QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 08:09 AM) I saw him at Second City once. He was here doing the local comedy club tour several times a year. I didn't think he was fall-on-the-floor funny, but he was a pretty good comedian. Comedians lead a very stange life. That stand-up comedian that hosted the Family Fued also killed himself. Then you look at the lives and deaths of John Belushi, Chris Farley and Phil Hartman. I dont really see how Phil Hartman is relevant. Belushi and Farley killed themselves with drugs, Jeni and Combs committed suicide, but Phil Hartman was killed by his wife who was completely nuts on Zoloft.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 11:36 PM) Let me guess, you didn't even bother to ask him about Barry Bonds. What the hell is the point of talking to Ron Kittle if you're not going to ask him the Barry Bonds story? Pussy. Haha, it crossed my mind, but you are right. I pussed out

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 08:23 AM) If Southern Illinois and Illinois play, it might be the lowest scoring game in NCAA Tournament history. If Illinois can beat Va. Tech, which I can see happening, I would like their chances over Southern. Bruce recruited their two best players, so he knows them very well. Either way, it would be a great matchup for the two schools. He may have recruited them, but he never coached them, I wouldnt say he knows them very well. I dont know, I think SIU-Illinois would be off the hook, and SIU would have a bigger chip on their shoulder than Illinois. Beating the coach that left you is always a good motivating factor -
I had something kind of cool happen to me today. I met up with the guys on my softball team at the Hitting Zone in Bartlett to have a few rounds of batting practice. On our way out I saw a guy who looked familiar to me and I realized it was Ron Kittle hanging out there, I dont know what for. I went up and shook his hand and he told us some stories about when he played softball in some tournament at a blueberry festival in Indiana, it was pretty funny. He was really cool, chatted with us and wished us luck on our season.

I have really grown to appreciate Downey Jr. I saw kiss kiss bang bang for the first time the other night and I thought RDJ was fantastic, as well as Val Kilmer. Its a really funny movie

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 05:29 PM) They were impressed that Logan K'd Thome and Mackowiak during the scrimmage. Am I allowed to joke that 90 pct of the lefties in baseball can do that? LOL, consider yourself banned. See you around WSI. -
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) If it's his arm, changing organizations won't add velocity. It'd be different if Prior were throwing 94-95 mph and experiencing failure. Watching him this last inning, he threw 88mph for several batters; but couldn't even elevate a weak breaking ball. Right on. The scrub prospects have no entered the game. Who knows how much velocity he has truly lost in the past 3 years in Cubs organization. He really hasnt pitched consistently in 3 years, including most of the past 2 years, so his velocity was bound to go down. If he ever finds it again, he is going to need to find his stones too.

More than a Feeling is the first song that actually "spoke" to me. I think it was the first album that actually caught my pre-pubescent attention and made me think about what was being said in the song. RIP Brad Delp ps. Havent they been touring with an alternate lead singer for a while?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 03:05 PM) The last time we played Arizona in the regular season, didn't we absolutely murder them in 1 game? Like it was the 2nd game in a row where Arizona had allowed 11 runs or something like that, back in 05? http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...esox-navigation Game 1: lost 8-1 http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...esox-navigation Game 2: lost 10-4 http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...esox-navigation Game 3: won 12-6 That was an ugly series for the Sox

QUOTE(Wedge @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 02:33 PM) One quick note: apparently Locke DID NOT check-mate the computer if you look at the screen shot. Didnt the russian tell him that the computer cheats and is never right?

lol, everytime Phillips is critical of anyone, they turn around and say "You were a sh**ty general manager, can it"

QUOTE(WCSox @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 10:54 AM) Um, VH went on a reunion tour with Sammy in '04. I think he is referring to the original Van Halen, not Van Hagar

QUOTE(Tmar @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 05:48 PM) I believe they restart 4/12/2007. Will that be considered Season 4? Or is Season 3 just on hiatus until 4/12? There was no finale for season 3, they just went to a party where Michael and Dwight embarrassed themselves

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 07:29 AM) Somewhere close to 10% of players tested positive for something the first year that they had testing. That is something like 70-80 players. That doesn't even include the guys who were on something undetectable such as HGH. Heck you have had players and former players admit to using, and nothing has happened to them. The couple of players who have actually been involved are a very small percentage of players who have actually been tested positive or connected to anything. Yeah, I guess you are right. Not that it makes me happy that prescription shopping is viewed only as a politically motivated witchhunt, but I guess there isnt alot of people out there actually getting busted for it.
-
I wouldnt really mind a return to the Sox for Rowand, but it would just seem silly to trade two players to the Phillies only to turn around one year later and deal more prospects and players to get them both back. There has to be someone out there who can be equal to Rowand who isnt on the Phillies

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 07:19 AM) Actually that would only reenforce the point... How many pro athletes have been brought before a real judge, or even lost their jobs because of steroids, or any other drugs? Not too many. The investigation isnt over yet, there are definitely going to be more people brought before a judge. Did Jason Grimsley avoid it by selling out a list of people when he was busted? Does Victor Conte count as someone busted since he was selling the prescription drugs?
-
Ha, she must not be watching the steroid scandal unfold in the MLB. What a crock, perscription shoppers have been cracked down on everywhere, it has nothing to do with political motivation.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 05:07 PM) I really doubt they will kill him off completely. They aren't dumb. Just as DC "killed off" Superman and brought him back. Yeah they did. Within a month. They are just generating interest in a stale character so they can bring him back

First Steve Bartman, now this kid, why does Gene Wojciechowski hunt down people that have extremely embarrassing public moments and make them relive the memory? -
On the news last night they showed her at various stops on her "JH Day tour", and at every one of them she broke out into a song in the middle of her speech. It was kind of funny

QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Mar 5, 2007 -> 05:26 PM) Briggs would of been the youngest of the free agent linebackers. Hes been injury free. Hes in the prime of his career and made it to the Super Bowl this year. He would of made more than Thomas. Briggs also turned down a reported 6 year 33 million dollar contract last year with a nice fat signing bonus. His lack of respect card is bullsh*t. And the difference between Adalious Thomas paycheck and Lance Briggs paycheck lies in one difference in their game: the ability to rush the quarterback. Thomas is regarded as a pass-rushing linebacker in the 3-4 defense, who can line up at end and rush in a straight up stance if needs be. Thomas would be right there with Briggs in money, if not making more.

QUOTE(vandy125 @ Mar 5, 2007 -> 11:26 AM) Does anyone even find those commercials funny? I change the channel whenever they come on. I laughed at them when they first came on, but now they are just repetitive. They hardly play it at all, but I still laugh at the newscast commercial where the Government official says "It seems like someone woke up on the wrong side of the rock." The whole tone of the commercial is funny to me.

I think they gave up trying when NBC started thoroughly dominating Thursday nights. They have their TGIF crap, but its just fluff
