  1. Does anyone believe that a postseason ban is forthcoming? If it was, would this happen next year or this year?
  2. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 10:42 AM) Or normal New Yorkers. Not a bunch of childish guys. I've enjoyed New York style. In fact, the best pie down here is a NY style. Actually just a little bit thicker, but stil you can fold it over. But I'll pass over it in a second for a Lou's deep dish. Oh yeah, they were clearly playing up their roles as tough new yorkers and being jerks about it. In Chicago, they had one firefighter who said he liked the New York style better, at least he had the balls to admit it. Admittedly Im not much of a deep dish fan, i really like thin style pizza. But that doesnt mean I wont eat it, I have a craving for Lous every once in a while. And the great thing is that I have a Lou's 3 blocks from my house on the corner of Roselle and Schaumburg road.
  3. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 10:35 AM) That show sucked. I don't care if you have crappy taste and don't like something, but those guys were the stereotypical New York assholes. The Chicago guys showed the class that is Chicago. I thought the show was awesome until the end when the taste-testers showed up. I thought the history behind the brands in each city was really interesting, especially all the different naming rights issues and stolen crust recipes. But once those firefighters sat down, the show certainly did suck. What they needed to do was find some completely neutral participants and test it that way. I dont know, maybe some guys in Idaho or Washington or somewhere that those types of pizza arent readily available
  4. Does Kimbo have a future in regulated fights? I have watched a lot of his internet backyard fights, and he overmatched everyone I saw him fight except for the Cop, but then again he is fighting complete amateurs. Tank Abbott is no amateur per se, but he obviously doesnt take fighting as seriously as many of the other fighters considering his weight and overall general fitness. Is Kimbo just going to be a sideshow looking for tomato cans?
  5. QUOTE(BearSox @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 09:40 AM) well, Wii's gonna have some competition soon. Appareantly Sony is going to turn the ps2 into a similar machine like the Wii and have a similar controller. Why would they bother going back to PS2 for that? Why wouldnt they work that into PS3 if they feel they need to compete with the motion sensor control aspect of the Wii? And I seriously doubt Nintendo is worried about competition, they are in their own little world with the DS and Wii now
  6. QUOTE(yoyozuna @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 08:44 AM) All I keep hearing is how PECOTA was dead on last year? Does anybody know what they predicted our record to be in 2005 and 2006? Also what did they predict for team like the Rockies or Brewers last year? Im pretty sure they had the Sox struggling in 2005
  7. "Pizza Wars - Chicago vs New York" was on the travel channel last week, and at the end of the show they lined up firefighters from a New York firehouse and a CHicago firehouse to eat Pizza from the other side. The New Yorkers were just plain ignorant, most of them wouldnt even try the pizza because they couldnt bend it in half and shove it down their throats. Just the idea of using a fork and a knife was offensive to them. At least all of the Chicago firefighters tried the pizza.
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 17, 2008 -> 06:06 AM) Lol nobody know when their shipments arrive.... and you never know how much your going to get either. Its crazy how high the demand for that machine still is. Circuit City on Meacham and Golf rd knew, two weeks ago I was in the store and the guy at the tech coutner told me the following thursday they were going to get a shipment(which they did), but you are right they didnt know how many they were going to get. and they also said to pay close attention to the weekly flyers too, supposedly they will say when Wii's are available. It is crazy how much that system is still in demand. I was sure that it would be the PS3's that nobody could find and the Wii's were going to be ready for you when you walked into the store.
  9. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 08:33 PM) Bryan Mullins. 1 game out of 2nd. Jesus christ. I couldnt believe that Creighton got spanked by Bradley that bad. Outside of Drake and Ill St, there is really no good road team in the MVC
  10. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 11:50 AM) Leftwich worth a look at all? Doubtful, if he couldnt start over Joey Harrington i dont know if I want him getting a shot with the Bears. His practice/preperation habits are supposed to be less than spectacular
  11. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 16, 2008 -> 09:23 AM) anyone know where I can get a Wii? I go in gamestop and ask if they have any Wii's and they just give me a blank stare and "No". Im guessing they wont be readily available until late spring/early summer, other than that you just need to ask the stores when their shipment comes in and be at the store when it gets there.
