QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 03:24 PM) The 3D thing is pretty cool but there is something that is so ancient about it. Havent we advanced past 3D by now? I want s*** to be hollagrams without wearing some stupid glasses. as soon as that hologram theatre is set up, Im so there. Until then, I will wear the stupid glasses. And after I saw Monsters vs Aliens I had goggle marks imprinted on my face for an hour, those things were pissing me off. The arms of the glasses didnt adjust(no hinges), they were just one continuous form, so they were super tight in the back, and right behind my ears they were pushing in so much that I had a massive headache. However, all that said I still would go back and see a movie in 3d Imax again. It was a blast

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 03:14 PM) The hype train is 15 years in the making and has who is one of Hollywood's biggest name to it. Anything less than 250 million would be a disaster I would imagine. Cameron is planning on revolutionizing the industry with his 3D motion capture style in this movie. Ridley Scott was quoted recently saying that he was inspired by what he has seen of Avatar so much that he is planning on filming his next movie the same way.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 02:33 AM) I loved Adventureland, and it only made $2.2 million on Friday and will die a quick death. OTOH, Fast/Furious 4 made $30 million in one day already, will end up at around $75-80 million for the entire 3 days...and is one of the most mindless/brainless movies you could ever hope to see. On Sunday, it will be announced that this movie set the ALL-TIME opening for an April release. Hard to believe, isn't it? It's hard to believe there are so many Vin Diesel fans out there, the Asian presence from Tokyo Drift/Part 3 has been eviscerated almost totally and African-American actors/actress (T. Gibson) nowhere to be found. If there is a subniche for this movie, from watching it once, it would seem to be Hispanics, who, along with Asian-Americans, are one of the most difficult audience demographics to predict in terms of ticket buying behavior. http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Movies/04/...e.ew/index.html

Are the Sox moving Opening Day to Tuesday?
I almost wish MLB schedulers would just take into account that Chicago weather sucks in early April and schedule the Sox on the road until mid-April. Then maybe the Sox could get a nice homestand later in the season

Not really NFL related except for Tom Brady, but his second marraige to Gisele Bundchen had some interesting happenings, including paparrazzi getting shot at

QUOTE (GREEDY @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 02:50 PM) I can handle Murph's Cub love, but I can no longer tolerate, The way he will take a call, then not let the caller say anything. It is hard to explain but the minute a caller starts talking, Murph is trying to interrupt him, if you don't want to hear what he has to say... don't take the call Murph. It is like Murph thinks he needs to be talking 99.99% of the time. And of course, the ads will drive you ape s***. and not only callers, he interrupts guests just as bad. I have heard Stone and Hub both get pissed at him during their segments because he is always cutting them off and trying to finish their sentences. You are correct, this is his worst trait of all of his little annoying traits

Quick Question
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 01:30 PM) Honestly, it wasn't meant to tie to anything. It was just a random response to mreye's post. As I just said somewhere else, I wasn't trying to set the board on fire. I bait all the time. It's called discussion. However, I get your point. I don't ever want to tell you where to post either. It ain't my style... I guess that was my biggest point. Oh, and, I really try not to be an admin, I don't care what ya'll do. It's your board. I'm just the tech geek that has to fix the board when it goes haywire. I really don't want you all to think I'm ever on some power trip, because I'm not, and I can't think of anyone that is. Quick Question
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 01:23 PM) What "standards" are you talking about? Yes, by in large, you're right... but hell, threads get sidetracked all the time for many, many different things. I see the same things carried across the board, and I'm certainly not running around telling you or anyone else what or where to post. I don't think many admins/mods or regular posters (which is why I wrote it like I did) care what's posted where, with one notable exception (and no, it's not you). I see random "fear mongering" or whatever other adjective all over this board. And it's no big deal... unless we're (all posters) trying to make it one. Kap, look, I understand you are passionate about politics and it is a very big part of who you are(at least on this site). But that post you made yesterday looked like it was dragged straight out of the "Ban Guns/ 3 cops killed" thread and dropped in this thread because you were feeling fiesty. Im certainly not one to be telling people what to do on this site and I dont want to be that guy, but I felt that was a deliberate attempt at baiting and derailing a perfectly normal SLAM thread when that sort of discussion was happening elsewhere on a buster thread. That is all I have to say about that

