish would have had the same career without Bird. I don't know who you could say that about with Lebron. He's just a ball dominant player that improves his teammates (although a great amount) by driving and dishing. It just seems like he doesn't hold his teammates accountable like Bird and Jordan. And Lebron wasn't forced to leave Cleveland. Look at Olajuwan's Rockets. He went through like a 5+ year stretch where his second best player was Otis Thorpe. That didn't prevent him from ultimately winning two championships. No, but MJ taking his little gambling hiatus definitely helped Olajuwan win those titles. If MJ was still in the league, those titles wouldnt have left Chicago.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 04:19 PM) Alex Rios should not be praised for finally earning his money. Give me a break. It's on him for being a piece of crap last year and the other years he sucked. Kudos to him for this year, though. Must be nice to earn the kind of money Rios earns. Critics can say a new manager brought it out of him. That pisses me off. It's ALL ON THE MILLIONAIRE RIOS, not his f***ing coaches. Right greg, at no time ever in the history of working under someone has the way a manager treated someone affected their performance.
  8. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 01:11 PM) We should have won it last year, if it wasn't for Kyle Williams. Well if we can be revisionist, the Bears would have won it if Cutler didnt break his thumb. See how that works? It happened, Williams fumbled.
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 12:54 PM) You're a f***ing joke if you're honestly suggesting Pierre over Viciedo in any capacity. Pierre put up .621 and .642 OPSs against RHP the last two years. Unless you think he's suddenly found the fountain of youth, he's going to regress significantly in the 2nd half. On the other hand, Viciedo has a decent chance to improve in the 2nd half. There is no debate here. Had you chosen a respectable player for your platoon idea, people would have been more willing to listen, but most would have ultimately disagreed. However, you're clearly trolling and went with the idea that would cause the most anger on this board. Stop couching insults. Now.
  10. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 12:44 PM) I know, but the wording seemed harsh. I didn't want Quentin to leave, but since it seemed we didn't have any chance at the division this year, I was fine with trimming some fat for someone young. Seemed hostile towards Quentin, and that confused me. I was tired of the injuries. It was too much
  11. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 11:01 AM) I hope we make trades for Liriano, Putz and Oliver I think KW would be considered a master thief if all of this happened
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 10:30 AM) What's the scouting report on Pedro? Scouting report on Pedro
  13. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 08:18 AM) Ten years = fully vested. Player and his children and grandchildren should be set for life. Four years to qualify, I believe. unless you are Lenny Dykstra
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 08:04 AM) There is the problem. You can't take those things out. They happened. His ego also ruined years worth of players and acquisitions that could have added to that trophy case. But it was more important for Ozzie to be right, and to be the center of attention, than to get the best out of guys like Nick Swisher, Javy Vazquez, Alex Rios, and Adam Dunn. It was more important for his kid to get a lot of money and a high draft position than what was going on in the field. The Sox even hired one of his kids to scout, just to shut him up, and instead he blasts the organization. You want a villain, you are listening to him butcher the English language. We could have had way more than just 2005 if Ozzie could STFU every once in a while, and put himself second, instead of first. All Ozzie is, is a realty show whore anymore. At least when he played baseball and first started managing, he seemed to care somewhat about the game. Now he is trying to bully 19 year olds to get a few more seconds on SportsCenter. Not only was it time for Ozzie to leave, the longer he is gone, the more I am convinced he f***ed us out of at least division titles, and maybe more, over his last few years. You can hate on Kenny and Coop, but they are still here, and guess what, the Sox are winning with half of the talent they had last year. but he is rich

  21. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 10:46 AM) The bulls are tanking on purpose so they can draft tim duncan. Tim Duncan Jr. In 2020.
  22. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 10:20 AM) Bleh. I'm less interested in how good the Mavs look and more interested in how bad WE look. The inability to even have a meeting with Mayo is a huge black stain on this FO. If details come out of this signing and it turns out they gave him equal amount of money we would have been able to give him, there's no excuse for this failure This is quite a change of tune from Mr "Lets stay the course, everything is fine, dont panic everyone"
  23. I am really annoyed that he didnt have that bone chip removed in the offseason like he was going to.
