QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 04:38 PM) If Danks does sign an extension sometime soon and the terms are close to 5/$65M then Doug Seyller deserves are undying respect because no writer whether national or otherwise has even hinted that the Sox and Danks are even talking and yet some f***ing Art Designer with 182 followers on twitter already has a dollar amount out there. This would be at least his 3rd big get. I would argue 4th. Remember, he called Peavy...twice. I remember that night in chat when you were like "look at this post on the MLB boards, guys." And we laughed

QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 04:04 PM) I can't promise this will work out, because I have no idea, but what if they felt getting a good starting pitcher in the system was more important than having Santos another year when they have a lot of confidence in Reed? If they keep Thornton, Ohman, Frasor, Crain, and Reed along with some long relief, that should be enough...and Molina will be at AA and be ready to go in 2013 at the latest. I just don't think Santos being traded is a deal breaker when it comes to the Sox competing in 2012. I dont think it is a dealbreaker, but lets be honest, our top two relievers are no longer in the bullpen with Santos traded and Sale moving to a starter. There is a lot of question marks in the bullpen after Crain/Thornton at the moment. Frasor and Ohman were spotty at best

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 03:59 PM) If that's the rotation, having a strong and deep bullpen should be mandatory. Thank Goodness we didn't trade away any relievers this offseason. LOL is this supposed to be in green?

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 11:58 AM) I'd rather start McCown than enderle. Enderle looked bad in preseason. You owe it to the vets on this team to TRY and make it to 9-7. At least enderle had a preseason. McCown was teaching a month ago, and hadnt played in the NFL in 2 years. I really dont know how McCown gives you a better shot

QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) It's not up to Jerry, it's Lovie's call. Lovie probably doesn't want to get the kid killed behind that offensive line. Wouldn't surprise me if Enderle starts against the Vikings next week. So it is a better idea starting him against Jared Allen? McCown shouldnt play, if they believe Enderle has a future in the league, its time to find out

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 11:17 AM) I'm stuck on what to give my girlfriend for Christmas. We were talking several weeks ago and both admitted not knowing what to give each other. We've known each other casually for four years, but have dating about a month. I just told her to buy me shoes, since she hates mine, and when I asked her what she wants she said, "I don't know." Therein lies the problem if a girl doesn't know what she wants, how the hell should i know? I know there's a concert she's interested in around July, but doesn't anyone else think that's a little forward to buy her tickets for an event that's seven months away when we've been dating for a month? I worry about her feeling pressure to keep me around, even though we've known each other casually for years so it's not like everything is new. Otherwise, I know she enjoys drinking wine so I was thinking about a classy, old style type of wine opener. Then a set of wine glasses and perhaps something else added in. Any suggestions? porn

Bears announce McCown starting Sunday night. So F***ing stupid. Whats the point? McCown wont be a bear next season, you might as well start Enderle and see what the kid can do. Instead, we get a guy who was selling insurance a month ago. Way to find out how your draft pick can do Jerry

The way i look at it is this, if the world is going to end, I am pretty sure I am not going to be able to stop it. So i am just going to carry on the way I always do. Of course, if I find out that I am the planet savior and I was born on the planet Rippedton with the single purpose of saving planet Earth, I will do so. I will let you guys know if that is the case

