QUOTE (The Critic @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 08:52 AM) Jay can't stand when anyone points out the s*** he pulls, so he does that passive/aggressive thing as a defense mechanism. I have seen some of the shots they have taken at each other in the last couple of years, but I havent seen Jay refer to him as a failing tribune columnist before.

College Student Sections/Laker Nation
Kyyle23 replied to SoxFan1's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Back when I was at SIU and Bruce Weber had just taken over the program, he was more than happy to get involved in getting the Dawg Pound involved. I emailed him one day, and the next day someone from his office called me and we had Dawg pound shirts getting made which he gave to me to give out to our student section. He also supplied those long balloons for us to wave behind the basket, and at the end of the season he hooked the entire section up with free 3 day passes to the MVC tournament with a coupon book full of hotel coupons and restaraunt coupons in the STL area. I would try and get your coaches involved and see if they have any ideas. We did alot of the normal crap(spirit fingers at free throws, turning our backs or reading the college newspaper during the other teams introductions) as well as a couple of unique cheers(some nice, some not so nice). Basically the idea is to have a great time. If you have a group of people in a small area that really care for the team, it just starts to snowball. When I was going to games, it was free for students because the team really stunk and they couldnt get anyone in the door. Now you cant get in the dawgpound because it fills up QUICK. Be loud, be obvious, have a good time. And drinking a few before the game never hurts -
squuuuuuaaaaaaash there is no way Warrior signs up for that without being told he is gonna win it

QUOTE (max power @ Apr 19, 2008 -> 03:35 AM) How was pablo at third? In the first inning he screwed up on a groundball by Iwamura, and he also screwed up on the botched run-down play in the second inning, he threw the ball too quickly and followed the runner, so 3rd base was unoccupied so Longoria ran back to third and was safe. After that I cannot recall too many chances for him

Its funny that he can poke fun at himself

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) Why the hell did Lucas take his helmet off when trying to make that catch????? I have no fu**ing idea. And the entire school applauds him for catching the ball and fumbling it away to their rival. It makes no sense whatsover
-
I was flipping through channels after the game tonite and I started to watch the movie "Lucas" for the first time since I was in high school. Quite the cast, I didnt realize when i was watching when I was younger. Wynona Ryder, Jeremy Piven, Charlie Sheen, Corey Haim, Courtney Thorne Smith. Sometimes I just love watching 80's movies

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 11:38 AM) Just 7 days into his Major League service. What an odd, odd deal. I really don't get it from Longoria's standpoint, but it's a steal for the Rays, unless, of course, he sucks... but he should be having quite the career. link Well, they definitely avoid arbitration for a while
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 09:00 AM) typos really get jumped on on this board eh? yes, 9-6. Obviously. All in good fun, dont take it series-ly
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 08:08 AM) They've been oustanding thus far. You aren't going to hold every lead all season long. Yeah, 10-5 looks way better than 9-4, but we're still in first place, and the SP is looking quite solid. 9-6

Haha, Nick Saban is most ignorant

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 09:34 AM) Not sure that is going to do it for the O's. It is encouraging to see someone turn a Floyd trade idea down, though. Weeks back, many were willing to trade him for a bucket of balls. I like Floyd, and I have no problem giving him a chance to succeed or fail.
-
QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 09:14 AM) So, trade Floyd, Uribe and cash for Roberts after the game? No, yes and yes
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 17, 2008 -> 05:46 AM) Brian Roberts being the only attainable 2B of those two. He would add a ridiculous offensive oomph to the lineup. He has a high OBP and can take the extra base and steal some as well. He would effectively move Quentin and Crede down in the order and make them our two weakest hitters, which is ridiculous. And move Swisher to a more effective spot in the lineup for his talents.
