QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 11:51 AM) How the f*** isn't Manny Ramirez the worst LF in the game? QFT Even though he is just a complete imbecile out there, I still laughed my ass off when i saw him miss a ball this year, and roll over twice to pick up the ball and throw it in from his knees

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 08:44 PM) Fine, but Slowey is the 3rd starter for the Twins, before Perkins and Blackburn. I would rank Saunders ahead of Weaver/Garland. You could argue that he was co-number 2 with E. Santana. Kershaw hasn't proven anything at all yet...Wellemeyer was released by the Royals not so long ago. splittin hairs now

QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 08:40 PM) Because if all he did was keep the Kerry states and win Ohio or Florida he wins. He won Ohio plus some. We know that McCain is not going to take CA, OR, WA, or HI. It's over. Well, I guess my question was more of a historical question rather than a present time question. I could have sworn I heard tonite that Ohio was a very strong indicator historically of which way the vote will swing. Almost as good as an indicator as the monday night football game

Al Davis has once again reached into his bag of insane crazy and decided that cutting a bunch of players, including DeAngelo Hall and Javon Walker, would be a good idea right now. -
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 08:28 PM) The question wasn't about avaliabilty. It was about who is a better 4th starter than Javy. Thats just not true. Come on Tony, Javy couldnt pitch past the 5th inning in his first year with the Sox. this year he couldnt pitch down the stretch, when his team needed him most, and in the playoffs. You will not get me to agree that Javy has been good unless the Sox were out of contention.

Is there any theories why Ohio is such a strong indicator of which way the vote will swing?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 08:25 PM) Tim Wakefield (he's more likely to retire than to pitch for the ChiSox) Andy Sonanstine (better, but more like to get Edwin Jackson and what do we give up?) Kyle Davies (not better than Javier) Kevin Slowey (MN would never trade him to us) Rich Harden/Ryan Dempster (way too expensive) Todd Wellemeyer (mehhh) Joe Saunders (would be prohibitively expensive to acquire) Clayton Kershaw (Dodgers wouldn't dream of dealing him yet) The name of the game was to name better 4th starters, not to name better starters likely to be traded to the Sox

QUOTE (scenario @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 08:02 PM) Crap. Look at his season game log. He pitched alot of good games this season. Amazing how some fans want to re-write history and trash him because he had a bad end to the year. What did I rewrite? Javy has sucked when the Sox have been in contention. Both seasons.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 06:58 PM) From August 1st-September 14th, he pitched like an ace. I'm ready to move on from Javy, but not as a salary dump. I trust Williams feels the same way. Come on now, he beat KC twice, beat Oakland, beat Cleveland, lost to Detroit and beat them once, lost to Tampa Bay, and lost to Boston, and lost to Toronto. He beat the teams he should beat, and lost to playoff teams, hardly an ace

QUOTE (chunk23 @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 06:52 PM) Did you read the article? He countered the "pressure game"" cherry picking by showing how awesome he was in the regular season stretch. He also gets paid very little considering how expensive it is to sign even crappier pitchers. The Sox don't need to dump salary and Vazquez is good enough that it wouldn't warrant a salary dump. It would cost just as much or more to get an equivalent pitcher. I read the article. I also watched the entire season. When Javy was needed, he faded. And I am not interested in dumping salary, I just want to dump Vazquez. I have full confidence that KW can replace his spot in the rotation effectively. And Javy was far from awesome in the regular season stretch

