QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 03:14 PM) Either this is BS and KW is playing possum with Rizzo, or Rizzo is indeed content with gettig nothing but draft picks for Dunn. Let him try to get teams to overpay, Kenny has a line he isn't willing to pay for a rentle. I just hope we still look to add something we need a bat. That is not guaranteed. If the Nats offer him arbitration and he accepts, which is possible considering it will be a 1 year contract for like 15-18 million dollars, then they get no draft picks and they have to pay Dunn bigtime. It is a big risk for Rizzo

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:38 PM) Earned runs QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) Putz 27, Thornton 17, Threets 7, Santos 6, Jenks 2 = 59 scoreless appearances currently going. scoreless appearances only is for earned runs? I thought it was whether a run was scored, earned or not
-
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) He did say appearances, still dont know if that is true though. There is no way Threets has made 7 appearances since that game either, that was Sunday or Saturday. I think that number is wrong

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 01:22 PM) Putz 27, Thornton 17, Threets 7, Santos 6, Jenks 2 = 59 scoreless appearances currently going. Threets has thrown 7 innings since the game vs the Athletics where he threw the ball away and Coco Crisp scored from first?

Putz is flat out ridiculous. And he knows it, he just has that "I WILL beat you" look on his face at all times

QUOTE (asmithxc @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) He could be a good back of the rotation guy if we didn't have to give up much to get him everytime I read your name I see "asthmatics"

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 11:48 PM) Haha. Well, the bad news than is that he still proceeded to throw the no hitter. are you in Cdale this summer? or in the Chicago burbs?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 12:52 PM) Or the people who have trouble going are too timid to mark their own f***ing territory. I wish humans worked like that. I'd own everything. i would totally pee on your pee. you would own nothing
-
yeah trading Lilly to the Cardinals would cause absolute mutiny by the Cubs fans. I would think Greinke to the White Sox would have a better shot(and I think the chances of that are miniscule to none)

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 10:54 AM) LOL, does anyone want to give me odds that Mark Prior will have a longer/better career than Strasburg??? I'm 50/50 whether or not that should be in green font ESPN will be very sad that this hall of fame pitchers career was cut short

QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:56 AM) The only two guys that interest me on the blue jays are Bautista (although I don't think he is a fit, righty with a bad average) and overbay (rather stand pat then trade prospects for him). But sure seems Kenny has scouts everywhere looking for a piece or two to improve. You wouldnt want Frasor, Downs, or Marcum?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:41 AM) ESPN's Park Factor data on Home runs. Biggest effect on HR this year: #1: U.S. Cellular Field. #30: Target Field. He would still have to pitch at the Cell. Anyways, I stated my opinion. I dont think he is that bad of an option. The end

i actually get "stage fright" when I am really hammered at a bar and have to go really bad. I will be standing at a urinal with my bladder sagging like a bowling ball and i just cannot go. and it isnt when people are around either, it is any time, if the bathroom is empty or not.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:20 AM) That's really a pretty weird way of looking at a guy's numbers...because in the other 5 starts, he allowed 3, 6, 9, 5, and 3 runs. But in this case, it's probably particularly instructive...because it's telling you a lot about how Lilly pitches. As such a fly ball pitcher, he winds up heavily influenced by where he's pitching and who he's pitching against. Those good outings you're talking about: Home against the Dodgers At Milwaukee The near no-hitter against us (Wind blowing in) @ Seattle home against Pittsburgh home against Houston On the road at Houston 4 of those 6 starts were against the 3 worst offenses in baseball. ONly 1 was against a legitimately top level offense, the game against Milwaukee. If I'm reading the weather right, there was a strong wind blowing in from RF on the game at home against the Dodgers. You are really going to use the wind blowing in excuse? Ok, whatever, I watched the white sox game too, and he wasnt just letting the hitters hit it up into the wind and counting on his outfielders, he was thoroughly dominating the Sox with his inside cutter. And of the starts he lost, he gave up 3 runs in 2 of the 5 games, did he go long enough to get a quality start? Im not saying Lilly is a great pitcher by any stretch, but I think he could be a fine #4 starter this year if it were to come to that. Strange how everyone is so afraid of Lilly going to the Twins, yet wants no part of him on the Sox

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 09:23 AM) They wouldn't have gone into buyer mode, but they would have tried to keep the team together going into August if they were able to get the lead down to 5 or 6. No way. They are cutting costs right now, they would have to be within striking distance of first 3 weeks ago to even consider that

QUOTE (The Beast @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 12:40 AM) You're so funny. Way to try and bait me. you really think about oral sex when you cant pee? and that works? I hope you never get constipated
-
Lilly really doesnt bother me too much. He is similar to Buehrle, and that isnt necessarily a bad thing to me. When he is off, sure he gets lit up. When he is on he is very good. 7 out of his last 12 games he has allowed 0 or 1 runs, thats not too shabby
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 06:36 PM) things are much better now that they didn't sweep Cards last weekend...that was probably their best shot of getting back into the race. Do you honestly think if they swept the Cardinals that Hendry would reverse his course and go into buy mode instead of sell mode? This team had no intentions of reaching october baseball at all. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 04:11 PM) Cubs lose 2 of 3 to Houston for the 4th time this season. If those damn schedule makers wouldn't have put the 5th & 6th place NL Central teams on the Cubs schedule, they would be a .500 team today. The Cubs are a sleeping giant. Just you wait

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 07:01 AM) Too bad Thornton helped screw up the World Series for us with his poor ASG outing. all Thornton did was give us a chance to win it at home
