  1. I dont hate Schilling, he just annoys me. And the fact that he plays for Boston means that there is always going to be a mic in front of his face, so I am exposed to many things he says.
  2. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 07:46 AM) best blog line of the day www.wwtdd.com and www.thesuperficial.com have some hilarious zingers. They make fun of celebrities constantly
  3. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 8, 2008 -> 07:30 AM) I doubt Owens gets 390AB, but if he did 35 SB is probably a little low. If he had that many ABs, i could seriously see him swiping near 50 bases. I agree, if he has 390 ABs and hits .269, I think 35 SBs is a very low number for him
  4. Yesterday I was listening to an interview of Paxson by Mulligan and Hanley(I think, I am pretty sure it wasnt North), and a question was posed about playing through injuries. The question that was posed sounded like "If the Bulls had a good record and the playoffs with a good seed were pretty much guaranteed, do you think that Deng, Hinrich, and Gordon would be playing through their injuries?"(not verbatim). Paxson paused, and answered "You cannot force a player to play. If a player is injured and does not feel like he can go, then you cannot force him to play." That is an extremely disappointing answer.
  5. I dont see how this is surprising really. Randy Quaid is what he is, and he has always been the same way. The crass characters he plays on tv arent too different from real life from what I have read
  6. You cant pitch anymore Curt? So Long, Thanks for the fish.
  7. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 01:35 PM) What did he think he was gonna find in a baseball clubhouse. Hopefully he's not the Jesus version of Ricky Williams. Why? Can you smoke Jesus?
  8. QUOTE(The Critic @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 11:27 AM) TNA has offered a "Head Coaching" job to Bobby Knight. Man, if that stupid little publicity stunt doesn't smell like the dying days of wCw, I don't know what does. What, you dont think David Arquette was a good idea? I dont know you anymore
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 10:55 AM) Can you come up with another reason why McNamee would have a sample of Clemens's blood? And I'll bet you it's quite difficult to fake the pattern of blood you get on a used needle without actually injecting someone. I have no reasons, just questions. I find it amazing that Clemens, if guilty, continues to plead his case as if he is not guilty when the next step is to possibly commit perjury in front of congress. And at the same time, i dont know why McNamee would have all of this evidence without him planning to turn on Clemens at sometime in the future. this evidence would be what, 10+ years old? 10 years ago McNamee was telling himself he should keep steroid-used needles? Why wouldnt he destroy that stuff if he was in on it?
  10. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 09:54 AM) Well if it has Clemens blood or DNA on there as well as the traces of HGH or steriods or whatever...that would be enough for me. I mean I guess his lawyers can argue that he some how he added the HGH or steroids to the syringe from the B12 on his own. Then they'll test if the syringe has any trace of B12 or whatever. If Clemens was really smart and thinking ahead, I guess he could have made sure to use the same syringe. I don't know. I suppose they'll have a defense and reasonable doubt no matter what. This is what ia m thinking. The evidence is going to be disputed as manufactured eveidence, how do you disprove that McNamee didnt add some sort of Clemens DNA/Blood to a syringe of HGH or steroids, or if it is in fact a true piece of evidence that Clemens used steroids?
  11. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Feb 7, 2008 -> 09:16 AM) Why would he keep the evidence? Because Clemens is a known hothead (see Piazza, Mike), for one, and you want to protect yourself. Because anytime you are the subordinate working for a bigger party, and they are doing something wrong with you, you want some proof that they knew about it; it's a way to keep your boss from throwing you to the wolves. And no, he probably didn't manufacture this evidence to turn over to the Government. I can't say for 100% sure, but I'm 95% sure. It doesn't pass the logic test: why would he make it up knowing full well that they can test it and throw his ass into prison? I hope like hell that this turns out to be true and Clemens loses his future in baseball, like Pete Rose. I've said it before: Roger is playing a dangerous game, with these denials, and now that there is apparently physical proof he might have lost. Of course, we'll have to wait and see what these things say, but Clemens is clearly in trouble. How would one be able to tell the difference between manufactured/doctored evidence and the real thing?
  12. Why would McNamee keep those syringes/physical evidence? If him and Roger were cool before, then there is no reason for him to keep those syringes/physical evidence unless he planned on turning on him at one point.