Its like everyone who makes the 5th starter argument conveniently blocks out the end of the season. Did you not see what I saw? You want to see that again, for two more years? Everyone in the rotation steps it up only to have one of the higher paid pitchers step back and drag the team back and you want to see that again? Not me. Not ever again. Im also sick of hearing about how great his stuff is. Mike MacDougal has great stuff too, but both him and Vazquez lack the intestinal fortitude that a competing team demands of its pitchers.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 03:54 PM) While I'm not a fan of the Wii (was a previous owner of the system), it has done an amazing job reaching the demographic that the PS3 and 360 cannot. When I first had the system, I played it with a few people who don't like video games and they had a blast and ended up buying the system. At that time, I also had a PS3 which I showed them, and while I was "wowed" more by the PS3, they didn't care. They were astounded by the graphics, but when I put the controller in their hands, they didn't get it and didn't care. If you're a gamer or even an occasional gamer, the Wii is not for you. The games aren't especially deep, but they offer interaction with the games that PS3 and 360 don't. I'll tell you this: if the Wii had the power of either PS3 or 360 or even just the same game developers behind it, there is no doubt in my mind that I'd own a Wii. But Nintendo didn't go that way and they haven't since Sony and Microsoft stole the show. They've searched for other ways to reach different demographics, and with the Wii, have ultimately ran the show, while Sony and Microsoft battle for the people who will always be there for the market. Besides, I think the Wii is setting a new shape for gaming. While the technology will certainly be refined and improved, I don't think controllers will be the same when the PS3 and 360 reach the end. Interaction with games is an incredible thing. Little Big Planet is another, though different, example of this--and on the surface, that is a game for 11 year olds, but deeper, it's quite sophisticated. The Wii doesn't tap into my gamer needs, but it's not a childish system. It deserves some amount of respect for taking the risk that it did and introducing people who don't care for video games to them. That said, until they try to reach the people Sony and Microsoft are after, I'll never buy it again. Who typed this out for you? I dont even know you anymore

QUOTE (Shadows @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 12:03 PM) I wasn't bashing Nintendo, the N64 is still one of my favorite systems of all time. I was just talkin bout the Wii. I also wasnt bashing anyone who has a Wii, I was just simply saying my opinion on it. I know, and I dont really care what the bad things are about the system(you hear me BobDylan?) I enjoy it, it is relatively inexpensive, and when there are a lot of people involved there are some pretty fun party games. IMO Nintendo needs to get over themselves and let the 3rd party developers do their thing, and also bring in the Nintendo brand games. For whatever reason Nintendo just cannot let 3rd party developers have any freedom, and it drives a lot of them away. What I want is a sequel to Eternal Darkness, that game was so much fun, the insanity meter (and the results after you let the insanity meter drop) was awesome

QUOTE (Shadows @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 12:42 AM) I called you a Nintendo fanboy based simple on how many times I have seen you talk about Nintendo products/games in this thread and you are pretty much the only one I have seen like that, hence, why I brought up your love for Nintendo. Dont forget about meeeeeeeee! Its fine, you can have your PS3 games and I will have my Wii, Turbographx, NeoGeo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo, Gamecube, and N64 games. There are still plenty of fun Wii games that arent just for kids, but I fully admit that the system incorporates kids more than the others.

How many times do you think Stan Van Gundy has gotten laid because he pretended to be Ron Jeremy?

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Nov 3, 2008 -> 11:48 AM) my gf went in with the same attitude of "I'm going to walk out if I don't like it, and I'm going to try my best to not like it" and she ended up liking the movie more than I did. I thought the ending sucked (didn't stay around the credits long enough apparently) and it was a sappy-love story. Man, she is ready to cut and run for any movie. You should explain to her that movies arent cheap anymore

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 3, 2008 -> 11:50 AM) Collins is a guy though who knows his role and doesn't make mistakes. He doesn't turn the ball over, and you can't exactly say that about a Grossman for example. Cassel doesn't have much of a running game, but I'll agree he's got a pretty damn good supporting cast. Warner's argubly been a top 5 QB in the league this season, for Whiesenhunt is going to ride the hot hand there. What Kerry Collins are you talking about? http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CollKe00.htm The last year he got any play, 2006, he threw 1 TD and 6 INTs 2005 20 TD, 12 INT 2004 21 TD, 20 INT 2003 13 TD, 16 INT 2002 19 TD, 14 INT And his career is all along those lines. Collins definitely turns the ball over. He has 3 picks to 3 TDs this year. Now, he is managing the ball effectively for the Titans, and he is able to rely on an amazing defense. But if you stick him on a team with a less effective defense, I dont think he seems like such a great game manager. -
Circuit City should play into this thread pretty heavily seeing as they are closing 14 illinois stores

You know, I understand that Chicago people dont like Rex for his inconsistency and his maddening swings between really good and really, really bad. But the manufactured anger towards bullsh*t stuff just doesnt make sense. Some douchebag called into the score this morning and took personal offense towards Rex' spike after the sneak-in touchdown because he said it was towards Chicago fans, and fans started calling in agreeing with him about it. Are you kidding me? What the hell is wrong with people, let the guy live a little after scoring a touchdown.
