Rod Blagojevich officially facing federal corruption charges
Kyyle23 replied to Steve9347's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 11, 2009 -> 08:45 AM) So, did anyone watch Blogo's "human shield" press conference the other day? I had to turn it off... it made me feel icky and uncomfortable. All I was thinking during the press conference was "I wish soxtalk was up right now, the filibuster would be hilarious right around now" To tell you the truth, Im kind of surprised at the lack of reaction thus far. And it was unbelievable, human shield is the perfect description for it. I like how he inferred that he was being impeached because he saved someone from cancer. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 11, 2009 -> 08:44 AM) cheating and lying: the American sad part is, I wish I did both better Shipps was in the right place at the right time, thats for sure

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 03:02 PM) If he couldn't handle the KC media without wanting to go up to the pressbox, Chicago is going to be a really fun place for him... I wonder if he will try and fight a reporter or teammate first. This signing almost makes me wish Jay Mariotti was still around. AOL Fanhouse!

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 02:25 PM) I guess there would also be the potential problem of paying them during their vacations. I'm sure most wrestlers would want to get paid as much as possible, and who knows if Vince would be willing to pay them during that time. highly highly doubtful. Unless your name is Triple H

Is it me, or does Tim Tebow look like a hulked out Rex Grossman? -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 08:08 AM) Or they could give each guy a two or three month vacation each year. I suppose it would be tough to write into the stories, but it seems possible. I dont think it would be all that difficult to write them in and out of the stories. The writers basically have to do it anyways with all of the injuries these guys sustain on a regular basis. Maybe a break for them would help them avoid some of the injuries caused by nagging pains that are often ignored.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 10:29 AM) I have this strong feeling that the Sox will do something semi-big in the next few days. Just a hunch, completely unsupported by any fact whatsoever. Which is why I am posting it here. There is a PHT catch-all out there in cyberspace just waiting for posts such as these......

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 10:50 AM) They could trade Cassell. Or keep him and let him start. Brady is way behind schedule from everything I've heard. thats because he is lost in Gisele-land not that I can blame him

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 07:36 AM) I thought Jared Allen should have been runner up. Besides Peterson, he was Minnesota's MVP this year. Anyways, I got: Giants over Eagles Panthers over Cardinals Titans over Ravens (UPSET?) Steelers over Chargers That game is going to end 3-2 -
QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 6, 2009 -> 02:00 AM) If you're bored, you can have a LOT of fun with these scammers. Yeah, I was reading 419eater.com the other day, that guy is hilarious. He has had those scammers get tattoos and everything

Remember the insane lines of kids waiting to play Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, Tekken, etc? There was always one kid that got there early, paid his 50 cents and never had to pay the rest of the time he was there because he was that good, and whooped everyones butt. My ex college roomate was like that. He had a 100+ page printout of every move you could do on Killer Instinct and he memorized that thing.

QUOTE (BainesHOF @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 11:06 PM) Not sure why there's so much negativity toward the thought of Baines as a Hall of Famer. While a decent debate could be made for either case, I'm wondering if some of you saw Baines play much. For starters, Baines was not your typical good-hit, no-field DH. He was an excellent right fielder before knee injuries and surgeries related him to the DH role. His head was always in the game and he got great jumps on the ball, often tracking down balls in the gap or down the line that you would have thought a faster player would be needed to get to. He had a great arm. While a few players had stronger arms, Baines was particularly accurate with his. Teams seldom ran on him, yet he still finished with double digit assists in a few years early in his career. Did you know that he also played some center field early in his major-league career? Now how many DHs can say that? Baines' offensive stats can be looked up, but anyone who saw him play will tell you they only tell part of the story. He was a tremendous clutch hitter. Hawks puts Baines in the top three of the best clutch hitters he ever saw with Yaz and Brett. He was that good. I'm not saying Baines belongs in the same breath as Ruth, Gehrig, Mays, Mantle, DiMaggio and Williams. But I believe he was better than some others already in the Hall of Fame. He was one of the best clutch hitters ever to play the game. That combined with his impressive career totals make him a Hall of Famers in my book. If you need a tiebreaker in a close call, Baines has always been a class act. Unfortunately you cannot use the "If only you would have seen him play up close" line of reasoning to get into the hall.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 08:43 PM) It is (at times), but no stadium compares to the ballpark in arlington. Also, considering he'll have to play the field everyday, I think that will effect his numbers as well. You could argue that hitting regularly in parks like Minute Maid Park, great american ballpark, wrigley, Brewers Park, and New Busch stadium should more than equalize what he was getting out of Arlington. Especially considering that the other fields he saw in that division(AL West) were notorious pitcher friendly parks But I dont believe there is any way that he plays regularly with all of his injury problems, rebuilt knees, etc. He really should be a DH/OF somewhere

I get these 4-1-9 scam emails about once or twice a month, and sometimes they are so ridiculously hilarious I like to share them with friends the kicker is where the email came from, [email protected], and when you hit reply it goes to [email protected] Its funny yet really sad that people actually fall for this often

QUOTE (The Critic @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 05:41 PM) I wonder if there was indecision or if it was a scripted thing to delay this. And I agree about Stevie, he's been snakebitten health-wise. Solid midcard guy, good at putting people over and was especially good in the Right To Censor angle. I have been kind of hot/cold watching RAW recently, has there been a "Mystery guy coming" buildup on the show indicating someone is coming in soon?

QUOTE (juddling @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 07:56 AM) Glad everything turned out ok..... Recently, Stevie Richards suffered a collapsed lung that resulted when doctors were trying to diagnose a lung infection causing him to have a chest tube inserted for several days. He was back in the gym after two days and is scheduled to appear for NWA No Limits on 1-9-09. Stevie Richards has some of the worst health luck in the industry. Just wierd stuff happens to him consistently Critic, I cant wait to watch tonite, I was wondering how long they would wait.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 5, 2009 -> 02:59 PM) No,they have ripped him. I know of one time I think it was the day after he left the suntimes. Maybe Hanley, but Mully stayed completely neutral on the whole issue. even going as far as saying he had no problem with him on a personal level, and never thought to question his "ethics" when writing articles. Maybe that has changed since the day Jay was let go, but I know for a fact that Mully didnt get on Mariotti's case at all
