QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 11:09 PM) Does anyone really use the soxtalk "rating system" built into the message board functions? apparently someone thinks I'm 1 out of 5 stars. I think you're being kind... momma always said less is more

Santana Traded to the Mets
Mike North is on the radio right now telling everyone that he would rather have Bedard over Santana because Santana went 15-13 last year and Bedard went 13-5(on a bad Orioles team). The guy is completely delusional

CREDE CREDE CREDE
QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 04:52 PM) Sounds like Uribe without the ability to play short. Except that Inge was also a SS in college, so he can play that too

QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 10:13 AM) I think him fighting Frank Mir should show everyone exactly where he is. But even after that fight i wouldn't be ready to crown him the greatest thing ever. Whenever I think of Lesnar I think of him breaking Kurt Angles neck and then almost breaking his own in the same match.

The Bench
QUOTE(ScottyDo @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 09:40 AM) well, Uribe has SOME decent power. problem is he's streaky and you can't streak from the bench. I would have to say that the only time we truly saw Uribe go on a streak was when he was the superutility guy coming off the bench in 2004. Maybe he has to have his comfort level taken away from him

CREDE CREDE CREDE
QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 09:19 AM) The longer Crede is held the more desperate a team in need of him could become. The reason I disliked the Garland and Garcia trades so much was when they went down. They can play on the desperation of a team especially a team that losses a 3B in spring training. This is the same thing that could happen to Uribe and possibly even Nick Massett or Gavin Floyd. There is no need to take nothing prospects for them now as at worst they add depth of MLB players, not great players, but guys that you can count on for something. Lost in the Crede situation in my mind is the fact that the Sox signed him to a high contract when they still had time. I am not certain if he worked out, had a physical or what but they could have held out until it was time to go to arbitration to sign him. This type of thinking also can screw you over if you wait too long and the prospective buyer moves on to plan B

Santana Traded to the Mets
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 09:40 AM) Good stuff. The sooner he's out of the AL Central, the better. I pray he winds up on the Mets and is out of the AL for the remainder of his career! Santana in the NL... under 2 era? very possible. I wonder what his interleague numbers are?

How do true UFC fans feel about Lesnar? Im just curious if they think he is going to be the real thing, or if he is just a big talker and wont be nearly as great as he tells everyone

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 09:23 AM) Someone was murdered is seems, so hopefully someone is one step closer to being caught and punished. How would you act if your wife ran off with another guy? Having Dahl host a dating contest would not be a bad thing, except, he sure seems guilty, so in that case, he just gives Bill Curtis a few minutes on American Justice, Bill "Perhaps oddest of all was his appearance on a popular Chicago Radio Show . . ." I Bill Curtis His complete lack of any remorse and attempt to find her is the most troubling. He may or may not have a wife who left him, but he has 2 kids without a mother right now and at the very least he should be trying to find her for them.

Dog Suggestions?
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 09:03 AM) Buying dogs are a crapshoot, even certain breeds, the dogs aren't a certain type. Although I always question people who go to a breeder when there are so many great adoptable dogs in shelters, if you aren't planning on showing your dog, take a look at a shelter please. The best city dogs I've ever encountered is a bulldog honestly. They are good with kids and strangers, do not need a ton of exercise, and tend to be quieter. They also cuddle. Second on that list is minature pinchers. They are great city dogs. Exercise and socialization are two important factors in choosing city dogs, my rotty wasn't a good fit for my area as he doesn't trust outsiders and needs constant outdoor time. Because of this I had to move him to my very happy parents house. On the flip side, my gfs adopted mutt boxer/chow loves all people and only likes short walks. All in all, its a crap shoot, but dogs are just awesome to have, and also test your patience as a person. I agree with everything you said about Bulldogs, The only reason I would stay away from a bulldog is that they have such a short lifespan. My grandfather had a few, none of them lasted longer than 6 years old due to various genetic defects (breathing problems due to the shape of the face, skin problems, heart problems, weight problems, i saw a beautiful purebred bully who was completely blind from birth). I would love to have one, but knowing they arent going to be around very long is a tough pill to stomach.

QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 08:43 AM) He looked exactly the same. It really is amazing he is back so soon. He did a lot of activity in the Rumble as well. Not like he was taking it easy. Yeah, I was thinking about this on the way to work today after I read this thread. How much do you think WWE fudges rehab time so that their stars can make miraculous early returns? Not that Cena had a minor injury or anything, but what would be the true rehab time for an injury like he had?

