  1. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 09:33 AM) I agree for the most part, but alzheimers had destroyed him so badly (as it does to all of its victims), that this is a case for really celebrating his life and not being too depressed over the death. Even if he lived for another 10 years, we would never have seen th epoor guy on camera again. I knew that the last couple years of his life were pretty rough. I remember his cameo for the remake of Planet of the Apes was a big deal because he wasnt in such good condition at that time. Shortly afterwards he gave up his position at the NRA and he wasnt heard from much more
  2. I prefer to keep BA as the 4th OF right now. Much better defense off the bench, and if his ST numbers hold true to his development, the potential of a much better bat off the bench as well
  3. QUOTE(Kenny Hates Prospects @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 08:28 AM) Quentin, and I'd like for Anderson to sneak into a couple of games so that he can impress also. Just keep Owens off the team, because if he's on the team, Ozzie will no doubt start him in CF every day regardless of how poorly he performs. This is simply untrue

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 01:30 AM) That's exactly how I felt when it was over. All I knew was that Daniel Day-Lewis put in a f***ing great performance. That guy's the best actor going right now. DD Lewis always makes a brilliant film or puts in a brilliant performance on a decent film, then dissappears for long periods of time until he feels the need to act again. I watched "In The Name of the Father" and was blown away by his performance. It was heartbreaking
  5. Damn shame. Another one of the tough guy actors leaves the world. RIP

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 03:02 AM) Goign from Heinekin Leight to Busch blows. Swisher sweets and Busch beer. There is a heaven, and it is called College
  7. I dont think that Ozzie is as in love with Jerry Owens as it is made out to be. Ozzie had no problem sending Owens down last year when he came up the first time and sucked, and to Jerry's credit, he came back and was a contributor to the solution rather than the problem. Plus, Jerry spent a good portion of spring training with injury problems to his legs, which really hurts his chances of ousting someone from their roster spot. I think we are going to see one of Ozzie's patented Sunday lineups today, and BA is going to be a part of it. Thome and Dye have both played every game so far, and Ozzie likes to rotate the old fella's in and out. Who knows, maybe Swisher goes to first and Konerko gets a rest. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3331744
  8. Hell Yeah Nuke the Chat Crew awaits your first appearance, and the subsequent talks of hoggin and drinkin
  9. The injuries to Zumaya and Rodney are pretty crucial for this team. Either one of those guys comes in to replace Willis today, and who knows if the Sox score more than 2 runs in that inning, much less 4. And Jermaine Dye is facing one of those two late in the game, not Francis Beltran. The offense will get its hits, and will probably hit a nice stride when the weather warms up and when Granderson comes back, but they are going to have a hard time keeping leads because of the lack of a bullpen stopper. And even when they can get to the closer, we are talking about Todd Jones here, not Mariano Rivera. A team can hang some runs on that guy. I think its gonna be a frustrating year for the Tigers.
  10. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 12:44 PM) I think Gavin goes 6 innings and gives up 2-3 runs, The Sox offense stays hot, and the sox win 6-4 I was close
  11. And so we ride the hot hand of Tito, the gamethread creator Floyd had a nice game, the bullpen gave a few scares but didnt break. Nice comeback after being no-hit for 6 innings with 6 walks
  12. I think Gavin goes 6 innings and gives up 2-3 runs, The Sox offense stays hot, and the sox win 6-4
  13. Having discussed this a few times recently, I have been thinking that it isnt really specific people, but rather the tone of the entire base of soxtalk members. I love coming here and reading opinions and arguments and stories and experiences, from the SLaM forum all the way up to Pale Hose Talk, I love the entire website. Its the first and last thing I read during the day, the speed of the flow of information through soxtalk rivals cnn.com sometimes. It just seems that a lot of resentment has built up throughout the site recently. Maybe it is because it is an election year, maybe its because the Sox had a severely subpar year last year, maybe it is just the evolution of the type of discussion that happens here, I dont know. To me it just seems like every post is baited, the people that used to really enjoy the site are unhappy, and people turn on each other far too quickly anymore. This post is not directed at any one person specifically. I am probably just as guilty as any one else of anything I mentioned. to answer your question, I am here because I view coming to this site as meeting a great bunch of friends, some of whom really get along, others not so much.
  14. Big Show is going to annihilate Khali. He is so much more athletic and mobile, he should dance circles around Khali. Botchtista performed a completely horrid promo with HBK, and looked like a gay porn star at the same time.

  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) 'Bout time to see if opening day was a fluke for Nick. Whats your sig going to change into, Fay + Mullins > You? Dillard + Mullins > You?
  18. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 01:04 PM) I'm sorry, was that catch made at second base or something? Playing great shortstop defensively does not equal playing great defense at any other infield position. Why don't we ask Alex Rodriguez how easy it is to transition from shortstop to another infield position? How the hell this organization got into this position is beyond me. A streaky .230ish hitter with SOME pop playing out of position is a liability in almost every respect compared to many other alternatives. http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/rodrial01.shtml He actually averaged about the same amount of errors that he made at SS, except for his worst year, 2006. But every other year is about the same
  19. Come on Jose, use your friggin junk against that guy.
  20. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 4, 2008 -> 12:37 PM) the guy has serious power...a while back i posted a thread that had some links to some of his HR while he was in arizona and they were all just absolute bombs...shots that woulda been half way up to the concourse at the cell I remember that video. he does have serious power, you just dont realize it until you see him do it
  21. i was making lunch when Quentin hit that. I could tell by the sound of the bat that he jacked that, but it looked like he hit it straight up and it carried. Holy sh*t did he hit that hard
