http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/spring2008/n...tory?id=3307800 Is he worth taking a flyer on? Came from the Aaron Rowand school of Grindy-ish Things(i think they were college teammates, IIRC), pretty similar player except more of a corner OF. Always was tough on the Sox, but then again, bringing in guys who are always tough on the Sox doesnt always work out(cough, erstad, cough).

All three candidates had their passport info looked into

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 10:12 AM) Green just takes away some of the fun. If you see green text, you know from the get-go that what you're reading is not serious, which takes away the surprise. I'll use green sometimes, but if it's off-the-wall ludicrous, like this, I assume people will understand. But, yes, it was sarcastic. Now, his frequent afternoon teas with bin Laden, on the other hand... I enjoy the immediate indignant reaction to obvious sarcasm though, sometimes its worth it. Kalapse is very good at that. -
QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 09:56 AM) We'd be better off DFA'ing both Crede and Uribe by the beginning of the year then actually having them take away AB's from Fields and Ramirez. That brilliant. We would be much better off telling KW to eat 10 million dollars with no return

Tough way to lose for Drake, they hung it all out there

Official 2008-2009 NFL Thread

All of the malcontents want to play in Dallas now. Ocho Cinco is trying to get himself traded there too. -
QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 11:36 PM) I aim for the soap thing in the urinal LOL, me too. I was looking for that option. deflects the stream, and covers up the smell

QUOTE(kjshoe04 @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 11:46 PM) SIU down 5 at the half, 28-23. Im surprised they are that close. The team is a shell of itself right now, with Boyle, Mullins, and even Brandon Wood out, the Salukis are severely undermanned right now. They are going to have to start hitting some of the bunnies they are missing if they want a shot at an upset

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 9, 2008 -> 02:13 PM) Looks like the Steelers best defensive player last year James Harrison could be cut after being arrested and admitting to assault on his girlfriend. Good riddance. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 9, 2008 -> 02:17 PM) You think the Steelers will cut him? I doubt that QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 9, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) Rooney's have always stood firmly to morals. This woman abuse has become a major problem on this team as well. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3302774 I dont understand how the circumstances surrounding the situation dictate these completely different reactions. If the Steelers do not condone violence of any kind against women, why is it ok for Harrison because the reason is that they were arguing over baptizing their son? If Wilson suckerpunched his girlfriend because she didnt want to go to church on easter sunday, would that mean that wilson would remain on the team? Seems pretty hypocritical to me. -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 12:50 PM) Ha. Lets just say running in sandles in an ice storm = giant gash through your forehead. Of course it was the Ice Storms fault. I totally agree with you.

Kenny, the Dodgers are calling on line 1...

QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 20, 2008 -> 03:38 AM) Nomar could swing bat by weekend Dodgers liken microfracture in right wrist to bad bruise This is Nomar we are talking about here. The microfracture will soon lead to gangrene, and then Nomar will be out for the next two months. Who knows, this could soon turn into Gout, and then it could lead to a broken leg or dislocated neck. Dont discount anything when Nomar is involved -
QUOTE(jenks45monster @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 07:02 PM) He's AZ. I don't know about any of this Uribe stuff. It's just what he told me.

Pods Returns, Let the Celebration Begin!

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 05:49 PM) I'm sure no one will mention it, but Anderson's speed and hustle kept this 8th inning going. I agree on the play at home. But I thought he should have scored on Pods arm -

I know there are a lot of Hawk haters, but hearing him call that Thome bomb made me smile. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 05:49 PM) Thome hits them in bunches. I would hope he would stop hitting them now for about 11 days. you would hope that he would stop? -
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 02:45 PM) I don't like him, but getting rid of him for nothing is stupid. Now to appease Kyyle's call for blood. Unless he injured half the team running to the buffet table for the snacks and cakes call. LOL, thanks for that. The only reason I could see the Sox cutting him loose is Uribe being disgruntled with his move to 2B, and the ascension of Ramirez (and even Richar).

oh boy I cant wait for SSI71's snacks and cakes post

QUOTE(iamshack @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 01:15 PM) You cannot honestly argue their springs against one another. That's just not fair, considering Joe's coming back from injury. Secondly, it's not exactly a David vs. Goliath comparison. Fields is hitting .242 to Crede's .135. well, .100 points in the batting average is a lot
-
QUOTE(iamshack @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) Ok, so I just wasted several minutes of my life reading through this entire s***storm. This thread is like every negative poster on Soxtalk's wet dream. Why is it that some people actually enjoy when the organization does something they disagree with so they have a chance to tell everyone else how much smarter they are than the general manager? As much as all the pro-Fields people want to poke fun at "Crede's Crew," and facetiously compare Joe to Brooks Robinson, one would think Josh Fields was David Wright or Ryan Braun. The world will not end if Josh has to go to Charlotte for a few hundred ab's, guys. Just like the world will not end if Joe is traded to SF or LAD. But wow, why do some of you even watch the team or read the newspaper if it makes you so damned miserable? Some of you are incredibly-gifted whiners. pfft you are no fun

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 12:22 PM) Everything was nuts last night, Grand, Park, Wall and even 13 were all closed off for a while. Of course my friends and I are dumb asses and had to adventure around the whole damn city in shorts and were pretty much swimming in this stuff. Like you said, I'm not really sure what's up with the drainage here but it's awful, still last night is the worst I've seen it. Between this and the absolutely crazy ice storms last month(I got a big scar across my forehead for the rest of my life thanks to those), the weather has just been insane here and it sure doesn't help that people in Southern Illinois just don't know how to deal with bad weather. Completely and utterly useless with bad weather. I would always laugh when it snowed or we got ice storms because you could guarantee at least 3 cars in the ditch on the way to school or work. They teach "slam on the brake or gas when roads are icy" at southern illinois DMVs, I am sure of it.
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 02:04 AM) Carbondale is literally under water right now. Absolutely nuts. Spring is pretty crazy in Southern Illinois. Lots of ice storms melting into thunderstorms and back and forth, lots of water with nowhere for it to go. They dont quite have the drainage thing figured out yet, which is weird considering all of the man-made lakes in the area. go take a look at the Kincaid Lake spillway right now, I bet you it looks like Niagara falls
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 01:24 AM) That game just pissed me off more about this season. The team has been jekyll and hyde all season, last night was no different.

More Speculation About the Starting CF Job
Kyyle23 replied to JohnCangelosi's topic in Pale Hose Talk
White Sox Spring Training Competition for CF 2 men enter, 1 man leaves(to the bench) If JO keeps dropping balls and BA keeps hitting them, it isnt gonna be a choice. I think I will wait until the season starts before i get upset about the starting lineup -
QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Mar 18, 2008 -> 10:04 AM) Johan played infield in Venezuela. He tried to imitate his father who was right handed and later found out he was left handed. Link Haha! Knew I wasnt crazy!
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 17, 2008 -> 11:08 PM) Did he change his throwing hand? You don't see lefty-throwing infielders outside of 1b. Yeah, i dont know what I was thinking when I typed that, he was a centerfielder, not an infielder

QUOTE(Reddy @ Mar 17, 2008 -> 01:08 PM) wasnt this on saturday? March 15th is considered the Ides of March. It doesnt mean much of anything, except that it is the middle of march
