  1. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 08:36 PM) Hey, it's only 23 runs, lets shut down these next two guys. Yep, its only 3 runs
  2. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 06:54 PM) I thought that got postponed! Damn games, always screwing with the purity of the game. i know, right? MLB should just give the players off for the entire week leading up to the trading deadline, and fill the entire week up with nothing but conjecture and trade rumors. QUOTE(spiderman @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 06:57 PM) ESPN was orginally reporting that Brandon McCarthy was involved - obviously, that turned out to wrong as Kenny Williams denied that McCarthy would be traded. Saying that, I wonder if ESPN jumped on this story without having their facts straight, and all of the other news organizations, including our 2 local sports stations just jumped on the national story. What say you ? Its the dog chasing the cat chasing the mouse chasing the flea chasing the dog
  3. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 06:48 PM) After all the initial excitement this sure is slowing down i think the impending game with the Twins is drawing some attention away
  4. Hmmm, I dont know about mcCarthy for Soriano and bringing Macdougal in to replace McCarthy. hasnt macdougal spent a large part of his career on the DL?
  5. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 09:51 AM) Yeah, that's where I was going with my comment. I've never heard of him stepping up to any of "the boys", he seems to enjoy harassing the women in the company, that's where he gets in trouble with Vince (along with such other hard-core offenses as wardrobe violations). Well, his whole schtick is being the "Legend killer" bothering all of the "Legends" of the company, so at least he isnt Mark Henry squashing cruiserweights week in week out. The strange thing about Orton is that I feel he could be good, he is one hell of an athletic wrestler, and he can generate a lot of heat, but the guy is obviously and overwhelmingly in love with himself and that just shines through.
  6. Hangar, you need to enter yourself into a Sox-fan Correctional/rehabilitational facility that can teach you how to deal with the trials and tribulations of being an everyday sox fan. You can learn various stress relief techniques as: 1. Forgetting about worthless games that happened 3 years ago 2. Comprehending and understanding News media articles 3. Forgetting about worthless games that happened 16 years ago 4. recognizing post-worthy material in Pale Hose Talk vs post-worthy material(which is still debatable) in The Diamond Club. And the funny thing is, I remember the games you are referring to. Both of them. i believe that Texas started playing the song "The Night Chicago died" the next game or series vs the Sox, until MLB stepped in and told them to stop. And wasnt the Colon game the coming out party for Zambrano? I know those two faced each other at least once during the 2 crosstown series. Either way, when i read the title of this thread, I thought it was about games this year that made me mad. At which point I would have to say the first series against the Royals when the Royals took 2 of 3 after the Sox dropped 2 of 3 to the Indians. The Sox had no business losing any of those games
  7. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) He's a man, such a man He's a real, real man's man He's a man, such a man He's a real, real, real, real man's man He's a real, real, real, real man's man He's a man, such a man He's a real, real man's man As bad as that song (and the ensuing feud with X-Pac) was, you gotta admire a guy who embarassed the hell out of Goldberg. Do you mind rehashing that? I dont remember that match
  8. http://rajah.com/base/node/5959 What the hell causes that?
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 12:31 AM) I am wearing my new shirt tomorrow. Luck of the Irish and all. Its got to help. Get the silk screen press rolling, SSI71, this Irish laddie needs one of those shirts. Did you really make a shirt like that?
  10. No, this lead is insurmountable. The Sox should give up now and have a White Flag sale in preparation of 2008.
  11. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 03:47 AM) Coal Miner's Glove on a Pole! Almost as good as the "Lost in Cleveland" Cactus Jack vignettes. A telling tale of how WCW could have seized a great opportunity (the powerbomb on the cement) yet dropped a major deuce. Almost as funny as when they made Paul Roma a member of the Horsemen. And perhaps the Junkyard Invitational from WCW could make an appearance here as well. Real old school: AWA Turkey on a Pole match. If we're talking bad matches from a kayfabe-break standpoint, there's the old Earthquake vs Kitao Koji when Koji broke kayfabe, got on a mic and started yelling about how everything in puroesu is staged. Or Inoki vs the Great Antonio when Inoki legit starts beating the spiff out of Antonio for no-selling/legit hitting Inoki with a forearm to the back of the head instead of the spine. And for the saving of ECW, Gregory...It isn't going to be Heyman's booking or Vince bringing back the classical ECW we all remember. It is pragmatism during the "Extreme Rules" match. They need to bring it up a notch when they go for the supposed extreme. To that effect, they need to use a certain weapon on TV. It is a weapon so potent that it was only used sparingly in one wrestling promotion. It was a weapon that brought out fear and unspeakable awe from the audience. This weapon must also be suspended on a pole because of its sheer immense power and has been in the past. This weapon...Judy Bagwell. I think this would only be possible if Buff Bagwell was brought in, and that guy admired himself right out of the WWE. I would say Norman Smiley is needed as well, but last I heard he was someones whipping boy in TNA.
