QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 12:07 PM) The best thing about Nolan's Batman IMO is that he actually embodies some characteristics of a "super hero". Keaton, Kilmer and Clooney were all pasty unathletic white guys with minimal fighting ability, pretty much a dude with a s*** load of money that can afford a bunch of cool gadgets and vehicles. Bale actually seems to have some sort of super hero qualities. He's completely ripped, very athletic and has the fighting abilities of a well trained ninja. When Keaton would fight 5 Joker goons at once in the first Batman movie it just seemed weak and unrealistic. He'd stand in the middle of the group as the goons to turns getting knocked out by a few weak blows to the body and head. Atleast Bale is elusive and cunning when fighting or he gets jumped by multiple goons at once and needs to find a way out. When Watching Batman Begins I just got the feeling that I was watching an actual super hero and I'm hoping Nolan can duplicate that in the rest of the series. I totally agree. Nolan adds realism to the superhero template. Bale has a few gadgets, but he isnt a stiff and one thing i like about him is that he carries the Bruce Wayne anger very well. Bruce was a very focused person when it came to justice and crime, and Clooney was just a joke when it came to that. Bale is just refreshing to me. Schumacher really drove this franchise into the ground, and this rebirth is really cool.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 11:35 AM) The reason this deal gets done is simple. The Yanks will give the Sox $10M to free up a roster spot to go after one of Hunter, Ichiro, the Japanese Centerfielder, or Jones. LOL, Ichiro is Japanese? You dont say!

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 11:26 AM) yeah... 28 mill for a guy who can't take the mound... i dont need to see him pitch for a team that's not making the playoffs. when he does finally show up, hell get raped in the AL. when we're talking salary coupled with performance, he takes the cake. LOL, we will see Steve. Any more predictions, Nostradamus?

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 11:24 AM) Realistically, who have they developed on their own (draft to bigs) since Radke? Lohse came from the Cubs, Silva from Phillies. Bonser, Nathan, Liriano from SFG, Santana was "stolen" too. JD Durbin was a huge disaster, he was once their top pitching prospects. Balfour and Crain went down to season/career-ending injuries. They have Baker, Bonser, Garza, Slowey and Perkins, and they'll be quite lucky if 1-2 of those guys becomes a regular member of the rotation for 3-5 seasons. We have Danks, Masset, Gio, Russell, Floyd, Haeger, Phillips, Broadway and McCullough. I think it's VERY even between the two organizations in young pitching. Rule 5 pick from the Marlins, IIRC

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 11:20 AM) Roger Clemens takes the cake... but Abreu follows soon after and Soriano is not far behind. I think he should pitch first before you decide that. He was pretty damn good for the past, I dont know, 20 years of his career

QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 10:02 AM) the trade's coming, and my gimmick will be useless soon WHarris1 maintained his "gimmick" after Willie left the team. I wouldnt worry about it

QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 10:32 AM) I guess if you want to call a guy who sells moves well, has great ring psychology, and is a natural arrogant heel, boring, than ok. Orton is a throwback. Remember when you didn't have to be good on the mic to be good. I guess all the "smarks" hate Benoit as well cuz he is boring on the mic as well. Benoit can outwrestle Orton with one hand tied behind his back. And I think Orton is slow, and doesnt sell moves well at all. Especially when he is jobbing. I can always tell when that guy is gonna lose, you can see it in the way he wrestles. He has the arrogant look down pat, i will give him that. But his wrestling and ring psychology need work, he needs to realize he isnt gonna win every time. Wrestling is different now, you need to be good on the mic to be success anymore

QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 10:22 AM) Charles Johnson was Schueler's deal...during the 2000 season. Some other moves, off the top of my head: Scott Sullivan in 2003 dumping Howry, Baldwin, Durham and Lofton in 2002 Riske trading Koch to Marlins Takatsu to Mets (well, it was a waiver move, lol) Ah yes, I forgot it was Schuelers team still. Well, KW was head of player personel back then, so he had a hand in it as well QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 10:27 AM) Its just a no-brainer... relief pitcher can get hot and look great then you trade for them and they are s***... as all relievers are basically what? Failed starters? If I'm giving up a package of players... its NOT for a reliever. Not true. not true at all.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 10:18 AM) I want Fuentes bad and it looks like the Rockies want to deal him. His .84 WHIP would look damn good setting up Jenks Why do the Rox want to deal him?

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 10:14 AM) he does???? not during the season unless you count getting alomars' and everett 3000 times. MacDougal, Contreras, Blum, Alomars, Everett, Charles Johnson, Schoenweiss, Freddy Garcia KW makes moves inseason

QUOTE(The Critic @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 03:04 AM) I can't speak for ALL of the Internet smarks , but I just find Orton really, really boring. His promos are dull, his matches are dull and his finisher is recycled (which would be forgivable if he didn't bore me to tears getting to the Diamond Cutter). To me, he's been every bit as "shoved down my throat" as Cena, and I just don't enjoy any aspect of his work. Other than that, he's great.... ^^^^^ LOL, count me in with the smarks

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 10:09 AM) trade winds for the sox is like an empty movie lot...... thats nonsense, KW always makes deals.

I thought the Val Kilmer "Batman Forever" was good simply because Jim Carrey embodied the insane ideals of the Riddler so well. However, it was another Joel Schumacher "vision" so the bad guys had neon covered guns and every scene inside of a building looked like a rave. Tommy Lee Jones as Two Face was forgettable. Not horrible, but he just wasnt there.
-
How long until the trade winds makes its grand entrance?
-
I swear i heard somewhere that MacDougals hamstring was bothering him. Maybe this is a way to get him some rest, and work out some kinks(ok, alot of kinks. tons of kinks) without losing any ML games.

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news07/batimax1.jpg A blurry shot of the Joker being filmed by Chris Nolan. But you get the picture. Im extremely excited about this one. I think Nolan has an amazing grasp on the aura and tone of the Batman comic and translates it very well. If anything, it isnt Joel Schumachers vision. There has been a huge guerrilla marketing campaign for this movie already. There is a website www.ibelieveinharveydent.com that is a fake website to go along with this movie. Comic book stores have been randomly sent Joker playing cards with "I believe in Harvey Dent" or "Hahahaha" written all over them. IMO they are doing this one right.

He wasnt giving up enough runs out of the bullpen, so they sent him down to work on that.
-
Score?
-
Mark and Javy have given the bullpen a nice breather.

QUOTE(briguy27 @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 03:16 PM) today he was hittin 94 and 95 on the gun. i dont remember him ever throwing too much harder then that... When he came up he was consistently in the 97-95 MPH range, occasionally bumping it up to 98. It made his offspeed stuff look absolutely filthy

The guy is an amazing pitcher, with a lot of passion, but his responsibility issues are disturbing. He always blames someone else