I like Beagles too, but I am a Basset Hound guy. My nine year old Clark keeps me company. Bassets are like Beagles without the maximum overdrive switch

Dog Suggestions?
Its hard for me to recommend a dog breed to someone, i think choosing a dog is one of the more fun things to do and it is unique to the prospective owner. Have you ruled out an adoption? Or are you going for purebred?

QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Jan 28, 2008 -> 05:58 AM) Months old, but here's a link where the 2nd wife says he told her he could kill her and make it look like an accident. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/c...hi_tab01_layout I also remember a family member of the 3rd wife that died saying she was told that she feared similar things. Don't know the chance of being found though if he's a cop (knows all the tricks of the trade, I suppose) and he's got people covering up I also think I remember an interview saying Drew was the controlling type where he'd monitor every call, wherever she was at every minute, etc. Yeah, I'm sure that type of guy is all smiles after his wife runs off with another guy I posted this a few months ago as well: QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 1, 2007 -> 06:31 PM) Stacy Peterson disappeared. Drew Peterson, a shady police officer with quite the spotty past, said that she left him for some guy she was seeing, leaving their young children behind. Close family members didnt believe his story. At first Drew Peterson wasnt a suspect, but then people started questioning some things about his past, specifically the death of his 3rd wife. His third wife, Kathleen Savio, was determined to have drowned in her own bathtub, which was completely empty at the time. The body of his ex has been exhumed, and Dr Michael Baden (of HBO: Autopsy fame) has gone on record saying that her death was a homicide. Drew Petersons lawyers obviously disputed this claim. This is when things started getting wierd. Peterson went on a media blitz, which included multiple appearances on the Today show with Matt Lauer and creepy pleas for his wife to come home. The FBI became involved, and all of the sudden Drew was suspect numero uno. Of course, Drew and his Lawyer complained. Different facts started coming out from both sides. She was flirting with another guy. He used to beat up his ex wives. Michael Sneed got some random scoop that Stacy Peterson told a priest in confession that Drew killed his 3rd wife and she knew about it. Then a letter from nobody showed up, and nobody believed it. And a few days ago, a question was raised about Drew's stepbrother, who recently couldnt be accounted for. Well, it turns out that he attempted suicide. And this is where the story is pretty much standing: The rumor is that Peterson called his stepbrother and met him in a restaraunt to discuss disposing of a problem. Later on, he met up at Drews house to dispose of a large blue barrel, which was reportedly warm to the touch. Nobody knows where the barrel is, and Drew keeps on living life as a free man. Can you believe I wrote that on December 1st and nothing has changed since then?

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 27, 2008 -> 08:09 PM) Galaxy Quest was fairly amusing. I love that movie. Tony Shalub is hysterical in his role, in fact the whole crew is pretty funny in that movie. Hopefully down the line they can come up with another Galaxy Quest. Its not so much of a spoof as the Scary Movie-Date Movie type movies though, not as many slapstick gags and stupid awful lines (say hello to my lil friend!)

QUOTE(Brian @ Jan 27, 2008 -> 04:15 PM) They usually don't go with surprise winners, except Mysterio caught me off guard. I'd love to see Punk win, but it will be HHH or Taker. Yawn. I'd like for whoever to win come in at number 12 or around the middle of the pack. That would actually be different. I have a feeling that Trips isnt winning the rumble. I dont know why, I think he is going to show well, but I dont think he is going to take it.

QUOTE(shipps @ Jan 27, 2008 -> 08:40 AM) Are you refering to detectives that are on the case?Or just people involved from the Bolingbrook police dept that havent cooperated to the full extent? People involved in the cover-up of the savio case, the autopsy and conclusion in the savio case, some of the strange goings on with Stacy Peterson. There is a belief that there is more than a little cover-up for Drew.

QUOTE(shipps @ Jan 27, 2008 -> 08:31 AM) Imagine the detectives in this case Kyyle. They obviously know more than we do and Iam sure they lean towards guilty as sin for Drew. But not having the proof for a court room even though they can sense his guilt through interviews with Drew and people in Drews life.It has to be frustrating for them. TIFWIW, my best friend was at a christmas party this year and the subject of Drew Peterson came up. A guy who is a firefighter at a city nearby bolingbrook said that the reason this whole thing is taking forever is because there are some big dominos in the Bolingbrook Police Dept that are going to fall once Stacy is found(presumably dead), and Kathleen Savio is going to play a big part in that. Once again, tifwiw, it was a christmas party.