  13. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 03:39 PM) To increase attendance he is scheduling a cage match against Robin Ventura . . . Yes, I went there and in a hurry. Might as well get it out of the way
  14. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 01:29 PM) Hawk makes the games less exciting. Zzzzz...As far as tone, personality, and commentary DJ and Hawk have to be one of the most boring duos in baseball. I pity those fans who has worse. Hawk might be Sox baseball, but he also detracts people from watching or listening. I mean, look how many die hard Sox fans here dislike him. I can't imagine common viewers would like him. At least Hughes keeps Santo in check. DJ is not capable of this, and at times the broadcast is just unbearable. Hawk is fine in small bits, but listening to him for 3 hours is painful at times. Why Stone is not in the Sox booth is beyond me. He is far more interesting and far more objective. At least to me... I think Stone is happy doing whatever he wants in regards to baseball right now. Sometimes he is on the radio calling games, sometimes he calls into the Score, in the summer he hosts on the Score, and he doesnt have to travel with any team. Last year he was asked many times about doing the White Sox and Cubs exclusively and he continued to repeat the same mantra "Im happy doing what I am doing". I just think he was burned out with the way the Cubs had treated him at the end and wanted a break until he felt like getting back into it.
  15. The kid in me loves watching "The Sandlot". Me and my childhood buddies had a similar thing going on in Carol Stream: ghost runners, 7 people playing a full game, cranky neighbors, kids down the block challenging us to random games. the only thing we were missing was the negro league ballplayer who would have been better than Babe Ruth. unfortunately, that guy must have lived in Streamwood.
  16. Does Flair just go away, or do you think WWE works him into the show as a mouthpiece or GM role?
  17. I would like to know how many people liked Hawk when he was with Wimpy vs Hawk when he is with DJ. To me, Hawk and Wimpy was the glory years for Hawk. he always seemed to have a good time with Wimpy(of course until the end) and he was never as argumentative(at least that I noticed). Now he just seems to get crotchity(sp?) and wants to tell DJ how right he is about everything. I dunno, maybe it is the age gap between the two that throws off the dynamic. I will always love Hawk for his blind homerism and love for the organization. he drives me insane sometimes, and I definitely tune him out more often than not, but I do not look forward to the day that someone else will be making the homerun calls, as much as "you can put it on the board" is overplayed.
  18. QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 09:10 AM) as much as everyone doesn't like him.........he is white sox baseball to me. I can't imagine watching a game and not having hawk talk about catfish hunter. whenever I think of Hawk talking about anything that he is repetitive about, I think of SSI71's post about Hawk being a robot
  19. I have been watching the Urban Myths show on the Bio channel recently. I really like the show, it presents 3 different Urban Myths, of which one is true. There is a complete backstory on each myth, with people offering commentary and narration of each story, and at the end of the show the true Urban Myth is revealed. Plus, at every commercial break they offer a minor Urban Myth and give you the truth about the the myth when the show returns from the commercial break. Sometimes it is plainly obvious which myth is true, but most of the time I wonder about it until the end of the show. Me and my wife usually bet which one we feel is true. Another show I have been addicted to is Cash Cab on the discovery channel. The looks on some of those peoples faces when the cab lights up are just priceless.
  20. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 08:13 AM) Willie Andrews busted with 1/2 lb of pot http://www.capecodonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll...NEWS11/80206001 So some guy dropped an anonymous top that there may be drug use in a black vehicle and Willie Andrews just happens to have 1/2 pound of pot and nothing to smoke it with. What did Willie Andrews do to Mr Anonymous to piss him off that much, i wonder?
  21. LOL, Shaq is gonna slow down that run and gun style that the Suns play. To a crawl
  22. Does anyone know what family emergency forced HHH to no-show RAW this past monday?
  23. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 5, 2008 -> 10:17 AM) Well stats and results do have to come into play to some degree. I mean, if I was a Vikings fanatic and I insisted that the '85 Vikings were the best team ever, that would be wrong. I can say my favorite team is the '85 Vikings because I loved everything about them, but they were not the best team. I agree. But this isnt a discussion about a team that went 7-9, this is about a team that went undefeated and won the Superbowl. The Dolphins played the teams in front of them and won every game. No other team since 1972 has done this, and that is a hard fact to ignore, whether you think the league was watered down or not. Why didnt any team go undefeated when there was league expansion? Was there ever another year where the caliber of play was considered less than par? so many factors and opinions, nobody is truly right or wrong
