  1. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 06:47 PM) It honestly amazes me how some of these anaylsts have jobs. Digger says SIU is going to play a lot of zone againt KU, and I lol'd because he just embarrasses himself more and more every time he speaks. He doesnt care, but you would think whoever is feeding him his script would note that SIU hasnt played a zone against anyone since Bruce Weber was hired as a coach. Where is Jimbo through all of this? I figured this one would leave him laughing since he jumped on the SIU bandwagon this year, he was bound to say something about it. Salukitalk has a bunch of phog.net quotes posted already, their fans already have this one in the bag. The geography of it doesnt really matter, there are a lot of SIU grads in the Chicagoland area. I think we were all surprised because A: they let us watch the first round game in its entirety, and B: They didnt cut away to a thrilling finish, they cut away to the beginning of the Memphis-Nevada game abruptly, in the middle of a play, and never came back to the game. Then they went to the end of the Wisconsin-UNLV game, which I wasnt surprised at because Wisconsin is very close to Chicago and it was an exciting ending/upset. There was plenty of time there unnecassarily spent on Memphis-Nevada first 3 minutes which could have gone to the end of the SIU game. Great game by the Salukis in a rematch. They made the Hokies look average and slow.
  2. source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter - Incase you are wondering why Edge has not worked a match in the past several weeks, it is because he is injured. The former WWE Champion suffered a broken jaw while working a match with Rob Van Dam a few weeks ago. The plan is to hold Edge out until WrestleMania 23 where he will compete in the Money In The Bank ladder match. -The Rock's surprise appearance this past Monday on RAW was put together by writer Brian Gerwitz. Gerwitz and The Rock keep in contact on a regular basis. Gerwitz asked The Rock if he would make a cameo appearance on RAW to help promote WrestleMania, and he agreed. Also, The Rock's dialogue in his cameo was completely unscripted. -Chris Jericho is definitely itching to return to the ring, but he would prefer a Mick Foley-type part-time schedule. He would go to TNA if the money was right, and the schedule would be ideal, but he has been pretty consistent in telling people that WWE is his first preference. -Big Show won't be signing with TNA anytime soon. He is involved in some sort of new project in which Show is both excited and motivated about. No details on the project have been given yet. Show will probably make his new commitment public by the start of the summer. -Jim Ross has posted up a new blog on his official website. In regards to a WWE-TNA rivalry, Ross said, "In all due respect to all involved, the good folks at TNA have a few miles to travel before they arrive on the same level as the WWE. The huge misconception here is this; the decision makers at TNA simply need to focus on improving their product and not worry about an imagined war with the WWE. That is largely what the WWE did during the Monday night wars which cannot be compared to an updated Monday night war with TNA, in my opinion. This is not a personal attack on TNA or anyone else but the simple fact is most businesses get better when they focus on what they are doing and not what the alleged competitors are up to."
  3. They had a couple of no-calls at the end there on Pruitt and Carter, but the last 10 minutes of that game were crap offensively for the Illini. They couldnt penetrate to save their lives.
  4. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 11:44 AM) Actually, I heard that Global Warming refused to come to Champaign because Weber is there. Rumors are that it is currently headed to either Kansas or Indiana LOL
  5. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 11:41 AM) lol. it's apparently a pile-on year. Bruce was behind the 8 ball when he left SIU, he was never in a win situation with Selfs shadow looming. If Gordon would have stayed true to his word, WS101 would still b*tch about who he missed on and how bad of a coach he is. And he isnt the only one
  6. I heard Bruce caused global warming in Champaign too. he also contributed to the decline of modern civilization by having a high pitched voice.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 07:46 AM) Donate some damn money. Seriously though, we gotta keep Chris around, unfortunately, if he goes we're losing a lot more than just him. If we can keep him around, this program is going to continue to get better as the prospects he's landing us are just outstanding. If he goes, well there's a possibility we lose Fay, Roundtree and Booker, and all of the sudden we're in a s*** load of trouble. I pretty much think we're going to lose him, I better be wrong. I think Moccia has something up his sleeve, and hopefully Lowery chooses his Alumni over alot more money.
