  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 03:49 PM) More like the whole season....as long as Vincente Padilla isn't pitching. I know he has been awesome the whole season. But since the all-star game, he has raised his batting average almost 10 points and hit 6 homeruns, not to mention his hitting streak right now.
  2. JD has been on fire the second half. Unreal.
  3. I just have to say that Don Coopers tweaks with Thornton have been the best surprise of the year and without a doubt one of his finest achievements as a pitching coach. Thornton is pitching with confidence and excellent stuff. It is amazing how much we rely on a guy who wasnt even getting mop-up duty and blow-out games a few months ago. Hats off to coop on Thornton.
  4. QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 11:07 AM) I went down to Northerly Island yesterday to see 311 and the Wailers. Amazing show. So much energy from both groups. It was strange I haven't really listened to 311 since like 7th grade and my friends asked if I wanted to go with. I was really impressed. I absolutely love their jungle drum interlude. It really sets the tone for the rest of the show.
  5. QUOTE(rafacosta @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 08:01 PM) They have other OFs that can play in LF. I don't think Blue jays are going to stay on the race for the next 2 weeks...I was just suggesting. I dont think he would be available to the team leading the Wildcard right now unless they were mathematically out of it
  6. QUOTE(rafacosta @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) Sounds to be a good a idea. What about Frank Catallanotto? Toronto is still in the WC race, but he would be a good OBP #2 hitter, not much speed though. He can play LF too! Sooooooooo why exactly would Toronto want to get rid of him then?
  7. the guy is a strikeout machine. He has struck out 94 times in 390 at bats this year, the astros probably just figured they needed to give those at bats to someone else in the lineup. Only 9 homeruns out of him this year is really surprising too, playing in that ballpark
  8. QUOTE(beautox @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) If Girardi leaves, i'd love to see the Marlins persue Sweet Lou. Ha, that means that they would want to spend money. Aint happenin
  9. QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) exactly, how do you expect to meet women walking around with a satin jacket that's inside out and just walking around with the mind of an 8 year old. Again another thing that the WWE does, which i'll never get. Eugene isnt doing that stuff to meet chicks. He is doing it to get paid. Otherwise he wouldnt be doing it. Its kind of like this to Vince: If you wont do it for him, whatever "it" may be, then he will found someone who will do it. He built this thing, he runs it how he wants to. He makes a ton of money being ridiculous because he can.
  10. Loria is a friggin moron http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2547478 Methinks he doesnt plan on being manager at the end of the year
  11. The Red Sox are having some bigtime injury problems, Varitek is out, Lowell, Loretta, Nixon, and Mirabelli have all been in and out with injuries recently. The pitching in Boston isnt great(it is good), they need a little offense behind them.
  12. Can Ozuna be optioned down right now without having to pass through waivers?
  13. Is it me, or am I seeing the WCW Kiss Demon™ in the white sox dugout every time I see a homerun?
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 05:01 PM) Overrated: Player: Jeter, and this is the easiest pick on this list. Manager: Mike Scoscia GM: RyanMark Shapiro Underrated: Player: Jermaine Dye Manager: Ned Yost GM: Ned Coletti fixed
  15. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) Guys let's just keep it civil and focus on the game here. its hard to. SH1980 wont stop talking about cheerleaders
  16. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:44 PM) This from someone who said that the people posting negative things about the Sox want them to lose. which was mocking you and tito
  17. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:41 PM) Do you think for a second than any of the fans saying bad things about this team actually don't want them to win? If you do, then you are lost in your own anger at anyone who dares to say anything negative. We all want the Sox to win. We don't just close our eyes and cheerlead. You have done this multiple times, you are just a broadbrush-er to the extreme
  18. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) Wrong again, it has nothing to do with WANTING the team to win or lose, it's about being able to understand when a team is struggling, and when a team is clicking. I don't want the team to lose at all, that would go against everything I've put into this team. I just can't STAND to see them do this bad, period. They are so much better than they are playing right now, and it just strikes a nerve deep in me, which causes me to spew random s*** that isn't wholly true. Ok, that I can completely understand and appreciate. Im as frustrated as the next guy
  19. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) Right back at ya, friend. Your point is always obvious. Kick them when they are down, never hope for the best, if you cheer, you are a cheerleader.
  20. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) Bingo. Right, and if you want the team to win, you are a blind homer. And if you want the team to lose, you are a "realistic" fan.
  21. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) What you need is irrelevant. This board is for talking about the Sox. When so many of us see bad things and predict more bad things for the Sox, we're going to call it like we see it. This place would be exceptionally boring if the posts were all, "Go Sox Go!" "We're Great!" "The Sox are going to win it all!" Cheerleading is for 16 year old girls. Once again, missing the point.
  22. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) The criticism of this team is well earned. I don't know how any fan can be optimistic about the rest of this season given how this team has played and how it has been managed. We all WANT the Sox to get to the playoffs. But if you follow the team and actually watch the games, I don't see how one can actually think it is going to happen. I didnt realize I needed all of my fellow Sox fans to rub it in my nose as well? See, you always flip around "Dont trash the Sox" with "Gee, the Sox are AWESOME!". I can see the problems, but I dont enjoy trashing the Sox and hoping bad things will happen to the team and that the manager gets fired. That sounds like a Cubs fan.
  23. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) It will stop as soon as this team stops playing horrible baseball, shows no fire, has horrible pitching with an inept manager. somehow, I doubt that
  24. QUOTE(jenksd @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) Joe Crede is absolutely perfect. ...so said SuperAgent Boras, with a twinkle in his eye
  25. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) Corpseball at it's finest! ok, the over the top pessimist bull needs to stop.
