  1. QUOTE(PlunketChris @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 12:25 PM) how's this? That is freaking brilliant is what that is. That is gonna be my avatar as soon as I can get home and put it there
  2. I think i am the last person on the planet without a cell phone. And you know what? I really dont mind. My job requires me to be on the phone all the time anyways, I dont need to be on it any more. I have voicemail at home, i will get back to you, i promise.
  3. Does Miggy look like he is in the best shape of his life, as Ozzie said over the offseason?
  4. QUOTE(lostfan @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 09:30 AM) In 2002 he probably would've gotten a standing ovation. In the 01 World Series didnt he get a huge ovation throwing out the first pitch at Yankee Stadium?
  5. With this new season, someone needs to create a Steve Stone talking head icon in the same vein as the Hawk "He Gawn" and DJ "Uh-Oh" icons. Maybe it should say "Because Steve Stone Said So" It is a must.
  6. QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 08:16 AM) Vince making sure the Orlando crowd was HOT at WrestleMania. ....too soon?.... Meh, nobody died so you get a pass
  7. Fireworks from Wrestlemania fall into the crowd, injure 40 people
  8. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 10:04 PM) Kind of a boring WM. The first half of the ME was way too slow. The Raw ME was great. I knew Orton was retaining after it wasn't going to be the Main Event. Yeah i couldnt disagree more. I loved the MITB match, Flair/HBK was amazing, Edge/Undertaker had my attention the entire time, The Triple Threat match was fun. The only thing I didnt like was Kane squashing Chavo. that looked like to me that Chavo got suspended for something and had to drop the belt.
  9. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 04:23 PM) 1. Brian, you replied to the wrong post. 2. Milkman, I don't know what the thread is, but I imagine it's there, or you can ask a moderator. I don't have much else on the subject or any further knowledge. LCR has no profile anymore, so thats pretty much proof enough
  10. If it rains during Mania, do you think there is any sort of contingency plan?
  11. Any pre-Mania predictions? Mayweather in the 5th, KO
  12. Rick Morissey wrote a good column about cutting through the Cubs crap this year and the possibility of the Sox surprising some people http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...,5398318.column
  13. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 03:56 PM) Are you saying they're the same person?
  14. QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 08:49 AM) OLD MAN??? HOW DARE YOU!!! It's true that "my time" was the late 70's and early 80's, but probably my favorite era of wrestling was the Monday Night Wars into the ECW and "Attitude" era. There was just so many fun angles, a lot of guys getting to show their personality and humorous side, and just a lot of variety and competition between three very different companies with very different approaches. Back in the old AWA/NWA/WWWF days, almost all of the main eventers were really solid technical guys. Verne Gagne, Nick Bockwinkel, Billy Robinson, Bob Backlund, Pedro Morales, Dory and Terry Funk, Jack and Jerry Brisco, Harley Race, Pat O'Connor and many many more. In those days nobody scoured Muscle Beach for performers, they almost always came from the amateur wrestling ranks. The downside of that is many of them didn't have the mic skills or flashiness most guys had and have since. Thus the need for aging wrestlers who could talk well to become managers. I think Flair's career would be enhanced by becoming a heel manager, and it would help guys who can't work well on the mic. Flair talking so Batista and Orton don't have to??? Count me in!! I know Ric doesn't have to do anything after Sunday and his legacy is solid, but if he wants to stick around it would be great for the business to keep him in a prominent role. I haven't seen LCR around here for quite some time. That surprises me, especially in an election year. He must be too busy with his personal or school schedules. havent seen much of Aboz either recently
  15. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 05:35 PM) I dated a girl that literally had to put on makeup to take the dog for a walk, there was makeup all over my condo. My gf now can roll out of bed and look amazing to me. IMO, the hottest girls are ones that look just as good out for dinner than in a jersey tailgating for the game. Of course, now we all need photographic proof of her rolling out of bed now. Hi-res pics please.
  16. LOL, Jay is catching a lot of flak for asking to have the comments section removed from his online column. Apparently he didnt appreciate the comments on his writing. Teddy Greenstein wrote about it: The guy just loves to rip people and hates to be ripped on. The comments in Couchs column are humorous
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 09:43 AM) The View: Hasselbeck Equates Rev. Jeremiah Wright with Jeffrey Dahmer Elizabeth Hasselbeck has to be the prettiest dipsh*t in the world. Every time she opens her mouth on that show something stupid comes out. I still think it was funny when her and Rosie got into that argument, when the next guest Alicia Silverstone came out, she completely and obviously walked around and away from EH ang gave everyone else a hug
  18. Im going to remain my usual optimistic self and say the Sox go 92-70 and surprise everyone. Slam me if you please, I dont really care to argue, I just would rather hope that they are going to do well than dwell on thinking that they are gonna suck. I have a similar feeling to this year that i had in 2005, i dont know whats going to happen, but I dont have a sinking feeling about the season like I did last year.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 05:18 PM) I have read the riftwar saga as well, and I thought they were quite good. I thought Sethanon got a bit too heavy in its borrowing of Tolkienesque themes and how the ultimate evil could only be stopped by a couple of unlikely heroes, etc., but I liked them. I wont say that they are on the same level as Tolkien, because you are absolutely correct that there is some borrowed themes. my point was actually in regards to Fiest being able to create entire races/cultures/languages/politics within a book. If someone tried to conquer those books in the same manner that Peter Jackson did LotR, I think the movies would be phenomenal. JMO

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 12:04 PM) Agree completely on LOTR. The films were really good and all, but the books are among the best fiction the 20th century has to offer. I don't think anybody will ever be able to pull off what Tolkien did — creating not just entire worlds, geographies, histories, and mythologies, but actually going so far as to build entire functional languages based on his expertise as an ancient language academic scholar. I make a point of re-reading the books every few years and I'm always completely blown away by what he was able to accomplish. I actually feel the same way about Raymond Fiests Magician/Riftwar books. If you havent already, you should check them out. Starting with "Magician:Apprentice"

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 09:42 AM) Watched Tsotsi last night. Nice little flick about a thug in Johannesburg that discovers a baby in the back seat of the car he had stolen. Nice cinematography and an emotional story. Would recommend to anyone who doesn't mind subtitled films. Did I recommend that to you a few months ago? I put it on here as a recommendation and someone told me they were putting it on their netflix queue. It is a good movie, it makes you think about what happens in some of the less fortunate parts of the world.
  22. Report: Dolan prefers to keep Isaiah as Head Coach Zeke has pictures of Dolan. He has to.
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 27, 2008 -> 10:07 AM) I am agreeing with you, and questioning Steve... "I see", said the blind man.....
  24. I had a buddy wake up one night, open his 3 disc cd player, spit in the carousel, close it, press play, and go back to sleep. He also opened the door to the hall and threw up in the hall as opposed to opening the next door which was the bathroom. That was a special day. Schneider Hall floor 7 smelled so bad.