  8. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...cs-home-utility OMGOMGOMG, SIU MIGHT LOSE THEIR COACH AGAIN, OMG!!! Moccia better pony up. The rumor is a deal worth 500K base plus incentives, time for the alumni to sweeten this pot. Minnesota is not a better situation than what he has going, despite facilities. Lowery would have to rebuild that team from the bottom up.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 03:08 PM) Dogs just dont taste as good as cows and pigs. /thread \reopen thread Depends on which asian country you are in. Dogs are a delicacy in plenty of places /thread
  10. Where did Molitor and Puckett do anything remotely close to changing the outcome of a game through cheating? I dont even remember either of them being labeled as cheaters to be honest with you
  11. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 15, 2007 -> 12:15 AM) Hypothetically: What if it comes out that, say, Greg Maddux is a crackhead. Are we going to keep him out of the hall because that's "messed up" or something? Keep him out for the kids? What if, say, it comes out that Mariano Rivera gambled on his own performances. "I'll bet I can save this game." Should he be kept out? I can't understand why Pete Rose isn't a HOFer. Because MLB wants to make a point about gambling? about lying? as if this organization of Jeff Loria's and Barry Bonds' is some living breathing allegory? I'm all for players being role-models but I don't think Kirby Puckett's violence against women should keep him from the Hall. I don't think Paul Molitor or Tim Raines' drug use should keep them from the Hall. I don't think Pete Rose' gambling should keep him from the Hall. Guess I'm just crazy. To me, using drugs for personal use or to enhance ones self for playing the game is bad, but forgiveable because these people are trying to win. With a manager betting on his own team, well, you cannot say that Rose didnt try to lose some games to keep bookies happy. And this is the big difference for me. Every manager makes questionable decisions during games(as we all see during White Sox game threads), now Rose has admitted that he gambled on the games he managed. Of course he is going to say he bet on his team to win. The guy has been lying about gambling for the last 15 years, why would he stop now? Everything that has come about in the last 5 years with Rose being "truthful" should have been done the minute he was convicted(aside from the book cash grab). Rose made this bed, now he has to lie in it.
  12. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 07:51 PM) He's like 25! His title reign was to get the belt back on HHH. When he is 30 or 35 and hasn't done anything, than criticize him. Orton sells moves almost as well as anyone in the WWE. It is not over selling like some guys do, but he is good at it. The problem I had with him jobbing out to Lashley last night is because the WWE is pushing Lashley as their next star, but Orton should be their next star. I'm willing to be in 5 years, Lashley will be gone and Orton will be the top heel in the business. Tallest midget maybe? He isnt really good at anything, and if he is going to be the next top heel we are in for some boring mic work, and endless tales of third generations stars/legend killers. The guy is tired, has no gimmick, and relies on the "look" and the pedigree. The next top heel in this outfit is gonna be Ken Kennedy if it is anyone. That guy gets under your skin, can wrestle, and has great mic presence. edit: the greatest thing I ever saw Randy Orton do, which I thought he was going to take off with, was give Stacy Keibler an RKO. It was totally unexpected (and funny as hell) and the crowd was pissed. If he could actually realize his potential and go heel all out, he might be good. But his mic work is just boring. QUOTE(Shadows @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 06:59 PM) Ill kill you
  13. I must be in the minority. Orton may have the look, but to me he is lacking "It". He just doesnt come off to me as anything more than a cohort. He can speak on the mic, but he never says anything that makes me take notice. Its all the same thing everytime he talks. When he is jobbing it is painfully obvious because he doestn sell moves, when he is going to win it is even more obvious because he gets really cocky. Orton has his shot, and never grabbed a hold of it.
  14. QUOTE(Y2HH @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 11:43 AM) That three page thread has nothing to do with MY franchise. This one was specifically about ME. And now there is a 1/2 page thread on it here. Well, this part of the messageboard is specifically about the White Sox, not about you. Because it is even more nonsense to see the same thing posted in 4 different threads
  15. QUOTE(shipps @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 07:20 AM) I just realized that I really enjoy movies that have actors that were for the first part of their careers were nothing but comedy but decide to do serious movies. Will Ferrell in Stranger than Fiction,Jim Carey in Eternal Sunshine among other serious movies he done,Steve Carrell My Little Sunshine which to me really wasnt a comedy. They just have an edge to them. LOL, did the music section look like the movie section today? I agree with you though. I dont know if anyone has been watching the car commercial with an english folksy band singing "Twist, Snap.....I love you", but that is I am Kloot. And they are awesome. If you havent checked them out, you need to check out "Gods and Monsters", "Natural History", and their self titled album. Very moody, but I love their style.
  16. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 03:28 PM) Then have AJ at SS while we're at it. because last year AJ played utility man and played SS occassionally, right? Its ST, stop it already

Were you on suspension? When you left, did you make a thread entitled: LEAVING
  18. QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 02:40 PM) Im saving this one. I might just be able to bring it back in a few months and laugh. A few months from now will determine whether Anderson is the better player? Wow, BA doesnt have much time at all
  19. The Rock just cut a great promo on Raw. It was a classic, he worked in all of his old calls.
  20. http://www.becomeanmm.com/ Kind of fun creating a M&M
  21. QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 10:17 AM) I went and saw the Urge at Copper Dragon once because my friends liked them, but Penny Pinch was the place, especially on a nice night when you can chill in the beer garden. Between 1996 and 2004 I saw the Urge 12 times at Copper Dragon and Mississippi Nights in St Louis. Their shows are insane. Back to the bracket, I think SIU has a good chance of making a run, but they need to hit their shots. They are in a defensive bracket if I have ever seen one.
  22. http://www.thesouthern.com/articles/2007/0...ts/19573964.txt I miss the Copper Dragon, I have seen many many great shows and have had many many Copper Dragon brews there. Its too bad they stopped having it open regularly and only open it for special events.
  23. With his arm angles, size, movement on his pitches, and overall demeanor on the mound he kind of reminds me of the Count. Maybe he can get a few pointers on the split-finger and iron it out in the minors, and come back next spring and make a push for the big league club.
