  1. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) that was a bad swing by PK there, he got 2-0 and was looking to hit a bomb instead of trying to go with what was pitched Wang doesn't look good tonight and Sox aren't taking advantage Wang never looks good
  2. The Sox are sure working that Wang out
  3. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) I'm a lot more game smart than Ozzie, obviously. sure, thats why you work for a major league team, right? lol
  4. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) Ok, Mr. Omnscient, please tell us your sage advice because Wang has been arguably the Yankees' best pitcher and is bound to settle down. I mean there's no sense in running because no one has even stolen a base off of Jorge Posada. Hell, everyone knows Ozzie personally sent Cintron there. Will you shut the hell up? If you want to have a cynical wankathon where you hope for the Sox to lose so you can tell us how big your cock is, please go somewhere else. Cynicism is one thing, but it's another for some idiot possibly still in High School to parade around like he's the pinnacle of baseball logic. Ha, someone said it. LOL
  5. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) What's Torre angry about? Where Cintron was standing at the box? yep, Hawk and DJ talked about it the entire at bat
  6. if Cintron gets thrown out im gonna puke
  7. QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) 1+1+1 = 2? Pods "gave up" a run by getting thrown out at 3rd
  8. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) First home run in that kid's MLB career. maybe his AL career
  9. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) I am finally over the Ozzie Guillen Craze. If he stays next year, I will be highly disappointed. The guy flat out can't manage. Period. Nothing he does is above average. Who's available though? Razor Shines? thats overeacting if you ask me
  10. here comes Hawk and his umpire gruff
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 07:15 PM) Please don't start this again. Im not one to harp on umpires, but I thought Freddy got Arod on 1-2 and on 3-2
  12. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) Terrible call. Not only do we have to fight with Mackowiak in center, but a small zone. 2 SB, 1 run(so far) i erra', and now one walk What a great start
  13. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 07:12 PM) Pods could have had him at home. Why didn't he throw it? Ha, what makes you believe that? Damon could be running backwards and Pods still couldnt get him
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) My little chart.... That is your little grey box with a red X, not your little chart.

    Films

QUOTE(farmteam @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) Anyone ever see Everything is Illuminated? The preview looked kinda good. I also saw Porky's for the first time this week, and it was hilarious. The scene in the principal's office (right after the shower scene) is classic. Is that the movie with Elijah Wood as a guy who is searching for pieces of his family's history pre-holocaust?
  16. QUOTE(wallyburger @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 09:33 AM) Because it is his opinion, not yours or someone else's. Sun Times pays him for his opinion. He doesn't have to be balls on accurate or coddle the local sports product, to be an op/ed columnist. What he seems to do is ask questions that others might ask from an outside view, and then supplies his take. Beat writers do interviews or report on what a player said. They can have opinions, but rarely express them in their journals. They are reporters. Jay is not a reporter. Beat writers would not be exactly welcome in clubhouses or on chatered planes if they wrote the stuff Jay does. They are where they are by the grace of the players and management. If you want puff pieces, go to a beat writer. Ask a beat writer if he would rather be a columnist who does not have to stay on the good side of players and management to do his job. As a reader, you can ignore his articles. Box scores and beat writers will supply all the recap info you need. Jay , supposedly, got a raise and contract extension by the Sun Times. Someone at that paper made a decision that his articles were worth their while., at least to their revenue stream. It seems they don't care wheteher he is liked or despised, as long as he is read. Look, the guy ripped my esteemed U of Miami football team the other day. I thought he was way off base and was using stale outdated perception, but I really didn't expect him to go to the Huricane off season workouts to adjust his perception. Perception is what it is. Just Jay being Jay. Ozzie and Jay are trwins seperated at birth. i couldnt agree with this more. It is strange to me that you can appreciate and enjoy Jay for what he is, yet you despise Ozzie, but you think they are one and the same.
  17. QUOTE(wallyburger @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 08:24 AM) I am under the impression that beat writers need to follow the team on the road and show up in the clubhouse. I don't think that is appropriate or necessary for a columnist/op ed writer. No Wally, it isnt necassary for a columnist to be in the clubhouse(although I dont know why you would think it would be inappropriate for a columnist to show up in the clubhouse, when every other columnist in CHicago aside from Mariotti shows up). But is it appropriate to write columns as if you interviewed someone or as if you were in the clubhouse experiencing the atmosphere if you werent there? Think about how many times Mariotti uses the phrase "The mood in the clubhouse is.....". The guy is never there. It is one thing to speculate on happenings in the clubhouse, it is a completely different animal to get your report from someone else or from the television and make your own conclusions about it.
  18. QUOTE(flbob @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:21 AM) there's only one guarantee coming out of detroit this year: the lions will lead the nfl in wins. hear me out... red wings: president's cup, first round loss pistons: best regular season record, punked by miami (only because labron wasn't ready to go the next step) tigers: best in mlb, guaranteed to lose to sox/yankees/twinkees in al finals lions: guaranteed best in nfl, guaranteed lose in first round see? that's the magic in detroit this year. millen doesn't deserve such karma. :7) Ha, and monkeys will fly out of my butt. I will believe it when I see it.

    Brokeback Joker?

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 01:05 AM) I wasnt a big fan of Katie Holmes but I thought she was pretty good in the first one.... but supposedly she was a bitz to deal with and thanks to Tom she wont be back for sure. The choice of actor for Joker is also very interesting but they had to have joker... cant have batman without the joker. Just as long as they dont bring back the penguin or the riddler... Do yourself a favor and get a copy of the movie, skip to the part where she drives Batman to the "underworld" part of town and lectures him. Try not to laugh out loud at how bad she is. Then skip to the scene where the mind gas is dropped on the city and that random little boy gets pushed by a cop(actually, its a horribly acted scene by all parties, but Katie Holmes is really bad). She was a bad Batman girl. Real bad.

    Brokeback Joker?

I think it is really cool that Nolan is creating his own image of Batmans world though, and to create that he cannot deny Batmans first and foremost villain throughout his history. Honestly I was interested to find out who was going to play the Joker, but it really didnt matter to me because this is Nolans vision, not Ledgers. As long as Bale is Batman, Michael Kane is Alfred, and Katie Holmes isnt in the movie and/or killed off in a horrible accident, I could care less who the side characters are. Although I didnt think Gary Oldman was all that good, to tell you the truth. I really like what Nolan has done with the overall tone of the series though, Schumacher really crapped on the series with his sad attempt to recreate the old show instead of the comic book character.
