There was a lot of talk on sports radio that Liddell was more or less doing the media push(Entourage, SI, ESPN interviews) and probably would lose because of all of the focus he put on the media aspect. The way I interpreted it was that he was on the buffet circuit and wasnt training the way he was supposed to. He didnt prove any of that wrong. Honestly, the shot he took to the mouth didnt look like something that would KO him like that.

Hmm, I expected to see the stat about 4 homeruns hit in one inning(Back to back to back, Thomas-Ventura-Baines, followed by a Lyle Mouton single, and a Chad Kreuter homerun) against the Brewers. Only because its my birthday and I was there do I remember that game

I was just blown away by the callers hatred towards AJ. And the first thing I thought was "This is a Cubs fan", but then the guy started talking about minor leaguers and certain aspects of the Sox that a Cub fan wouldnt care about, even if pretending to be a Sox fan. I love AJ, and the only reason I didnt like him when he was with the Twins was because he ALWAYS beat us with the game on the line.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 25, 2007 -> 05:23 PM) He just frustrates the hell out of me. He's always the guy that keeps ISU from getting anywhere close to the Jayhawks. His breakaway steal and dunk was a backbreaker last year. he was the sole reason the Salukis didnt advance in the tournament. Julian Wright was out of sorts, Rush was unstoppable. the kid hit every shot he took.

I was listening to the score a few days ago after the Sox beat the Cubs, and a Sox fan called in and started talking about how he hates AJ and thinks he is bad news, despite the fact that he can be clutch and had moments that changed the 2005 season. It got me to thinking about the whole surrounding mystique about AJ, and wondering what really makes everyone hate the guy. I remember back when AJ was with the Twins, all of the White Sox players talked about how they didnt like him, but they never gave good reasons why they didnt like him. It was always something like "he talks too much", but never any concrete reasons that I could see besides the fact that AJ always stuck it to the Sox when he was put in the position to do so. Basehits, calling games, taking leads, AJ was always in the middle of the fray. Then the story came out of San Francisco that AJ kneed a trainer in the "cup". I still dont know if I believe it. It really doesnt sound like something he would do, despite the fact that he comes off to many people as an agitator. I just know that AJ had a tough year in San Francisco and never really fit in, and towards the end stories started coming out of nowhere. Basically I just wanted to find out what the majority of Soxtalk thinks about AJ, and why you think the way you do.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 25, 2007 -> 11:07 PM) Why only two IP? the game with Boston had a 2 hour game delay I am seeing on the ESPN scoreboard, maybe they just put another pitcher in after that long of a layoff.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 25, 2007 -> 12:22 PM) Him and Big Ben could be the most offensively inept front court in basketball. But their hair would be fantas........nevermind -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 25, 2007 -> 11:45 AM) Freel makes $2.325M this year, $3M next and $4M in '09. And since I feel obligated to mention it in any Freel thread the guy has had multiple DUI's, has had some drug problems and is completely insane. But he can hit! And play multiple positions! KW is good at getting money thrown in on deals, if the Reds are wheeling and dealing Im sure KW will have his ears perked

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 25, 2007 -> 07:34 AM) Dunn or Griffey are the only realistic names, and those would mostly be salary dumps, although I think Griffey would be the wiser move, since he could play LF or CF. Dunn is essentially a DH playing LF. Freel, or any young player in the first 3-5 years of his career, is going to be prohibitively expensive to acquire. I would love to have Juan Castro as a defensive replacement, but we're locked in with Cintron, Pods and Hall on the most expensive bench in baseball. And Jeff Conine would be another possibility for the OF, but I don't see how he's a clear upgrade over our LF platoon right now. Freel has been in the league (officially, he was up with the blue jays in 2001) 6 years and he is 31 years old. I think he might be available, I dont see how he would be prohibitively expensive. The Reds need arms, not to stockpile aging utility players

QUOTE(Shadows @ May 24, 2007 -> 08:58 PM) Im debating going tonight, but I think I wanna see 28 weeks later instead.. Too many high school kids there, and with school out it means its gonna be 10x worse than when I saw Spiderman 3 at the midnight showing i know what you are saying. When peter parker went "dark" in the movie, about half of the theatre said "thats sooooo emo" at the same time and complained about it for a while. I was thinking it, and it made me laugh a little bit, but it was kind of annoying too because they wouldnt let it die. A lot of "ssshhhhhs"

All I know for sure right now is that it is absolutely impossible to kill Mikhail and Locke. One thing I did notice was that Ben didnt indicate any sort of surprise when Locke showed up.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 23, 2007 -> 08:11 PM) Gaudin's only allowed 5 homers in the last 120 innings or so he's pitched. So what you are saying is that the Sox are not the only team that cant hit this guy? Wierd
