QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 11:54 AM) I clicked on the link and got a video of a polar bear swimming. the video is in that link, next to the bear video. I got the Bear swimming too -
QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 12:19 PM) i know im in the vast minority, but i love joe morgan...he has a way better baseball mind than alot of people give him credit for...everyone says hes stupid...hes not at all...perhaps hes not entirely educated about the players in the game today, but he is plenty educated about the actual game play...plus i get the sense that the guy truly enjoys a good baseball game, and has a deep appreciation for the subtleties that exist in each and every game...and i personally think he communicates that very well....i feel if there is every a trick on a good pick off move from a pitcher, or a mechanical flaw with a base runner, he picks up on it and lets his audience know.....hes a throwback type guy, which is what i love with announcers (why i like hawk and harry callis and vin scully) you just hear alot about ERAs of baseball that you dont hear about many other places... not to mention goddamn that guy had one hell of a swing Its hard to agree with that after watching him campaign for Carlos Guillen, gold glover last night. He kept saying that what Guillen was doing was right, but Guillen set up for the throw more than once while standing in the first baseline. He was jogging to 1st, which Morgan said was good, but really isnt considering the other infielders are trying to hurry to get him the ball. Everything he complimented guillen on I thought was completely erroneous

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 11:47 AM) Tim Salmon. I know people compared him to Canseco and they look a like, but I also think his swing has a s***load of similarities to Salmon (I kept trying to figure it out the past few games and it finally hit me this morning). I see Tim Salmon a little bit in his swing. Salmon was much more focused on going the opposite way though, and he was a little more straight up in his approach, but they definitley look similar. If Quentin closed his stance just a bit they would look exactly alike

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 09:59 AM) Ozzie just loves utility players. aside from last year, ozzie has really gotten at least one utility player to over produce what was expected of him. in 2004 Juan Uribe went nuts, in 2005 he had Geoff blum and Willie Harris( you could even lump in Carl Everett and Pods here), in 2006 he had Pablo Ozuna. Last year he tried out Gonzalez, but it just didnt work.

Palestinians kill rare & endangered sea turtle
Kyyle23 replied to EvilMonkey's topic in The Filibuster
i used to visit fripp island south carolina, and they have active turtle breeding grounds. I believe the sign said trespassing onto the breeding grounds could result in jailtime and up to a 250,000 fine. I couldnt even watch the video, them dragging that thing out of the water made me feel pretty bad. Such an old creature, probably on its way to a breeding ground -
You gotta give ozzie a little respect for at least reading and acknowledging these emails, regardless of their content. Do all other managers provide their emails address to fans?

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 04:02 PM) LMAO! Great example! QUOTE(palehose23 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 02:42 PM) I am not saying anybody has said this yet but please lets not say that Jerry Owens is the new Wally Pipp. Wally Pipp was a two time HR champ and a pretty good hitter at the end of his career when the Iron horse replaced him. Jerry Owens is a... damn I don't know, an average 4A player. Thanks and lets keep this lineup together forever like Rick Astley Too many out of date references, brain....shutting.........down

QUOTE(lostfan @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) that and some of them are such draconian Goderators, I couldn't stand it anymore. This site is sooo much better and I'm actually allowed to have the occasional disagreement/mild argument with another poster without getting banned. I've been kind of resisting the urge to say that on here for a while. its a very common complaint about WSI. They obviously dont really care though, because things havent changed, the complaint remains the same

Would today be a good day to start Brian Anderson?

QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 01:54 PM) Jesus Christ, it's 5 going on 6 games into the season. By the way you are talking, you'd think they haven't had a day off in 20 days. So Jim Thome going on the 15 day DL last year on April 27th because of a strained ribcage has no relevance to the conversation? http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...i-sportstop-hed -

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 01:25 PM) That's quite the praise for a player who can barely break a big league line up. I'm confident most teams would choose dozens of CF's before they would even consider Brian Anderson...lol...and most of them would take players like Chris Young b4 anderson too. Did I say anything about choosing other centerfielders over BA? You say he has a good arm, and thats about it. Sorry, his defense is very highly rated, he saves runs in the outfield, that in itself makes him valuable to other GMs, most likely in a platoon/defensive replacement role until he proves he cannot hit. -

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 01:15 PM) Whaaaa?!!! Did you forget about 2006? Anderson could barely hit above .200! he's got a nice arm but that's about it. And the fact that he is one of the best defensive centerfielders in the game is nothing to shake a stick at either? -

Buehrle (0-0) vs. Verlander (0-0)- KEEP IT UP!!

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 11:22 AM) Career vs Verlander: 7-18, 5 HR, 6 BB, 4 K That's a line of .389/.542/1.222/1.764 Didnt Thome hit the first fastball that Verlander threw him out of the park? I swear in his first at bat, everyone was buzzing about Verlanders velocity and Thome turned it around immediately -
right now its just a matter of getting to their pen. The Tigers are going to have to come out slugging until their starting pitching picks up, and that just isnt happening right now. The Sox hitters realized that getting into the bullpen is the way to go, and they did it right from the get-go in the series. Once again, im glad the Sox dont face Rogers this series.

QUOTE(shipps @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 09:42 AM) Its not a gripe. Its a concern for future fly balls that he is not going to get to because his ass and face are pointing the same direction. Rowand always had his ass and face pointing in the wrong direction, and so does Jim Edmonds. I could care less about the graceful run to the ball as long as he does indeed run to the ball

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 09:45 AM) However, he's already had a ton of opportunities, and he's been right where he's been needed each and everytime. He's easily as good a CF'er as the overrated Aaron Rowand out there. He also blows Jerry Owens away. The only better OF'er we have defensively is Brian Anderson, and he'll never get another shot anyway. Carlos Quentin truly looks legit. Does anyone else think he looks ridiculously similar to Jose Canseco at times? His batting stance is a dead ringer, and when he's in the outfield with the shades on, my God the similarities are just too many! It is uncanny. And he looks to have that same sort of unreal power, except it looks to be legit, and not pharmaceutical. I just hope he doesnt end up with the same sort of back problems that Canseco ended up with because of his corkscrew swing.

QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 09:34 AM) I said the same thing when I saw Swisher keep his eye on a ball yesterday that was hit out to the warning track in CF. Like you said, a good CF, right after contact, puts their head down and runs to the spot, then looks up to find the ball and then catch it. he caught it, Thats all I am concerned about right now. Such a petty thing to gripe about, whether he put his head down or not, sometimes outfielders lose the ball when they put their head down and run to the spot they think the ball is going to.
