Yes, its a different team, and yet....the exact same results so far...the comparisons, while seemingly unwarranted, are definitely noticeable. Offensive philosophy the problem? Aging power hitters who don't adjust? A s***ty hitting 'instructor'?
I don't know what the cause of all the offensive mediocrity is, but the struggles from 2007 that everyone kept saying "Don't worry, they'll start hitting soon enough", are painfully visible this year, with a 'completely different team'.
Why do we have to only compare to 2007? I mean, wasnt the pitching dominant and the offense pretty pathetic and homerun-driven in 2005? Why is 2007 the default comparison?
Mind you, I dont want to compare this team to any previous team. While the core is the same, there are many different players on this team that will affect the outcomes of games. Players not named Andy Gonzalez, Ryan Bukvich, Andy Sisco, Scott Podsednik, Mike MacDougal, and Bret Prinz(ie. players who had way more time on The White Sox major league roster than should have).
Every year plays out different. You might see similarities every year from previous teams, but that doesnt mean the team is going to do the same thing.
