  1. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) Harrel looked like a future Cy Young winner last night....he can get the job done. future cy youngs dont have 6 walks and 1 strikeout in their debut. Future cy youngs have debuts like Strasburg
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) Thing is were were "crying" about it in March. But everything was going to be OK. Kw was going to upgrade at the deadline if we were in it. This was said about 47346438367347438944 times. more than that after today, which is my point. I will be disappointed if nothing gets done, but this is by no means the end of the world
  3. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:10 PM) His nick name is, Mr. Pessimism.... It's a pretty good preamble to a pessimistic statement. =) eh, Im seeing redundance more than pessimism. We all know they f***ed up with the rotating DH, we know they f***ed up letting Thome go. Its over with, time to move forward
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:06 PM) The Sox should have never been in the position they're in today. When they went with the DH by committee, they said that if it didn't work, they could then acquire someone at the deadline. The thing is, hearing everything about KW makes it seem like he knows more than anyone that he needs to find another bat. you keep repeating this. we know
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 01:04 PM) And that's why you don't go into a season with Mark Kotsay as your primary DH. the milk was spilled months ago. crying about it now wont change a thing
  6. 2 hours til the deadline chat? Refreshing Trade Winds is becoming tedious to me
  7. I think you are wrong. Kotsay/Jones is a black hole. they are winning despite the DH, and a formidable DH will make them that much stronger in the playoffs
  8. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:34 AM) That's a battle that the Rays have an advantage in. We just have to hope that our assets fit their needs a little better. Well, they did just trade for Chad Qualls so their list of available prospects has shortened
  9. Rays and White Sox going for the same things
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:31 AM) If we gave them Kotsay and CASH, would that be enough to get the deal done? JUST KIDDING. I think Ozzie might have a heart attack if KW traded his beloved TMK. LOL this would be awesome. I dont think Ozzie would care too much, I think him and ManRam are friends
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:30 AM) lol at least Chase would be closer to home (maybe). but we would lose a valuable member of the site!
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:27 AM) But can you imagine the reaction of the average fan to them giving away Manny for nothing? They don't know about Manny's contract status like some of us do. They have to get somebody worthwhile back. This has a lot of PR implications to it I imagine. The divorce that is at the center of the Dodgers true PR debacle is probably what would really drive this deal. I really dont think LA fans would be up in arms if they dumped Manny for nothing, he hasnt played all that much and he hasnt translated to a world series victory. They may work out a deal for a prospect, but I think getting out from under the financial obligation would be ideal for McCourt
  13. they did give the dodgers something. Jim Thome. Now its time to help us out
  14. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:22 AM) Is that like relocating your family away from a crack house? you are just full of analogies today arent you
  15. recent manny posts moved to the manny thread. *bam*
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:15 AM) I don't want Manny Ramirez for $16 million. That's ridiculous. The Dodgers would love to do this deal, but they have to save face and get SOMEBODY back. I think they should acknowledge the money they will be saving going forward. Lets face it, they are in much better shape financially and defensively in the next couple years with Manny out of LF
  17. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 11:12 AM) Heyman reports Menny would go to the Sox but Dodgers want big prospects back? Would you guys do it ?! Depends on the big prospect. I want to hold on to Dayan now.
  18. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 10:45 AM) I never said the sky has fallen, and I’m making an assumption based on a substantial amount of talk that's been flying around. I'm just frustrated, KyYie. For me, this is a culmination of the rotating DH thing. A concept that we both knew wasn't going to work, wherein management created a hole, which is proving very difficult to fill. And if we really did make a move, to set-up a lateral move without an agreement hashed out, I’m going to be furious. The Sox put themselves in a position of weakness coming into the season, that weakness appears to be getting exposed. you dont have to actually say "the sky is falling" to be a chicken little. You should review your posts in this thread, thats all I am gonna say. Your assumptions of the way things are playing out are a bit off, it isnt always as twitterverse says
  19. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 10:36 AM) I don't care about Berkman, i care about KW putting himself in a position to be screwed out of Dan Hudson and David Holmberg, for a pitcher he doesn't want, because he thought, not knew, that the Nationals would want him Edwin Jackson in return for Adam Dunn. you assume a lot and you are a chicken little
  20. the beer shower was awesome. I knew it was coming because the camera man widened his shot so he could get those guys running behind him. And amazingly, nobody was hurt during the beer shower
  21. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 10:26 AM) Morosi tweets that we asked about Manny.. and were rejected. I think that is a good thing. Manny has been an injury prone shell of his former self
  22. Rosenthal tweeting that Westbrook to the Cardinals all but done, going through the union for approval