  12. I agree about the Crumpler cut being puzzling, when that guy has a competent quarterback he is one of the best tight ends in the league. Too bad the Bears couldnt trade out Clark for Crumpler, probably cost prohibitive.
  13. I would love to see the conversation between Uribe and Guillen regarding Uribe losing his job. I wonder what Uribe's grievance would be. And Spring Training, YES!!!!
  14. Ok, I will be the shiny happy person for now. The Sox will make the playoffs and surprise many. Quentin and Swisher provide the spark that the Sox were looking for. Thome has a good season, and Ozzie rests him accordingly to keep the stress off of him the outfield competition is better than expected and Ozzie starts using the hot hand correctly, Swisher ends up being the starting centerfielder, but Owens sees plenty of time in defensive switches and late inning pinch running. Cabrera has a solid year, not spectacular, but gets the job done. Crede gets traded, Fields has a great offensive season in his replacement, but has an average year fielding. Pierzynski and Konerko hit closer to their career averages than last year Vazquez steps up as the team ace, Contreras wins 13, Buehrle 16-18 range, with Danks and Floyd winning 10 and 11 respectively. The bullpen is lockdown when healthy, but has a few health scares with Dotel. Jenks saves 40+ Flame on
  15. niu students report! (wsf101, this means you)
  16. You cannot count out the World Series runner-up Rockies either, I guess

I always loved the *snap* sound that they use for punches, kicks, and Indy's whip
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 02:58 PM) Aside from the Mets the Cubs have as good a chance at winning the world series as any team in the NL IMO. I agree, they definitely have a shot. However, i would not want to hear one of the White Sox players calling their shot like that.
  19. Would all of these coaches who snubbed IU 3 years ago snub them again, given the talent currently on the team, and the talent coming in(despite the talent leaving)? 3 years ago, IU was struggling, no?
  20. Werent all of these guys supposed to be traded for Brian Roberts? Now we see why they werent, they needed to get their stuff back It always blows me away when professional ballplayers steal. edit: I misread the story, I thought the thief was a player.
  21. QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 08:57 PM) SIU 2.3 secs away from knocking of Drake at the Arena. Of course Matt Shaw can't make a free throw to extend it to 4. SIU up 3. Justin should storm the floor if we win. Ha LOL, the one man courtstorming of 2008
  22. Ha, ESPN is saying that Devean George is blocking the Jason Kidd trade by evoking his no trade clause. LOL
  23. QUOTE(lvjeremylv @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 01:43 PM) The only flaw in that statement is this - the NBA did not turn a blind eye to the situation and pretend it didn't exist. They dealt with it swiftly and strongly, and that helped to greatly minimize any damage that could have been done to the sport. If baseball had dealt with steroids as swiftly and strongly in the 80's (70's?) instead of allowing it to spread and grow because of greed, we wouldn't be having this discussion today. Depending on how long you think David Stern knew about the allegations. Some people think he knew about it for quite some time
  24. QUOTE(lvjeremylv @ Feb 13, 2008 -> 01:15 PM) Several flukes in the same bullpen? Interesting coincidence. There are lots of reasons why an athlete might stop taking performance enhancing drugs. Fear of getting caught; guilt from cheating; no longer needing them since they achieved their objective (whatever that may be); wanting to stop before putting their body in greater danger. Those are 4 possible answers. I don't want to make it sound like I for sure believe that the 2005 Sox were up to no good. I really hope that the stars aligned that year and everything worked out in our favor. It was the greatest moment of my sports life, and if it came to light that there were HGH or steroids involved, it would greatly disappoint me and tarnish that entire year of my life. But to dismiss the possibility categorically is not prudent. Strange, because thats exactly how your arguments sound, lol