  12. I miss having a Cherry Lime-aid (with extra cherries) from Sonic. Nothing could beat that on a hot day for me. When i worked delivery, i used to drink that stuff by the gallons. Thier burgers are good, but the lettuce they use is just too wet, it sogs the bun. Yuck
  13. I have a buddy who makes me think i am a complete novice when it comes to wrestling "history", and he thought was Russo attempted to do with WCW was awesome. We got into a big discussion about it one day and I started out by saying when Russo showed up all of the bigtime wrestlers of the promotion started dissapearing off of television and I hated it because it was no fun to watch anymore. Then he starts telling me about how the backstage political scene got so bad that Russo finally snapped and told the whole NWO/Wolfpac/hollywood hogan crew to take their spiff and leave if they thought they were going to run things. And most of this anger stemmed from the match where Russo put hogan against jarrett to take the strap off of hogan. Hogan literally laid on the mat and jarrett put his foot on hogan and jarrett officially became part of "the crew". then Russo got on the mic and told the whole crowd that they would never again see Hogan, Nash, Hall, Steiner, or any of those guys on WCW tv again because he was sick of them ruining what could potentially be a good program and burying all of the other wrestlers. I remembered watching that show and wondering what the hell Russo was talking about, but after my friend provided a lot of info that I wasnt aware of, things that i watched towards the end of WCW made more sense. It was an interesting conversation between me and my buddy, to say the least.
  14. QUOTE(Misplaced_Sox @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:06 PM) Please if BA was in center that Bloop is a catch.... and Mack with the piss poor throw to 3rd... gimmie a break... yep, and if Crede hit that last pitch better, he would have hit a homerun, and if Pods knew how to bunt, he would have 3 bunt hits by now, and if I had wings, I would fly. The alternatives are allllllways so much better
  15. I guess Javy will = teh suck tonite. The guy has a complex about the 6th inning. Its just sad anymore. BMac can do so much better than this
  16. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) Few news and notes. 2. Ken Kennedy is going to be fed to Deacon Dave Batista at GAB. I love Ken Kennedy. i hope he pulls off some sort of upset, but it is highly doubtful. He is one hell of an athletic wrestler though, and his intro bit is hilarious
  17. QUOTE(Bonderman38 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 08:55 PM) Great game by the Sox. Looks like I may be off this board for a week.. I thought that "eat s***" era was supposed to be going away.. And thats a Hell No!
  18. Garland was amazing tonite. He had command of all of his pitches and I swear I saw him hit 94 a couple of times(wether or not the WCIU gun is correct or not), and he never sweated the base runners. I have to admit, I was shocked at Brandon Inges BA and I was surprised that Shelton hasnt hit 20 HR yet with his hot start.
  19. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) :headshake Seriously great game... Garland was amazing... but this phrase needs to die a quick threat... It makes people think your like 12... :banghead quit whining about it, ignore it if you dont like it.
  20. QUOTE(bmags @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) kyyle, if you want man, i could always make you some compilations of stuff and bands you like i can use upload sites like yousendit and others to get the full albums to you If you feel funky, feel free. Let me know where to point and click, and I will do it
  21. QUOTE(bmags @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) sounds like your just getting older to me. new music sucks anyways. Oh I hate you for that
  22. QUOTE(loltrain @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) Rogers v Contreras is no contest? Uhh, Rogers and Contreras have been equally horrible the last month, if anything that's the crappiest pitching match up of the series. I find it funny that every White Sox fan thinks the Tigers are playing 100% and can't possibly do better, but even though almost everyone in your lineup is having a career year the Sox haven't "clicked yet" or "aren't playing their best ball" Both teams have been playing great, and their is no need to make excuses at this point. ehh, I think Contreras gives us the best chance to win every time he goes out right now. he may be struggling, but he has still been far better than the rest of the staff even with his struggles.
  23. I think I have been trapped in a transitional phase of music in my life. I really like classic rock, I have put Zeppelin, T Rex, The Cars, ELO, Dylan, Rolling Stones, The Eagles, Eric Clapton, Jethro tull, Peter Gabriel, and Pink floyd on my Ipod recently, and i also have my wide array of 90's-2000's rock/rap/jazz on my ipod as well. But nothing new strikes me anymore. I think the radio stations of Chicago have totally deprogrammed me and are forcing me to think outside of the box for new music, but I dont have the time(or the inclination) to research music I would like, so I have stuck to what I really really like(Failure, Brand New, 311, Blinker the Star, etc.) instead of seeking out new music. Its a really strange phase for me, I used to be "that guy" at our college parties who would break out anything and everything you never knew about and blast it.
  24. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 10:57 AM) Here's the question we're all answering without actually saying so: We've been willing to take chances on guys with rumored behavior issues before. Is there a line we're not willing to cross in terms of bad behavior? Wil Cordero, Carl Everett, Roberto Alomar, Jose Paniagua, anyone? Hopefully the Sox are turning over a new leaf in terms of bringing in players with attitude problems, but I would have to say that line has been repeatedly crossed by the Sox. However, bringing in brett myers so soon after this incident is ludicrous, its a lightning rod for criticism. Myers would have to be an ace to survive the media onslaught, and I dont think he is that good.
