From everything I have read on this board, I am very pleasantly surprised with Richars defense, especially turning the DP. Im waiting for the other shoe to drop

How do you rate a pitching/hitting coach's performance?
QUOTE(forrestg @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) On Mlb home plate on xm they were interviewing some guy and he explained why some teams were scoring a lot of runs and teams like the white sox weren't. He said it was all about being patient at the plate. Teams that were scoring a lot of runs were more selective on pitches.. If you are not very good at hitting a ball in on your hands don't swing at it. A curve ball low and outside that you can't reach don't even try (Uribe) Yes, I believe it has a lot to do with the hitting coach. Every mlb team knows we are swinging for the fence every time. I think coop is not a God if he was he'd figure out el duque. eh?

Man mauled by dogs at Ving Rhames Brentwood home
They can be used as a guard dog, just like any dog, depends on the training. But they are known to be very good tempered dogs. From the video on TMZ, they didnt look aggresive at all. The police were walking them out and they were just wagging their tails(except for one, which they had a muzzle on). CNN wrote something indicating they didnt know if the guy was dead before the dogs found him or not. It would be a shame if all 4 dogs were put down because of what one dog did.

Garnett to Boston?
QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 12:04 PM) I feel your pain. They have one dominant scorer on the perimiter, one in the mid-range, and one in the post. Y'all should be talking about that balance on the offensive end, but I ain't seen hamburgers. The Nuggets? That ain't balance; that's chaos. What's gonna hold the Celtics back from winning a championship? Team defense and bench depth. They have a potentially dominant perimiter defender in Tony Allen that most casual fans have never even heard of, and then you have Kendrick Perkins, whose shot-altering potential is immense (if he can lay off the cheeseburgers). However, most teams will be able to score at will against Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. Hell, I could score on those guys. What you have are major highs and lows; you got paint defense, which reigns supreme, but then you have some of the worst perimiter and mid-range D in the NBA, minus Tony Allen. I'd like to see a terrific on-the-ball defensive PG like Marcus Banks running the point, but Danny Ainge wouldn't really know anything about that. When the cards fall next year, where do you see Boston ending up? Top 8? Top 5? Top 3? I see them making the playoffs, but i just dont know if their bench depth(or lackthereof) will allow them to compete with teams who will consistently throw fresh bodies at them. And if any one of thier big three goes down, they will be in some serious trouble.

QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Aug 3, 2007 -> 12:53 AM) I've seen Michelle without makeup in one of those candid photos before. One of the few that can pull it off. Apparently the Batista/Khali matches they've been running at house shows have SUCKED. So much that they've gone to having Finlay interfere in the matches to then setup Batista/Kane vs. Khali/Finlay. How they expect for these 2 to put on a match at summerslam is beyond me. If you expect Batista to be able to carry a match, you are gonna get burned every time. Khali needs someone to carry his matches, he is just too stiff and horrible in the ring, and batista isnt gonna do that. Hopefully vince lets Khali take his schtick elsewhere soon, the crowd yeller needs to go.

Chris Harris traded to Panthers
QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 09:56 PM) i actually am not sure how i feel about this move...my biggest concerns for this D are at safety....lets face it, mike brown is injury prone, so depth is important....in addition archuleta was horrible in washington....yes it wasnt the same system, and archuleta is supposedly much better in cover 2, but he was getting beat in washington with his coverage skills, and im not sure i trust that he will be able to cover half the deep field as well as he did a few years ago in st. louis.....after that manning is solid, and i assume the bears must think highly enough of brandon mcgowan and rookie kevin payne to let harris go....those guy i suppose could be better ballplayers than harris....im not saying chris harris was a great player, but this was a guy who started 20 games in just 2 seasons in teh NFL and that experience is somewhat valuable.... oh well...it probably won't matter too much, but if brown gets injured and archuleta stinks again we could be in trouble lovie smith was talking up Kevin Payne alot, and they also have Brandon McGowan and Daniealle Manning, so they were 6 deep at the safety position. From what I have read and heard about Payne is that he is very similar to harris(big hitter), but has some better coverage skills.

Iron Sheik on Howard Stern
QUOTE(juddling @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 03:46 PM) There is a couple different videos on YouTube of the Shiek snapping at different autograph shows. I remember a few years ago at one in Chicago he had to be restrained by security because he attacked someone else. (i didn't recognize the someone else). That may have been the one where the Ultimate Warrior refused to shake his hand, and Sheik went crazy. When a security guard stepped in, Sheik pimp slapped him. It was funny as heck

QUOTE(frankie5angels @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 02:34 PM) Plus he is playing for a winner and not a loser. That always helps when you know you have a shot to win everyday, and that you are in a division race. Yes, for the past 3 years, Iguchi has been playing for a loser, and now he is playing for a winner. GMAB

QUOTE(DonnyDevito @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) this is what i walk talking about. iguchi is more focused and playing better than he ever did in chicago right now for the phils. not a game has gone by, it seems, where Gooch didn't either get a hit, run, or an RBI. and i think gooch has more walks as a phillie than he did, on average, with the chisox. Everytime you say that you convince me that you never watched a game Iguchi played in before this year

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 2, 2007 -> 02:09 PM) Juan "I love seconds and thirds at the buffet line" Uribe with the last out. Hopefully after this season, we can finally get rid of this. How many times do we need to see the human windmill try to launch every single pitch onto the street. Another offseason of 2nd helpings and he wont even bend over for the ball. You would think he would be in shape this season after running from the police for the entire offseason [rimshot]
