Jim Hendry is out as GM
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 10:38 PM) http://www.suntimes.com/sports/7187103-419...-his-fault.html Kenney is ONLY business side of things....nothing to do with players/personnel/scouting/development side. If Ricketts was really the one who approved all those long-term deals with no trade clauses (and not the ownership groups)....he should be gone, too. So Ricketts should fire himself?

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/...mid-ncaa-review Lache Seastrunk granted his release from the Ducks. I have a feeling the Ducks are shortly behind Miami and Ohio State in the glare of the NCAA. The Willie Lyles situation goes right to Chip Kelly's desk

Gamethread: White Sox vs Rangers
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) Be prepared for another tease. I won't fall for it, but it's predictable -- by September 5th (immediately after a three game series against the Tigers) they'll be within 2 games. September isn't quite September without the White Sox falling apart at the hands of the Twins, and since the four game series will matter (unlike the one earlier in the month) they'll crap themselves. I am prepared. It has happened all year without fail, why stop now?

All Things Rick Hahn
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 04:04 AM) Calm? Hahn? Really? You're sure about that? There's better reasons for the Cubs to hire him than for the White Sox. The Cubs have always been his favorite team. We need someone who knows how to work creatively within a lowered budget (we're not going to see anything north of $105 million for a long time) and whose strength is scouting/talent identification and development. These are all weak points for Hahn. If we want to break away from this "organizational miasma" of the last 3-5 years, then why would Hahn be a better choice than KW? Because he went to Harvard Law or Northwestern, that somehow makes him more qualified for identifying better scouts or a minor league director? Whether all he's done is "follow Kenny's marching orders" or he's actually shown some independent judgement over the last 3 seasons or so, how is he given a free pass whereas KW has been hammered (and rightfully so) for the majority of his moves the past 3 years? I'd just like KW or Ozzie or anyone to point or out list 5 SPECIFIC baseball-related reasons he would be a good GM for the White Sox. He's already starting out at a disadvantage....when you're heart's in another place (Wrigley), you'll never quite put the same amount of time and effort into the job as KW and Ozzie did when they first came on board. We need a "hungry" GM. Hahn will never be that. It's not who he is. He might be "competent," but he will certainly never be a visionary. Hiring Hahn would more closely resemble the Cubs promoting Crane Kenney to GM than the White Sox hiring another KW from outside the organization, someone with a new and fresh perspective. Him taking the Cubs' job might be the greatest thing to happen to the White Sox out of the entire 2011 season (off-the-field). With that being said, KW and Ozzie and the whole coaching staff needs to go, no matter what happens with Hahn. honestly Caulfield, why would they do that for anyone but the team he is interviewing for? We would never see a list like that, thats a ridiculous thing to ask for.

Winterizing U.S. Cellular Field Being Priced Out
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 20, 2011 -> 09:12 AM) Didn't Minnesota break that rule last year? That would probably be regarded as an emergency exception to the rule. They really didnt have anywhere to play aside from Chicago, and Minnesota didnt want to hand the Bears another home game(as if it mattered anyways)

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 08:15 AM) You should know I was talking about his pregnant gf... I'd rather take my chances with the group of 8th grade girls who just found out Beiber cancelled than the pregnant significant other... it still works

"in other news, a flash mob of teenage girls beat and left for dead a man known only as T R U. no motives are known at this time, but it is rumored that he told them to stfu at a movie theater. the girls immediately tweeted to the entire 8th grade cheerleading squad, which showed up when the movie was over and beat the ever living hell out of T R U. he is resting comfortably at North Houston Community hospital with a severely bruised ego"

QUOTE (T R U @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 02:39 AM) So I went and saw Fright Night at midnight (it was good) and there were two girls directly behind us and then a bunch of teens in the back row, all loud for about half of the movie.. well my pregnant fiance is starting to get pretty upset about this, so I finally got to do something ive always wanted to do but never could before.. So the two girls behind us were talking, not whispering, just about non stop.. finally, I turned around and said "Hey, can you shut the f*** up please" and not only did they stop talking period, the teens in the back stopped making noise as well.. it was quite satisfying Like

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 11:43 AM) I don't see much replayability there. You watch the show to see what happens next, but there's not a ton of character development or set up that you might have missed earlier. They go from crazy situation A to crazy situation B. I guess I just see a show like MM or BB having extended runs on other networks. Totally disagree. These people are all learning how to live and survive, like Milkman I have also rewatched the series. I cant wait to see what happens between the wife and best friends.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 18, 2011 -> 11:22 AM) Maybe Chairman Reinsdorf doesn't want to spend money on something the organization has shown to be a weakness which is identifying amateur players who can play in MLB. It's made more difficult by their usual draft position. I dont know, what does your guy on 35th think?

White Sox vs. Indians
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 01:17 AM) Of course I will. I was jumped for saying Juan is a "good" baseball player. He is a good baseball player. I stand by that statement and I'm glad he got the hit and we beat those assholes. You were jumped on because you were saying that when he was listed as the absolute worst player in the major leagues, so dont jump on your soapbox and act like we were all crazy for saying it at the time. And he is not "good". He is sufficient. He is having a good streak, coming on the heels of an epically bad streak.