Quick Question
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) Ohhhhhhh, let's play that card. Please. I think we all can say pretty much what we want, and I don't think any of us need the post police to come by telling us where to post. If I want to post a sarcastic comment, I'll post it, thank me very much. Sure, go ahead, just keep it in the thread where the start fighted. I mean, if people get b****ed at for dragging arguments from one thread to another and baiting other people, then why shouldnt you? The filibuster is intended for political discussion, correct? This thread wasnt started with political discussion, or with the intent of political discussion, was it? You just randomly interjected your Obama fear mongering crap out of nowhere, didnt you? I could care less about your views, but you should be held to the same standards that everyone else is held to

Sporting News and the Sox
QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 12:58 PM) I understood that, it's just that he would be far from the first to post a sub .600 ops in 250 at-bats in a season Oh I see what you were saying, misinterpret on my part. carry on

QUOTE (sircaffey @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 12:20 PM) Choo. Moving him there at least to start the season because of the shorter throws. Doesnt seem like a good idea to have him out in the field at all if his triceps are bothering him that much.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 12:33 PM) That's where only living in a three story building in Thompson Point has its perks. Our RA's are past the point of caring about anything and were the only building in TP without a head RA. This morning I apologized a little bit because she's usually pretty nice to us, but I cant account for my behavior when I'm hammered and I'm not willing to make any promises. Im not talking about any RA, Chuck was in charge of ALL dorms, TP and the Towers/University Park. If it gets escalated to him, you are talking soem serious annoying stuff to deal with. But TP always had a "set aside from the rest" mentality to it, so you are fine unless your dice-roller was really really pissed last night

BEARS GET CUTLER!!!
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 12:25 PM) Is it me, or is the level of excitement generated by this move unprecedented in Chicago sports history? Not including championships (the Bulls 6 titles, the Bears '85 title, the White Sox '05 title), when has a single Chicago sports happening single-handedly transform the city? The only thing I can think of that exceeds this move in terms of excitement generated is when Jordan came back in '95. Then again, the whole world transformed when that happened. It was pretty exciting when the Sox got Thome, when the Bulls got Rodman, and I am told when the Cubs got Nomar it was like this. The Bears going to the Superbowl was pretty crazy too

i am drunk in 2009
QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 12:24 PM) OK so in the dorm next to our designated drinking/smoking room there lives a girl who is way into role-playing. It's cool, thats her deal and nobody really gives her any s*** for it (even if she does wear a tail around). But she doesn't appreciate our noise levels at 5 am and has made it clear she would appreciate it if we stopped being so loud. Naturally we refuse to make any concessions. Were all Left 4 Dead aficionados so when she comes in to yell at us we've started yelling "you've startled the witch!" to whoever answers the door. Apparently yesterday after repeatedly making no effort to curb to her demands she broke down and screaming at everyone. This provoked a typical drunk male response of banter and ridicule. After she left, still in a bit of a huff over our shenanigans, we destroyed all objects which came before our path on the walk out for smoke breaks. There is nothing left of our dorm, we have severed all friendly communications with our neighbors and annihilated our living space. We have created a scale replica of Prypiat in 1990. Back when I was in Schneider, the head RA of all of the dorms was some douche named Chuck, and if you screwed up, you NEVER wanted to speak to Chuck. My best friend got busted with beer(because my girlfriend at the time was too f-in loud) and he had to speak to Chuck, and it was not pleasant. Hopefully Chuck is long gone, because I suspect little Ms D&D/Vampire/Warcraft will not let this slide, and Chucks "punishments"are pretty annoying.

QUOTE (sircaffey @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 12:00 PM) Choo is starting in LF because of triceps injury according to a couple of sources that I've read like rotoworld. As for DeRosa, I would say he's a solid 3B. He's certainly not a solid 2B where he played for the Cubs. A triceps injury to who?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 10:11 AM) Yeah, I remember former model-turned actress Devon Aoki in the first Fast/Furious...there weren't quite as many streets races in this one, but the one they did have was a really good one, FWIW. And the first scene with Michelle Rodriguez and Diesel in the Dominican Republic (didn't see Wilder or Jose Rijo in the background) robbing a 4 trailer gasoline truck will impress the CGI fans out there as well. I saw that scene, that was a "You can watch the first 6 minutes of this movie" preview trailer that came out a few months ago. It was very cool to watch, not believeable in the slightest, but still cool

QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 5, 2009 -> 09:50 AM) Now that the boner that I had from this trade has dwindled down I feel kinda worried about him now. This guy might wind up being the biggest asshole in the history. The dumb look on this guys face at the press conference when they are taking his picture is classic. He looked less than thrilled to be here. That dumb look has been permanently burned on his face. He just has a natural Jim Brewer stonerface
