  1. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 1, 2008 -> 12:19 PM) I did. Regardless, for a backup catcher, it's not so bad. He still is a prime defender and has the ability to do what none of our catchers minus Miguel Olivo was able to do and that's throw out runners. 2 years, 2 million sounds about right. Heck give him 1 year 3 million with a team option for a 2nd year. In other news, apparently Griffey really wants to come back and will gauge what will it take for him to be brought back to the Southside. From all accounts, and this is my personal opinion after reading all articles, playing with the White Sox is his first choice. If Cora becomes the manager of the Mariners I bet Griffey follows him
  2. QUOTE (The Critic @ Nov 1, 2008 -> 10:28 AM) Oh, I know he doesn't want to be a heel, he never has. But in this case, I think it adds something to the angle. I thought he was a hindrance to the nWo stuff. The angle would have been better served for him to be the one guy who never joined, I think. WCW continued putting Goldberg in that role at that time.
  3. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baske...0,3374748.story Nice to see BG sharing the ball.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 08:38 AM) With the natural progression of David Price and Evan Longoria, along with a fatter payroll due to exposure/playoff revenue, the Rays are going to be just as good if not better next year. I don't buy that the Yankees will be much better... their major stars are one year older, and it sounds like Sabathia might wind up staying with the Brewers. The Red Sox... also one year older... they need Big Papi to be the MVP type bat to have a shot. its scary to think that Longoria will only get better if you look at how he started
  5. Is there any article that states the kids ages? Im just wondering if he had 1-3 spectacular years, or if he spread the "wealth" over a 10 year period
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 08:35 AM) And the random trade threads begin. I believe it's time to open up the trade winds again. I don't want to have to sort through 5 million "Sox should get Crawford" or whatever threads. Dont lie, you know you love it
  7. You just cant assume someone can close because of their stuff. Its a huge mental adjustment, and looking at the fact that he struggled when put into that role would make me very hesitant to do it again.
  8. Apparently Jeff Kent donated 15 grand to the people who want to vote YES on prop 8
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 24, 2008 -> 04:04 PM) Randolph is probably there as the token minority candidate. They'll hire Macha. He's done a lot with minimal salary in the past. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 25, 2008 -> 12:34 AM) Macha. Winner Winner Chicken Dinner
  10. QUOTE (rackemup @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 09:28 AM) Per Rotoworld Junichi Tazawa-S-Player Oct. 30 - 10:00 am et After asking teams not to select him because he wants to pursue an MLB career, 22-year-old RHP Junichi Tazawa went undrafted in the Japanese amateur draft Thursday. "I'm very relieved," Tazawa said. "I was very nervous right up until the end of the draft." Japanese players must play nine professional seasons before being eligible for free agency and bypassing that route means that Tazawa faces a three-year ban if he returns to Japan after playing elsewhere. However, with reports of a mid-90s fastball and several MLB teams already scouting him Tazawa will likely have no trouble landing a long-term deal. Source: ESPN.com This is who I was thinking about, although Yu Darvish was the name I remembered. I knew that the player was trying to use the same loophole that Hideo Nomo(or maybe it was someone else) used to get to the US
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 09:23 AM) One of my favorite programs on there is Conspiracy! Monster Hunters is either really good or absolutely awful. The Giant Squid episodes were cool because there was results, pictures of the squid. The Bigfoot stuff they do is a joke, grown men jumping at every stick breaking in the woods and making (what they believe) bigfoot calls into the woods. The loch ness/champ stuff isnt so bad, but when its bigfoot I just change the channel.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2008 -> 08:06 AM) You guys need to watch more history channel! History channel has had a lot of shows in the bigfoot/ufo/loch ness vein lately.
  13. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Oct 25, 2008 -> 03:49 PM) I got Mario Kart Wii, so if anyone wants to have a game on-line, let me know. PM me and I will give you my friend code and we can do a little cartin'
  14. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 05:39 PM) This led to a solid hour of Wikipedia for me. LMAO, that makes two of us. I had never heard of the Kecksburg crash before
  15. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 06:36 PM) Watching on the free preview for league pass, Curry getting boo'd out of MSG at intro's. I don't even know half the names on the Knicks roster. Curry hasnt really endeared himself to fans with his effort, in Chicago or New York

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 05:41 PM) I like his movies, too. The Academy just slobbers all over him, though. I know they do, but with good reason. The rumor going around about Gran Torino is that it was supposed to be Dirty Harry's character later in life, but Eastwood denies it.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) If you followed our planet as an outside for a month or two, would you feel safe landing? LOL, definitely not
  18. Mully and Hanley were discussing Kirk this morning. They were saying how great it was this year because when Rose comes out, you have a more than capable backup PG in Hinrich, whereas last year when Kirk went out Gordon was handling the point. If Kirk goes in this deal, then you see the same thing, Gordon coming off the bench to play point. Yikes.

QUOTE (juddling @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 11:31 AM) For those of us in here excited about such things.....RDJ is scheduled to play Tony Stark at least 3 more times...... Iron man Hopefully he doesnt have a change of heart if the director changes.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 11:12 AM) I believe they are building the Juan Uribe buffet. Tentatively titled "Snacks and Cakes for all, All you can eat"
  21. QUOTE (Texsox @ Oct 29, 2008 -> 08:51 AM) The team has 81 such parties every summer. Some years even more Well, that venue can hold the chaos
  22. Isnt Harrington known to be somewhat of a malcontent? Is his talent worth changing rotations, shipping off a former starting point guard, and pushing Tyrus Thomas back in line?