Yu Darvish
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 20, 2011 -> 11:41 PM) That's why I said for now. The Rangers, along with the Rays and Phillies, are the premier organizations in baseball. So if they feel confident in investing such a hefty sum towards a pitcher, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. When have the Rays invested a hefty sum towards any pitcher? Or player, for that matter? They have moore and longoria locked up to long extremely team friendly deals, and they have dealt away any other player for prospects and ML ready players(Garza, Bartlett) or just let the player walk when it is time to get paid(Pena, Crawford). Totally different organizational philosophy than the Phillies who are spending money like it is going out of style and trading whoever has value for stars. And you say that Darvish is "clearly" a better prospect than Daisuke 6 years ago. When did you come to that determination? Daisuke was supposed to be the real deal, his "gyroball" was supposed to defy gravity and be unhittable. It didnt, it wasnt, and he turned out to be a flop when you consider the posting fee and his contract. But that doesnt change the fact that Daisuke had the exact same hype back then that Darvish has now. Darvish could very well come in and dominate, but he also could be outclassed by a league that is far superior than the league Darvish has been in.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 20, 2011 -> 01:43 PM) They got rid of Fit Finlay? Women's matches are just terrible. I hate to sound sexist or misogynistic, but women are completely talentless and uninteresting as wrestlers. Valets or nothing. Their sole purpose is to fill up time and provide people with bathroom breaks. Nobody pays attention, and I'd venture to guess that applies to female fans as well. He got busted for a cheap heat angle, he had them cut off the PA in the middle of the star spangled banner and the US Natl Guard was pissed http://www.cagesideseats.com/2011/3/29/207...nt-from-sponsor

QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 20, 2011 -> 12:47 PM) Alicia Fox, whose botched move level rivals only Sin Cara's, caused a HUGE welt on Beth Phoenix's face at TLC by botching her finisher and landing full-force on poor Beth's mug. If they can't teach these girls to work (and getting rid of Finley hasn't helped in that regard), then please bring back the days of valets. The vast majority of diva matches are painful to watch, and most of them can't deliver a promo to save their lives. Phoenix and Natalya are the only women in that locker room that are known to be able to carry a match. Not surprising that Natalya is a Hart

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 20, 2011 -> 08:18 AM) This is interesting. That game last night was crazy. One thing I learned was that Chauncey still has something left in the tank. That steal - run the court - pass off the backboard to Blake was nuts. How crazy is it that Blake Griffin went from having Mo Williams and Eric Bledsoe tossing him the ball to f***ing Chauncey Billups and Chris Paul? CP3 also had a great lob to DeAndre Jordan for an alley oop dunk. The Clippers are must-see TV this year. And yeah, I think Chauncey can shoot better, run better, and obviously pass much better than Rip. I wonder what the Bulls would have had to bid (perhaps the $5 million they bid on Rip?). Was it a matter of outbidding someone else? Or a waiver order? I thought the Bulls really had no chance because the Clips were way in front of them in the waiver order And im pretty sure Rip cleared waivers, so there was no bid, he just signed a FA contract

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) Not starting, but playing significant minutes. EDIT: I think I might be wrong about this, team website has him listed behind Crabtree on the depth chart. ESPN has him listed as the starting #2 WR. Forgive my potentially erroneous assumption. If braylon edwards were healthy, Williams wouldn't be a starter. But for tonite at least, he is.

Offensive Rushing YPG: 99.7 good for 25th overall Defensive Passing YPG: 298.4 good for 31st overall Defensive Rushing YPG: 108.4 good for 12th overall With Rodgers, they won 5 games by 7 points or less. The Packers with Flynn are maybe 8-6., but Id guess they are 500 or worse. Pffft please, Matt Flynns obvious progression indicates the packers would be no worse than 12-2. /J4L

Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 19, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) Where was the discussion in the beginning of the season? Everything throughout the year until today fell on Martz. This has been a flawed roster for a few years now, and the worse thing is, Angelo has yet to plug those holes. Urlacher and Briggs are getting older. Tillman is getting older. They've drafted a million defensive tackles with high picks who are out of the league or close to it. Chris Williams was a bust. They tried to patch up the WR spot. Yet, the story was the same with the fans, "Oh, well the offense is too complicated. Oh well, there should be more bootlegs. Oh well, they're not running the ball enough. Oh well, they're not threatening with the pass enough. They need to get it to the TE's more. They need to get it to Knox more." How about they need better players and admitting such from the beginning instead of looking at things through rose colored glasses. When those comments come out it is more of people trying to make lemonade with lemons. Every single person who is a bears fan in this thread has blasted Angelo for his various shortcomings and failings in trying to put a team together. We would all love the team to just get better players. But expecting the Bears to just "get better players" is a lesson in futility
